My hair is fairly manageable and I've never considered myself a hair person, until now. I realize the reason I never cared was because nobody ever gave me the look or experience I was after. I have dark blonde hair but looove to go light without it looking tacky or unnatural or brassy. Caroline gave me THE BEST balayage with blonde baby lites around my face and enough dark root bits to make it look perfectly natural as it grows out. I've never rebooked appointments at the end of appointments, but now I always do. I'm hooked. The space is straight out of Pinterest, with voluptuous plants everywhere and decor that makes you want to go home to redecorate. The vibe is very inclusive and high end. It's hard to find high end, high quality spaces that feel okay for people who aren't rolling in dough, but this is it! The prices are high for good reason. If you don't want to spend the money and you're okay with average hair or even errors, any other salon in town can help you. But if you want what you pay for, this. is. your. jam. I've also heard and seen that Caroline, the owner, is great to work for/with. Her employees are more independent contractor style which means they have the freedom to create their schedules, name their prices, and care for hair the way they do best. It adds a fun, diverse component and it makes it possible for all hair types to get terrific results. Pus, you can definitely 'feel' when there's tension or power struggles in salons and that doesn't exist here. I've had my hair totally messed up by other local salons, have had not the best experiences waiting in line at barber shops, and had resorted to wearing hats and trying my best to maintain my hair myself. All that changed when a friend of mine recommended Maggie @ Atlas to me. Maggie is Deva certified so you can trust that she knows what she's doing with your curls. Honestly, my cut with Maggie was the best and least stressful hair-experience of my life. I've never been able to relax into a cut because I've never trusted someone with my head. Maggie knows exactly what she's doing and I felt confident in letting her be creative. She's also very skilled with clippers! More so than any barber I've been to. I'm SO happy with my cut and will absolutely be back. The studio space is cozy and incredibly cute and inclusive. It's located off the Winooski circle, right behind Scout. The easiest walk from my house. Based on my own experience, the space is queer and trans friendly. Would highly recommend this place to anyone but especially to folks of color and also queer and trans folks who are looking for an inclusive space and creative stylists.

Very bad rating. The owner did a weave in my hair and left 50% of the strings in, hanging down, its…read morenot tight at all and the threading is way to far apart and she has spots on the side of the head that are bunching over an inch out of my head. On top of all of this, when it came down to the end, she did not place them in right. This left me with a full weave showing so she tried to fix it by adding more random hair that was not my color at all and she GLUED it to the top of my head leaving half inch spots of dark glue mounding of my head for everyone to see. I am very unhappy with the result and when i actually got a real chance to look at it at home i called back and she refused me a refund and said that against the policy. Very unprofessional and do not recommend at all.
