This salon is unassuming but, the hair color & style I received here has been just as good or even better than the more expensive, high-class salons I've been to! I had me roots touched up and a chunky highlight bleached/toned by Kim. She was very friendly and did a great job with my hair. I loved how she styled my hair, especially my bangs. I got a haircut, wash and style today with Alicia. SHE IS AMAZING! I have curly hair, so getting a cut is always a struggle for me, but today it was so pain free. She listened to what I prefer, took time to cut my hair, used DevaCurl products and even difussed with the Deva Hand!! Update 08/06 the manager finally got in contact with me after a month threw my google review only to tell me "we offered to fix it". No apology for her rude nail tech. This is a beautiful salon located on the Hickam Air Force Base, so you need base access. Don't let my first review fool you, it is a great place and I highly recommend it for the following reasons: 1. Easy to make appointments on Yelp! I got a response right away and got a reminder phone call the night before 2. Salon is beautiful and clean! Conveniently located by Starbucks, you can grab a coffee before hand and stop by the grocery store with your new hairdo after 3. Service is excellent. I had Jocelyn and she treated me with kindness. While I was waiting for the dye to set in, she asked me if there was anything she can do to make me comfortable and got a bottle of water 4. As a military spouse, it feels good to support my community as many of the employees are in the same situation I am in and I could relate to their stories. I am sure the same goes with them with my stories I paid $150 before tip with a root touch up, deep conditioning and a haircut with style. It is a little bit pricey but reasonable compared to other salons in the area. Thank you for a wonderful experience and hope to return when life slows down again. read more

Apparently Bobby & Guy recently took over the Hickam barbershop contract. For the last many months, I've given up on terrible base haircuts & have been paying more for a quality cut at a salon. Today I thought I'd be cheap and try the Hickam barbershop again. Bad move... this new contract also raised the price ($15.15). After the tip, I am kicking myself for not just using my regular salon for just a few dollars more. Such a shame to be extorting so much on base! read more

Probably the nicest salon and spa I've seen on a military base. This place is located on Hickam AFB. The prices are very reasonable. And right now they are offering a Fall Special. If you spend 150.00 or more on Salon services, you get 20.00 off!!! They also provide facials and massages... if I had the time to get a facial done, I totally would have... because the esthetician Tianna had given me a complementary facial as i had deep conditioner in my hair, and It was AMAZING!!!. Chau did an amazing job! She is a wonderful hairstylist and woman inside and out! For my time being in Hawaii I always had difficulty finding a good salon and hair stylist that knows how to control my crazy frizzy ethnic curly hair that does not charge a arm and leg. Chau was able to control my frizzy curly hair and was able to remove all the previous brassy orange tones to my hair and turn my hair to a blonde beautiful ashy tone! I am so incredibly happy with how my hair looks now! The salon in general is a wonderful new salon with professional, friendly staff members that all are so sweet. They also are quite affordable compared to most salons I have been to in Hawaii. I was surprised when my bill came to only 120 dollars for my partial highlight and style other salons in the past would charge me 300 dollars for blonde highlights and styling. I cannot wait for my next visit! Will be returning soon! read more

This is located on the Hickam AF base, and I had an excellent experience here. Staff is helpful and friendly. I always get nervous going to new hair salons because my hair always ends up either looking really nice or a complete disaster, and today I felt beautiful! I highly recommend Darleen. She's professional and talented. I went in to get my highlights retouched because yikes, and a small trim, and my highlights look so much better than they used to. She took a lot of the brassiness that it used to have too. I highly recommend! read more

I went in for a custom color and partial highlight to bring up my highlights that had grown out several inches. I left completely defeated and emotionally drained. I even cried. I don't cry. I wasn't planning on posting either because it is so embarrassing and nothing ever comes out of it usually but my sister (who owns a salon in California) told me I needed too let the patrons be aware. I spoke to her and showed her my hair. Again, I was so embarrassed. I told her my stylist (Amy) said, in order to get my darker roots, from my root touch ups out/lifted I needed a bleach wash. She gave me one, blow dried my hair and then started again to bleach it with partial highlights. She also did a root color. After shampoo and rinsing she toned my hair, twice. She said it was taking long she needed to keep blending cause of my "hot roots". I didn't know what she meant until she blow dried my hair. My highlights were so uneven and didn't come up to my roots, my hair had been stripped of natural color from the bleach wash and was so brassy. I didn't have highlights it was like one bleached color. When I pointed out these things, she said, well if you have time, I'll do another retouch and add toner. I was so scared. I asked to go to the restroom and called/FaceTime my sister. She was mortified. She told me the only way to fix it so it didn't look so bad was to do a dark root rub and tone it down to make it look more like an ombré. I went to speak to my stylist who was mixing in the back and told her what my sister said (she was still on the phone) she said that is what she told me she was doing. That she would tone it. Toner??? I could hear my Sis in the background on the phone saying what??? Long story short, the stylist told me she was putting a level 6 on my roots to blend out the hot roots and used the same level toner on my hair to take out the brassiness. End result, my roots/crooked highlights aren't so noticeable but my hair color is so bad. I probably need to hold out for a month or so to get my hair strong enough to correct it. Anyone reading, any help/recommendations are welcome. read more

Super disappointed. I scheduled an appointment for up-dos for myself and two daughters. I asked how much it would cost and the lady told me $60 and up. I asked to pay after my hair was done because I needed to get my make-up done. The lady said it would be hard to pay before doing my daughters' hair, but I said I had another appointment. The lady charged me $160 and then $140 each for my two girls, who are only 9 and 6. I felt extremely ripped off. read more

I get things happen in life but what happened to call her customers and leave a message so they don't take off of work to be disappointed. She is very knowledgeable, and very friendly. She did an awesome job on my hair. My hair is thick, coarse and natural wavy curl so she really took the time to cut my hair and make it exactly what It looks like on the hairstyle photo I showed her. Was pleasantly surprised that this salon opened a location on base. They were nice enough to get me in for an appointment in less than 48 hours and Darleen did an excellent job on fixing a disastrous haircut and color I had at a previous salon. I paid a hefty price to get my color corrected and hair properly cut, but honestly it was worth it as now I'm not embarrassed about my hair. I don't know how the other stylist are as far as work wise, but Darleen is great and I highly recommend her. If you don't like a crazy busy salon then I recommend going during the week or taking their first appointment available (it's what I do). read more

Scheduled a hair cut & eyebrow waxing with them and was not disappointed! I had A LOT of hair going in so it was a bit to manage. I loved how my hair turned out. My eyebrows came out great as well. She was so kind and patient well I explained to her my situation and what I wanted. She truly took her time to give me the exact haircut I wanted. After I got my haircut I decided I also wanted to do some partial highlights. After a brief explanation of what I wanted Lou knew exactly what to do. Well doing my highlights she could sense I was a little hesitant and she reassured me that it was good to look great and wow she was right! "Whoa wtf, where am I?" I seriously had to step back out to make sure this was the place I had to meet my friend who was getting her hair done. C'mon, I was seriously expecting some lil' cheap lookin' salon with mediocre stylists as you normally would on a military installation. Imagine my surprise when I walked into this beautiful, modern looking salon. Twilight Zone moment for sure. I get deeper into the salon to look for my friend who was at the shampoo bowl. I passed two cozy looking rooms which were set up to do facials and massages. I've never seen that on a military base. My friend then tells me it's gonna take a while because they're doing some Brazilian thing to make her hair pretty, I don't know, whatever. I'm kind of annoyed at this point and not hiding it from my friend or her stylist, who then tells me I can lay down at the next shampoo bowl. Okayyy biiish, that chair frikken reclines, feet up, head back and all. I was starting to feel relaxed again. Then I decide to get a facial to relax even more and kill some time. Best decision all week. Tianna and her damn delicate hands were enough to get me hooked. She gave me a facial massage, extracted some bulls*it clogging up my pores, exfoliated and I don't even know what else. I just know that when I was done, my face felt squeaky clean and soft and pleasantly minty fresh. My friend still wasn't done with her hair so I decided to get a massage too. Brandy was the masseuse and I am still mad I didn't kidnap her and take her home with me. MaaGawwwwd!!!! That massage was incredible. Best I've had in a lonnnng time. I have a really bad back and plantar fasciitis, but I walked outta this joint feelin like a brand new woman. I will definitely be back. Went in and was greeted by stylist at reception counter. I explained I just needed a quick trim. The lady asked if I wanted a wash and style as well and I kindly declined. The stylist then says to me that my hair is wavy / curly and has layers so that will be an extra charge. I hesitantly said ok. She then asks again if I was sure I didn't want wash and style and again I kindly said no thank you I only need a quick trim. She finally brought me back to the styling chair picks up the scissors and pokes it into my hair and starts cutting. She didn't brush it, spray it or even make sure it was even. My hair is long about to mid back. My stomach dropped and I asked why she was just randomly cutting. She assured me this was her way and I said I would be more comfortable if she would at least wet it to ensure it was evenly cut. Her reply was well you wanted a quick trim. I could not believe the sarcasm. I can only assume she was upset I didn't want any thing extra. I had to explain sometimes I straighten my hair or curl it. I don't always wear it natural. Why did I even have to explain. What is with the unprofessionalism? Don't waste your money here go to the NEX. Their prices are more reasonable, their staff is way more professional, and they actually care about their clients. If I could, this place wouldn't get any stars. read more

Florida did an amazing job transforming my short hair. I went in with a boring over-grown pixie that needed a lot of shaping and texture. I showed her a few Pinterest pictures and she gave me exactly what I asked for but tailored to my head/face/ hair. She's so sweet and I really enjoyed my experience at the salon. And ladies looking for someone who is especially comfortable with shorter hairstyles, go see Florida.
