I felt pretty ashamed for waiting/procrastinating for so long to get a haircut (my hair was a couple inches above my rear)and Addie didn't make me feel bad at all. She made me feel comfortable through the whole experience. I even scheduled my next haircut to keep me on track! The customer service was great! They offered a beverage right away, provided coupons since it was my first visit, and I loved getting my hair shampooed/conditioned. It was a relaxing experience! Like many, I just had my first hair cut/color since COVID hit. Mariah was super friendly, knowledgeable, and gave great advice as to what would/wouldn't work with my fine and thin hair. She listened to what I wanted, asked for photos, and was honest with her input. Couldn't ask for more! The facility is nice, updated, and clean and I was surprised to see a store within it with jewelry, bags, and clothes in addition to the usual hair and beauty care. They have a table at the door where you must sign in, answer COVID questions, and have your temp taken prior to washing your hands. Masks are required with very few wearing under nose or as a chin strap. My haircut and highlight took about 2.5 hours total and was was a relaxing and pleasant experience. I signed up for $115 partial highlight and cut and ended up spending $160. (+tip) Not exactly sure where the additional charge came in. I love my hair and it no longer looks like a mousy brown limp noodle. It just would have been nice to know that additional charges beyond the expected would be tacked on. If you go there, you should also anticipate some pretty heavy product pushing for hair care products (expected at almost any salon, of course). Overall great experience. I will be back to Mariah. Salon Biyoshi is such a cute salon. I felt welcomed and everyone was extremely nice but the MVP was my stylist Davina!!! This girl is AMAZING! I am so impressed by her. I literally brought her a project and it was later in the evening! Let me tell you she nailed it! Davina never once complained she was very attentive, professional, patient, and a such a sweetheart. The salon is taking excellent precautions to keep clients safe. Miracle was very knowledgeable on hair and she gave me a great haircut. COVID-19 notes from my visit on 02/08/21: I felt very safe. Social distancing was enforced. Everyone's mask was on properly the whole time, including clients' masks. They sorted clean & unclean pens and were meticulously intentional about it. They have clients wash their hands at the beginning. They give clients hand sanitizer at checkout. My hairdresser washed my hair and blow-dried my hair during my visit. My hair type: Virgin; bust-length (pre-appointment); thick, fine-textured; straight. I scheduled my appointment the day-of. I wanted a trim of 1-4 inches. My last haircut was 1.5+ years ago. I wanted the damaged hair chopped. I do not know much about hair. Miracle does. When I was indecisive about what I wanted (layers, face-framing bits, the exact length -- AKA basically the entire cut), she made excellent well-informed decisions about my haircut that were right for my hair type. Alright, I've been here a few times and it's time to share all of my experiences and adventures here. I'll try to make it short. Very lovely place, friendly staff, I love that I can enjoy wine or beer while I wait and while I get my hair done. My first time here, I had a least 6 inches of regrowth of my natural dark hair over my previously done full blonde highlights. I wanted to go red, a natural red, like Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls. The first time it came out okay- I liked the color in some lighting and not so much in others. Overall, it looked great but it just looked like the bottom of my hair was darker and didn't really take to the red. The next time I came, I saw the same girl as before. I told her I wanted the bottom lightened, and maybe the color a bit overall. It looked better, but the roots were now a little too dark. I think it was difficult to get the roots to match because last time half of my hair was mostly blonde, whereas now all my new growth was dark. The third time I went, I went to the same girl and by this time, she'd corrected the formula with my darker hair and my hair was perfect when I left. I was so happy, finally! Things would have been great if I could have kept going to her. But she was booked the next two times I tried to come in. So I had to see someone else. This new girl touched up my roots and didn't lighten them first like the other girl usually did. By the time they blow-dried my hair, it honestly looked like I didn't even get my roots touched up as they were still so dark! The last time I went to Salon Biyoshi, the same girl did my hair as the time before. I figured she had a bit more experience with it now and maybe it would come out right. I told her to use lightener before making it red & etc, but she left it on for too long and I ended up with highlighter yellow/orange hotroot! I was trying not to drink this visit, but after seeing my hair I had to have some wine. Luckily, the girl who'd done my hair the first few times was there with another client and she was able to come over and fix it so I didn't leave looking like a hot mess. So overall, if you are looking for something specific, be consistent and try to schedule with the same person each visit. I wish they'd fixed my hair when I left those few visits where I obviously wasn't happy with the outcome. I hope I'll have better luck maintaining the color I want when I pick out a new salon to frequent. I'd have given them 2 stars if it weren't for the friendliness and hospitality here. read more

ago Critical: Cleanliness, Professionalism, Quality, Value The worst experience from the moment I walked in the door to now......and the lady who answered the phone Pam she is rude and doesn't care what I had to say . I had hair extensions put in which you all know it's very expensive. I had to go back a week later because it was uneven the hair Kristen cut it she supposed to slither cut she chopped it you'll see photos. I then called the salon they had me come back in again. I spoke with Devin and text several times at the beginning he was nice and then his true colors came out rude and unprofessional just like the owners. They want me to come back in and get it fixed Extensions that fall out less than a week five of them. I told him I did not want to cut my hair to get extensions is to have long hair short hair they offered they would give me a deep conditioning treatment they cannot refund my money. I did speak with Devin again yesterday 9-17-2020 which I was supposed to come in today Friday to have her fix it and put the extensions in unfortunately was a mess up on the day I got a call from Davin this morning that he spoke with the owners and for me to take my service to another salon to get it fixed they were not going to the look at the frizzy hair and the bad cut !!!! I got my hair cut by Kayla yesterday, and I think she did a wonderful job. She not only knew what she was doing when it comes to cutting and styling hair, but she also was considerate and personable. She was worried that I'd be upset about how short my hair would be, so she cut it in stages. I wasn't worried at all because I've rocked the short haircut often. That being said, when she was done she rinsed my hair again (per my request) and then added some mousse and blew dry it with the diffuser. I have curly hair, so I'm pretty picky about the way my hair is cut. I don't like looking like a Christmas tree of have earth Vader helmet. She already knew what I was talking about and added layers. The salon was bigger than any salon I'd ever seen. It had a boutique attached with clothing, jewelry, skin care, and hair care products. It was really a nice atmosphere. read more

WOW WOW WOW I felt like I was in the most amazing 'big city' salon and there I was...in Knoxville! The staff is outstanding and the services offered are fantastic! A top 200 Redken salon...a designation that led me to Salon Biyoshi after moving several hundred miles from my last ELite 200 salon and absolutely thrilled with the results! I really like how the shampoo area is set apart from the color bar and styling area. The stations are a nice size and smartly designed to hold a handbag so it does not have to go on the floor, with sturdy hooks beneath the counter. Large mirrors give a great view of the progress and finished look. Bathrooms are individual, not stalls in one room, and the privacy level is appreciated. The pedicure area is in a quiet, relaxing corner so you can truly get the full spa treatment during your foot care time. There is lots of parking,the hours are amazing and the owner engagement and commitment to educating each of the team members was fully evident in my first visit. Cannot wait to return! read more

I had an AMAZING first experience with Brandon a few months back. It was a Sunday, they were short handed, and my appointment was late. Like, we left after 8pm, late. Brandon didn't once make me feel bad for how late we finished or make me feel he wasn't giving me his full attention. He really completed everything single detail of my appointment and I left feeling amazing. I came in with HORRIBLY brassy hair and left almost platinum. I just finished up at my second appointment at this salon with Irene. She did a really good job, took her time, and made sure I was happy before I left. My only complaint was she was extremely rough. I was a Groupon holder for a manicure and pedicure with Tori. Normally, I would not patronize this type of establishment due to the high price tag for all services. However, when a Groupon comes out for a place like this...I'm there! I have experienced MANY mani/pedis at salons across the country. Most are done by non-English speaking techs who are more interested in talking to their cohorts than to customers. This is not the case at this salon. Tori is an American born and bred. She is super friendly, attentive, very respectful, doesn't rush, and makes you feel like a million bucks! Wow! Tori, without the salon services, is worth going to see. As far as the actual services, they were alright. My manicure was better than my pedicure because Tori KNEW what I meant when I said I wanted my nails buffed instead of polished. I left looking like I had clear polish on when in fact they are my actual nails. She is a nail artist as well for those of you who like pictures on your fingers. I wasn't too keep on the lotion used for the hand massage. Too much perfume. The lotion used is a brand they sell on site. The pedicure was average. She took her time which was a welcomed change. She do used a heel scrubber type thing instead of a heel file. I still have hard calluses on my heel but the scrubber was nicer than the file. The nail products used are CND and Esse. The scrubber and leg massage lotions and salt scrubs and buffer are OPI. Oh and after your pedi she places your feet in REAL flip flops and not those paper thin things you get at other places. For you Cajun Shrimp fans...ask for Lobster Roll. This salon offers wine, beer, soda, water and snacks. They have pellet ice...yes...seriously! And first timers leave with a goodie box. As beautiful, friendly and clean this place is the equality of work is subpar especially considering the prices. I've went to stylist from level one to the very top in a matter what the blow out always looks like I've been electrified. All the haircut are done dried, which makes the hair looks uneven. I understand this technique may work for some situations but here they all use it, and it is not a technique that can be used on all types of hair. So as far as color, cuts and blowouts, I give it a one star. As far as prices for quality, I give it a two star. As far as The employees I give it a four-star. I give it a four-star because I've seen multiple hair dress and some are five star friendly, and others are in a rush to get you out of their seat. Ironically, the higher level of one who get paid way more, are the ones that are in a rush. Which would be fine if my hair comes out the way I I'd like and how much I paid for it and when I tell you, I had the simplest style done. It was black hair with a straight cut and blow out. It looks like I had flipped my hair upside down and blew dried it myself and then flipped it back up, combed it and called it a day I had to ask for anti-frizz multiple times because it was that bad and they were slightly annoyed when I asked for this since it was obvious, I wasn't satisfied but I paid what I owed and I left. No matter whether you get your hair bleached or you get your hair colored at a dark color, you're walking out with more damaged hair then you came in with. read more

I like to be specific about what I want so before making my appointment I saved some pictures of hairstyles I liked and texted myself some keywords. I then made a last minute appointment with Sarah Brown. It was my first visit at Salon Biyoshi and before starting our appointment Sarah showed me around the salon which I appreciated and have never had someone give me a quick tour around before. The real awesomeness started when we sat to talk about what I wanted to achieve with my color. I wanted a refresh on my color and I showed Sarah a few pictures, and from the pictures I showed her she then threw a few key terms at me, it was exactly what I'd texted myself! This was a testament to her expertise. You guys, she killed it, she did a mix of foils and balayage and her technique is really good. Firstly, I'm really sorry to write this, but the last 3 times I got my hair done here ( 2 appointments and 1 fixing ), I could never have it finished in the color I wanted although I requested the same thing every time. The problem is, we did talk a lot about the possible results. We did assure that we could do something close to that. For me, I just wanted that ashy look so bad, so when it turned out to be the same brassy, orangey and dark hair again, I'm hopelessly disappointed. I'm feeling terrible right now. The customer care was as good and decent as always here, however, nothing on my hair looks like what we had agreed on. The hairstylist ended up saying that because my hair was so dry, we couldn't make it that color. I think that's what we should have known initially, shouldn't we? We could have changed the color and the costs too, I guess, if you hadn't been so sure about the outcome, but you were. Finally, my hair's got so dry now, I can't get it fixed no more, I think I gotta wait for months to recover it or to ever get it dyed again. I can't go back anymore. read more

I went in asking for a dry curly cut, which was what the first half of my appointment was, but then the stylist washed my hair and went back in to "clean up the ends" which ended up making my hair cut a wet straight cut. Wasn't quite the cut or outcome I was hoping for, as my curls ended up being different lengths. I wasn't overly impressed with the friendliness of the front desk, but thought the little "first time customer" gift bag was a nice touch. read more

One of my best experiences at a salon so far in Knoxville and in general! I'm from CA originally. I came for my nails and waxing. The salon was able to book my eyebrow wax and gel nail appointment in one day! Brandy(? Sorry if wrong spelling) did my eyebrows and though she usually does hair, she was friendly and did a nice job. She gave me a little tour of the salon and all the staff I interacted with were so hospitable! I got my nails done with Torie and she was fantastic! Reallt personable and down to earth. I felt comfortable with her and she did my nails great. I'd recommend this spa for anyone and I am looking forward to getting my hair done here soon! read more

I went and had my hair cut here a few weeks ago for the first time. I wanted to wait a while to see how I felt about my hair and not just go by day 1. Well, I loved my hair then and I love it now too! My hair was done by Ashton. I really liked her whole way she provided service from start to end. She really made me feel like what I wanted matter and she really listened to what I told her I wanted with my hair and the goals I had with my style. She sat down and talked to me face-to-face on my level and didn't stand over me or talk down to me, and unlike the last 2 hair stylists I had, she would actually make sure I was ok with where she was going length-wise before cutting anymore off. She is also the only stylist to style my hair without having to use a flat iron, ever! So, major props to her! The staff seemed really friendly as well. I recieved a welcome kit, which included $10 off my next visit (and who doesn't love that!). All together, my wash, cut, and style came to $36 (not including tip), which is not bad at all, especially for a real salon. The place is also nicely decorated and well kept. Very professional looking and clean. Everything looks up to date. They play Top 40 hits as background music too. Another really nice feature that I enjoyed about this salon is that it was open at 8am, which really helps me out! I work nights, so the morning is like my evening and unfortunately most salons in the area do not open up until about 10am or even later, which is when I am getting ready to wind down. I also was a walk-in and able to get service right away and they were not snotty about me not having an appointment either. The only downside, for me, was that they use Redkin products exclusively and unfortunately my hair does not like Redkin shampoo or conditioner, as it always makes my hair come out. Birthday Fiasco Two weeks ago, my wife had an upcoming birthday. Knowing that she wanted a spa day - massage, facial, mani/pedi, I instinctively looked up Salon Biyoshi as my wife had been there and the container bearing their name had been sitting on my vanity for months. Without much thought, I purchased a $250 gift certificate via the website. The transaction completed, however the image that was supposed to be created for me to print out, so I had something to present to her, failed to render. I called the salon the next day and they told me it was no problem, they had a record of my transaction, without the slightest realization that I didn't have anything to "give." I made the off-hand remark if it was ok to just use a crayon and paper in place of the certificate, I was told that was fine. After presenting my wife with a homemade gift card on her birthday, she was thrilled. This week she decides she should look into making an appointment as she is stoked for a "spa day." As she is reviewing the website, it appears that they don't offer such services. I also look, and draw the same conclusion. She calls the next day to confirm that our thoughts are correct - as indeed they are. Well damn I think to myself, I should have done a better job checking. This is the part where I acknowledge that yes - I didn't review the website for services offered. I made an assumption, and it was wrong. So, the next day we call the salon and explain the situation with the person who answered the phone - requesting a refund so that my wife can get what she actually wanted for her birthday. Very polite, very understanding. However, the next day we get a call back stating that no - they don't refund gift certificates. This seems odd to me - someone made a reasonable mistake - there must be someone who I can talk to and straighten this out. After a day of phone tag - I am on my 3rd person trying to explain my position. I just wanted my wife to have a spa day - her response - we don't have those services - but there are no refunds - we have services and products. Taken aback and trying to reason, I point out that there are no terms on the website with reference to the gift certificate. Her response is that Target and Walmart gift certificates aren't refundable...I didn't think I was dealing with Walmart. I said look, the transaction went through PayPal...just do a reversing transaction...and I asked that they keep 10% as an inconvenience fee - to cover the cost of the transactions through PayPal. Again, she stated they don't refund gift certificates. They don't - or perhaps they just won't. At the end of it all Salon Biyoshi has my $250 and my wife didn't get her spa day...which has left us both rather aggravated at the whole thing. In conclusion - yes, I assumed incorrectly and hoped that reasonable discourse would prevail, however it appears that padding your bottom line at the expense of decent customer service has won the day.
