Kare-N-Touch is a small day spa in a small town in NY. There were a few manicure tables, a few…read morepedicure chairs, and I think two massage and one wax room, but I might be off on that. Restroom in the back was clean. This is a review only of massage there. I had no nail or wax experience. I was going to be in the area and planned ahead for a massage. I made an apt weeks in advance, which was easily moved a little earlier the day of. Very nice to have that flexibility. I was planning on a deep tissue massage, but the therapist informed me when we were chatting she does not do those. Then asked "do you still want the massage". That was my second clue that she may not "want to be here". The first was when I walked in and she told me to fill out a release form, without introducing herself or anything like that. The room was fine, the table comfortable. I asked for the music to be turned down, and she said "Ill put massage music on", but the volume remained oddly high. I think that was because the walls there are thin and we could hear the conversation outside happening. So much for the "quiet massage space" we usually expect in a massage. The massage itself was fine, a full hour, but not great. She did do a pretty deep massage for someone who says they don't do that, but it was all very impersonal somehow. I felt like she did not want to be there at all, and it came through in so many of her actions. I was planning to get another massage the next night, but decided against it. Not worth it. Appointment only for all services. Website lists an email address but they don't use it. Better to call. Easy parking.

Great pedicures and manicures. Be sure to make an appointment as they are very busy.read more

I have always had beautiful thick long hair, and I mean long: when I was 12, my hair was past the middle of my back, so you can imagine my horror when I looked in the mirror and saw the jagged lengths of a Beetle cut hanging around my oval-shaped face. So I cried all the way home. I cried some more when I got home. I didn't stop for a long time, and I didn't get a haircut again for a long time. All good things must come to an end, though, and my hair, which used to be a good thing, ended in nothing but split ends. I knew I needed a haircut but I had no idea where to go. Then my aunt, who lives in Chaffee, recommended that I try The Colour Barre out in Arcade. At first I laughed at the idea. My mom and 2 of her sisters recently took the recommendation of the third (the one in Chaffee) and started taking bi-monthly group outings to get their hair done. They would leave around 5PM on a Thursday night and not return home till 10PM or later. Obviously: Arcade is about a 45-minute drive from my Buffalo HQ. Needless to say I finally started going there with MY sister, and now I refuse to go anywhere else. Getting a haircut is an event. We leave the house at 7:30AM on a Saturday and fuel up for the drive with bagels and coffee from Dunkin. Our appointments last anywhere from 2-6 hours, depending on who is having what done (cut? color? wax?). But it's totally worth it. Tanya, Monica, and Chrystie are all great stylists, but I won't go to anyone except Chrystie. (I love her so much that when I was living in Indiana, I arranged weekend trips back to Buffalo, not to visit my family, but to get a haircut from Chrystie.) She understands my Lebanese hair and my crazy Italian eyebrows, and her work NEVER disappoints. I always walk out of The Colour Barre with a fresh, modern haircut (and color if I choose), perfect eyebrows, and no 'stache to be seen. Plus the girls who work there are so fun; I would go there for the gossip, junk food, and coffee alone. Money is no object when it comes to your hair, but the price is worth a mention here. I have never paid more than $55.00 for the total package--cut, color, and wax. I think that price is beyond reasonable, and honestly I always walk away with a heavy wallet and an awesome sexy haircut, feeling like a straight up smooth criminal.
