If you're in Laveen, I would honestly sacrifice the drive for somewhere more established. I have been a loyal customer for years, and even just got my daughter's hair cut there 3 days ago. "Alta Moda" or "Hello Salon" requires a confirmation 48 hours in advance AFTER you have already made the appointment through their website AND waited for an email confirmation to see if it was accepted. I wasn't able to confirm my appointment until the day before my appointment, and I know they usually need a confirmation text the day they send the text (bc I've been going to them for years), but since I've been loyal and hoped that they would remember me, I didn't stress too much. Until I received a CANCELLATION text the morning of my appt. Called and they did in fact give up my appt. As I am upset, I'm happy that I now know they don't give above and beyond service, so I just wanted to warn others while I move on to a better salon. read more

Since the move, I've now been getting my hair done by Arleth, as Shana recommended I see her once she moves away. She's super sweet. She does my hair color exactly how I want it, honestly even better than it was when I had it done by Shana! I just went a few days ago and got partial highlights, toner, and a haircut for $205 with tip. Arleth is great at highlights. I recently visited this salon and had the pleasure of working with Eddie. I have very thick head of fine hair - which I like to keep a lighter tone of blonde but have difficulties maintaining a schedule. I asked Eddie to help me achieve something that would be manageable and low maintenance - a lot of my natural color has been growing out and as I struggle to keep up with my blonde, I needed something that would look more natural as it grew out. Eddie was able to achieve EXACTLY what I asked for, and even though I have ALOT of hair, he felt meticulous in everything he did - he did not rush through any of the process and ensured that I had a very consistent, and soft, color throughout. I got recommended to this salon from a friend and she said Renate-Maria did a good job with her and her sister's hair. She told me that she really knows a lot about asian hair. Boy was she wrong. When my hair was done, the layers looked nothing like the picture (she made it choppy), my side bangs weren't even side bangs BC SHE CUT IT ALL THE WAY UP TO MY EAR INSTEAD OF MY JAWLINE. AND MY BANGS AT THE FRONT WERE THICK AND LOOK, AGAIN, NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE. She and her coworkers gaslighted me saying that my hair was thick and that i got exactly what i wanted. Like first of all the bangs look like this because YOU took a big chunk from the top. like she deadass took hair from my forehead to the middle of my head and said my bangs look like that bc my hair is too thick LIKE YOU MADE IT THICK NOT MY HAIR??? I came here maybe about 3/4 months ago for a haircut and a hair treatment, it was about 50/60 for my haircut due to the stylist being a senior/ jr something like that yet halfway through the haircut the main lady doing my haircut left and someone else stepped in to finish. I didn't complain because staff was friendly but why take a client you can't finish if they're paying for YOUR rate? My hair has not grown since the cut, or hair treatment.. in fact my hair is excessively stretchy as if I had just bleached my whole head. (This is not an exaggeration, my hair is disgusting now.) I hadn't dyed, bleached, or had anybody other than myself touch my hair in over a year. I came here due to the good reviews and it being local in the laveen area, but never again will I trust this salon or the workers. read more

I really want to give this place more stars because the ladies were very friendly and the shop was cute but I can't. I went there to correct the terrible layers I gave myself. And do some really light thinning. instead, I came out looking like a boy, my hair was heavily thinned out and had gotten really short with really awkward layers. My hair wasn't that bad when I came in but when I left, it was the WORST hair cut I have ever gotten. It's so bad and not remotely close to what I wanted at all. I unfortunately also experienced the stylist painfully scratching the top of my ear with a comb repeatedly. At the end she was so aggressive and her nails kept scratching my forehead I have a couple marks from that. I took the chance and tried a new place to get a hair cut. I do have to say, I'm so happy about taking that chance. Renae listened to exactly what I wanted, gave me her opinion and I ended up getting exactly what I wanted. After not getting a hair cut for over a year and a half, I was so nervous but left feeling great with great looking hair. My only issue is that I only requested a hair cut and shampoo nothing else. After the hair cut, she did begin blow drying my hair, I thought ok maybe since it's cold, it's a nice gesture. But she ended up styling it. Yes, I could have said something but I could hear my husband's voice in my head telling me to just go with it and get a little pampered. i went in for a root touch up and color refresh with Corena and unfortunately i did not get the outcome i wanted. after getting my roots touched up, they were bright orange and the rest of my hair was copper. after Corena was done with my service, she said something along the lines of ,"if you think it's too bright you can come back and i'll tone it down". that let me know even she knew that she'd messed up my hair. no stylist offers to fix their work at another time unless it's bad. i was charged $190 for this service. read more

Haircut was great and fantastic even. My only concern was the the fact that she kept combing through my knots (like from the root and tugging the knot loose). Now, I'm Mexican so I'm pretty used to hair pulling. I just wish she didn't tug right from the root but rather the knot itself. (I have dyed hair so I'm trying to not lose anymore hair as it's damaged already) This also could be because I have thicker hair (easily knots/reinforced knots). It's embarrassing cause I haven't gone to the salon in a while so I thought it was normal and I had to get used to the pain. By the time I realized how painful the experience really was, I was crying in the salon chair. I was embarrassed and didn't want to say it hurt so I just continued with the service. She also told me to take out my industrial piercing (Reason: to not hurt me). I've never had to do that before, but I obliged. At least my hair looks pretty? read more

I am new to the Laveen area and looking for a salon to support in my neighborhood. I scheduled an appointment on line as per their recommendation. I showed up a few minutes early for my appointment and was informed that my stylist was finishing up with a another customer. So I waited patiently for a half hour as I know stylists can get behind. I waited another 10 minutes and watched as the stylist then started to curl the hair of the customer. All of our time is valuable and I was done wasting my time on a salon that can't provide basic customer service. If the stylist was running an hour over time, please contact your "scheduled" customers so they can adjust accordingly or make a different appointment time. I am sure the stylists and owners of the salon aren't going to wait an hour after the "scheduled" time for the customer to arrive. Service is important and you lost a very loyal potential customer today. My last salon I stayed with for 15 years. So, if you want to use this salon you may try the walk in approach as a scheduled appointment appears to be a worthless effort. read more
