I recently visited this salon with several family members for wedding hair and makeup. The hair services were outstanding--Marlene did an incredible job on my hair, and everyone else had glowing experiences with their respective stylists. The entire salon staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. On the other hand, the makeup application was highly disappointing. The artist was disengaged and lacked professional warmth. More importantly, the execution was poor; the foundation looked caked on, highlighted my fine lines, and photographed with a strange orange hue. read more

Friendly service and curly cut was on point! We appreciated that our stylist listened to our requests and knew how to cut curls/wavy hair read more

AVOID at all costs - I came here for highlights and unfortunately had a terrible experience. They BURNED my forehead and the stylist was negligent and unqualified. Color was brassy. read more

Came for a cut and style a few months ago. Opted for a junior stylist for curl specific haircut. It was a standard cut, pretty boring despite showing pics of prior cuts and what I wanted. We also had to spend an extra 30-60min fixing my hair after it was dry due to one side being way longer than the other. Despite requesting curl specific cut, this girl definitely did not specialize in curls. Prices luckily weren't outrageous with junior cut. Def would not return for curly cut. read more

Went there 3 times and unfortunately last two visits were very disappointing. The service I asked for wasn't done properly either time, and the results were far from what we discussed. I normally stay very loyal to my hairdresser and rarely switch salons, but after these two experiences my hair was honestly damaged and I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed (which they did and with no issues). Very frustrating experience and definitely not what I expected after reading all the positive reviews here. The salon itself is in a nice area. read more

I got a haircut from Yulieth and am still getting compliments... it has been over a month since my haircut! I loved my experience and cannot wait to go back next month to see Yulieth again, highly recommend booking with her. She really listens to what you want and DELIVERS...she is also so wonderful to chat with :) read more

I recently visited Salon 718 in Dumbo after bookmarking this place approximately 5 years ago! I was certainly hesitant to visit a new salon and esp as a person of color I wasn't sure if Salon 718 could give me the "silky smooth" blow out that I needed. After re-reading through countless reviews I settled on Salon 718 and booked with Diamond! Diamond SLAYED my hair and gave my hair everything and more that it needed! She was very pleasant and got right down to business! I'm looking forward to returning to her consistently (every 3 mths!) so she can help me keep my hair healthy! Highly recommend Salon 718! read more

calling all curly girls! Marlene is the curl reviver. I have been seeing her for 9 months and my brittle hair has grown so much. She showed me Mizani products and that has helped tremendously. Thanks Marlene & Salon 718! love the dumbo location. read more

Women with hair that's between curly and wavy, this is the place for you! I've been going here for years, but all their locations are a little far, so every once in a while I'll try somewhere closer. And every time I get a crooked cut. But never at Salon 718. It's a good value and great cut! And I've never had an overly chatty stylist, so a plus for me. read more

I recently visited Salon 718 in Carroll Gardens to get highlights. My stylist was Ruben and he was absolutely amazing! Ruben understood what color i wanted for my HL. The salon is so nice, clean, and all the stylist there are so friendly and supportive to each other! I'm looking forward to my next visit with Ruben! read more

Appointments are pointless you'll stay waiting an hour over your appointment just for them to rush the service

I live in the area and never even knew this place was here! Marlenie did my hair and gave me a curly trim. My gosh that trim was better than any curly cut I have gotten. She is very knowledgeable about curls and knows how to get you where you want to be. I plan on sticking with her! read more

Incredible experience having my bridal hair and makeup done here for my wedding. Jen (hair) and Mariah (mua) did both my trial and day-of HMU. My mom got hers done too and we both received compliments all night. Briana (manager who scheduled everything) was easy to work with!! Super convenient locations around the city, this location is in the base of the 1Hotel BK Bridge Park where I was getting ready that made it all that much easier. Do not hesitate to book here! read more

I had a great experience in this salon. Kateryna was my stylist; she listens very well and was very careful with my haircut (I have long, wavy hair). Excellent experience. read more

If you have short hair, do not book Marlena. She called to cancel my appointment claiming "she does not do short hair." Highly unprofessional. read more

10/10 experience! Janelle absolutely killed my hair! I was super nervous about finding a new hair dresser since moving to the city. I heard about Janelle through an influencer I trust and took the leap of faith coming to her and I'm so glad I did. She did everything I asked for and more! Salon 718 - Hair Salons Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I got my haircut at Salon 718 yesterday and I couldn't regret it more. I came in with hair just above my bra strap and a photo of a long shag, which the article attached called "the octopus cut". Well I just washed my hair and I don't think I've ever had such an unflattering cut. Not only does it not look like a long shag, it has no shape and my fringe is cut so short I'm embarrassed to go outside. Furthermore, the length, which was supposed to fall to my collarbone when dry, is above my shoulders and hits at the middle of my neck. I would say it's a good 3 inches too short and about 4 inches shorter than the photo I brought in. I had a very long discussion about how the last place I got my hair cut took a razor to the ends which immediately and destroyed my hair for about six weeks. Agreeing with me that that was a bad method to cut my hair type, I was hopeful the stylist understood hair texture and the results wouldn't have come out as tragically. Boy was I wrong. I would rather have a haircut that looked good with ends that were going to need extra attention in order to prevent further damage than the haircut I received at Salon 718. I will never step foot into this salon ever again and will actively dissuade anyone in Dumbo from getting their hair cut there. Lastly, the cut was expensive and the default tipping options started at 20%. I normally tip 20-25%, but with the amount of talking I had to endure during the service and the resulting disaster I now have to hide whilst I grow it out, was not worth the time wasted or the money spent. Very much do not recommend. read more

i tried 718 Dumbo multiple times - mediocre cuts at best. I would have tried one more time except last time at the end of the cut -she said do you want to tip me in cash or on your card read more

Had a balayage done here and over a month and a half later my hair turned orange. Been waiting to hear back for a refund since July. The stylist did not use foil and did not even do a root shadow for my grays. I want a refund for the balayage as it became a mess within a few washes. You're ignoring my emails for a refund of the balayage $250 as my bill was $500. I'm being fair on my end here. Take reasonability for your mistake. I find this to be awful and greedy at this point. Go elsewhere, as they couldn't get my hair right at their two locations. read more

Janelle is the most talented hairdresser! She colors my hair, and I cannot praise her or her work enough! She is wonderful, 10 stars :)

I went in to get a gloss done, haircut and blowout by Maria and I absolutely loved the service provided. She listened to what I wanted to get done and the customer service was incredible. The environment was friendly and comfortable and everything seemed very modern. 10/10 would definitely recommend. read more

I really struggled finding a good place to get my hair colored and cut in the city, but I'm happy to say Salon 718 dumbo is now my PLACE! I wanted a specific shade of copper that no other place could really nail, Lauren made my hair look FANTASTIC- exactly what I wanted, and was such a pleasure to chat with. I can't believe I was paying double, even triple the price to get the most average service paired with rude attitude at places I went to previously. Everyone at this salon is warm and sweet. It is such an enjoyable and pleasant experience. 100/10 would recommend!! read more

A year ago I came to Salon 718 to finally do a big chop with Diamond. From the mintue I met Diamond she was able to relate to my hair struggles and was able to guide me to what it was going to take to get my hair healthy again. Every appointment there is so much kindness and cleanliness presented at this salon. And you always leave Diamonds chair with more knowledge and with healthier hair than the previous month. Investment in your hair is a commitment and I know that now. 10/10 recommend this place and Diamond read more

Great experience at Salon 718. Marlene did a really nice job on my hair. I've been letting my hair grow out due to covid and it was time for a new cut. Marlene was very friendly and took her time and left with some gorgeous hair. read more

Lauren is a GENIUS! My hair has never looked this great! I have been getting so many compliments!

Had my first appointment at 718 on Saturday and I LOVED it! The ambiance is perfect, trendy but cozy. But most importantly I loved it because of my stylist, Aida. To put it simply she is so amazing that I drove all the way from Central Nassau County to Dumbo just to see her. She's worth the BQE traffic. 10/10 would recommend to a friend! read more

Salon 718 is a fantastic salon. Each stylist is smart, friendly and KNOWS about hair. And I mean all hair: natural hair, treated hair, straight hair - I am a black woman with curly hair and Karina knows how to diagnose, cut and style my hair as if she was born with curly hair herself. Best salon family, hands down, and Karina is a star. read more

I saw Juan today for gloss treatment. He had such a calming, sweet demeanor and was extremely knowledgeable. He showed my the gloss options and helped me choose the right color. He then blow tried my hair - even though that was not included in the treatment I booked - because he cared so much about making sure I had the color I wanted. Juan also made great recommendations to keep my hair healthy and was super gentle with his hair dry. The treatment ended up looking amazing and I will definitely be back! read more

Stylists are very nice and it's a great and clean environment. However, I should've listened to the stylist when she said she didn't specialize in curls. My cut isn't what I wanted at all, and it's worse than when I came in. I'd probably just come for a blowout but curly cuts is clearly not a specialty. read more

Lauren does MAGIC! She is a color wizard! I constantly change my hair from dark to light and it never feels damaged. She suggests all the right things and pampers me. She gets it right E.V.E.R.Y. I just had my hair cut by Alyssa, and she did a fantastic job. Really knew how to advise on style and how to make the best of my curls. I haven't had a cut this good in a long, long time. Service was fast and they ordered up a product for me they didn't have in the store. A great experience and welcome addition to Dumbo! read more

After having two hugely disappointing haircuts at two reputable salons, I was both frustrated and desperate to get a haircut that wouldn't leave me looking like a stereotype for my age. Walking into Salon 718 at the DUMBO location, I was greeted by two attractive upbeat women who made me feel immediately that I was in very good hands. Alyssa sat me down and really listened to what I was explaining and to what I wanted. She then threw out a few ideas of her own which were right in synch with what I was trying to communicate. She did a little sample of a "razor cut" on a small section in the back of my hair and asked me if I liked how it looked. Well that was it!! I knew immediately that she "got me" and that she was going to give me the Fun and Edgy cut that I had been looking for for a long time! Her creative razor skills were making me smile, relax, and forget about how much I had hated my last two hair cuts. When she was all finished, I felt like I had just been given a whole new look, but a look that other stylists hadn't been able to achieve. She is very creatively talented, but even more so, she reads her clients extremely well. And this is what makes the difference between a stylist who just does their "job," and a Master Stylist like Alyssa, who approaches her craft as an artist with insight and a sensitivity to pleasing her clients. What a wonderful way to start my New Year! read more
