I stopped dyeing my hair and let the natural grey hair grow in. I love the wash and go of my natural hair, but I wanted something different for my vacation. I was really undecided about the blowout until a day before my trip. After doing a Google search for salons that do blowouts on natural hair, I came across Samantha's Phenomenal Dezign Hair Studio and gave her a call. She was so nice on the phone and could fit me in the next day. I was thrilled, this was my first trip to Tampa but I got such a great vibe from her, I was willing to Uber from The Water Street Marriott to her shop. She was waiting for me; she washed conditioned, trimed and blew out my hair. She did a fabulous, fabulous job. I can't say enough about what a great experience it was. I haven't seen my hair look that great in years. My husband was stunned! Lol!! If you are ever in Tampa and need your hair done, do yourself a favor and give Samantha a call. Her salon is spotless, her prices are reasonable, she knows her craft, and she has a great personality.

I can't believe I have to make a Yelp account for this but I really felt that I needed to share my…read moreexperience. I had been doing my own hair for months (coloring and cutting) and I thought I treat myself this time on my day off since I'd been working hard. I have called several salons (ones with amazing reviews) but they were booked solid seeing as it was a holiday weekend. I called up BTB and at the time I was so glad to find out they had an opening that day. So I got to the place and it was empty. I was greeted and seated by Ruby. She asked me what I wanted done and after telling her what I thought, she showed me some pictures of amazing ombres on Pinterest. After discussing it a bit, she started working on my hair. During the process, I asked about what she was doing and she casually mentioned that she was doing a "shortcut" for my ombre. Not what I wanted to hear and it made me nervous a little. But as someone who has 13 years of experience in the industry, I just assumed she knew what she was doing. After rinsing and applying the toner, she started to blow dry my hair and just as quickly realized that it didn't look right. So she asked me if I wanted to apply another toner, a darker one. I obviously agreed since I could see that my hair was looking a mess. I had been there for over 3 hours and at that point I really just wanted to get out of there except I can't leave with wet and messed up hair. After the second toner, I got my hair blow dried again. I can tell it was late since another lady decided to help dry my hair. She even said, "Well, it looks good once it's set and done." I was really over it by the end of the day and had somewhere to be since I did ask in the beginning if I would be done by 6pm. I was told that I should be done around that time. I don't know what the heck the final result is called but it is not ombre. I'm never one to not pay after a service (no matter how bad) even though looking back at it and after talking to others, I guess I shouldn't have. This mess cost me $270 dollars including two products (shampoo and conditioner). I've had terrible luck with salons and this is by far my worst one. I left with crazy looking "ombre" and hair too light with green tint. The hair pictures that she showed me in the beginning had beautiful gradient effect that transitions from dark to light. That's not what I got at all as you can see from the pictures. They have told me I had beautiful hair, well...thanks for ruining it. Never going back here again.

I paid $600 in advance for a hair service that was never performed…read more I arrived early for my appointment and waited in my car in the very first parking spot directly in front of the salon. After waiting long enough to be called inside, I approached one of the stylists who was with another client and asked if Tina was ready for me. She told me that Tina had already left. We literally made eye contact, and she had seen me sitting in my car waiting for my appointment. What makes this even more upsetting is Tina's response claiming that I received a refund. I did not receive a refund--not one penny. I can honestly swear that on everything in my life. I contacted my credit card company, and I was told that Tina disputed the charge and they sided with her. Regardless, I never received my $600 back, and I received no hair service whatsoever. This experience affected me far beyond losing the money. It caused me so much anxiety and distrust that I became extremely hesitant to have my hair professionally done. Since then, I have generally only felt comfortable getting a basic haircut and maybe a few highlights, and even that is rare. I may get my hair done once or twice a year because I simply don't trust people the way I used to. I am leaving this review because I don't want anyone else to have the same experience. Please be careful, especially when you're meeting a stylist for the first time, having a consultation, and being asked to pay the full amount in advance. I paid with the genuine intention of getting my hair done. Instead, I drove away with no service and, from my perspective, a $600 loss. I learned a very important lesson from this: I will never again pay the full amount for a service before the service has been completed. Please do your research, protect yourself, and don't automatically trust someone simply because they appear professional or friendly. I hope my experience helps someone else avoid going through what I went through.
