After several…read moreconversations with the owner (in person) as well as the female stylist who was scheduled to cut and blow dry my hair (over the phone), I was told they could do what I needed (cut from 3 inches past my shoulders-long to shoulder length and blow dry naturally curly hair). I arrived on time to my appointment, after driving 20 minutes from home and paying for parking only to be seated and looked over by the female stylist several times sighing and going back and forth between saying she could and could not cut my hair. She gave no particular reason, just kept touching it and looking at and repeatedly went back and forth until after ten minutes of being prodded like a zoo animal decided enough was enough. I was able to book a last minute appointment at M Salon in Eastchester and they gave me EXACTLY the shoulder length cut and style I wanted in less than an hour with only a picture and a few words for direction. Very DISAPPOINTED in Salon Shige as my 3-year old son had a great haircut experience with the owner a few months back that prompted me to try them for my own hair. I've had my hair cut and styled almost exclusively in the past ten years by Japanese salons in NYC, so I really can't figure out why this one salon found my hair difficult to work with. Looking at the pictures of the other customers, my hair is similar to many of their past customers. Oh well. My son won't be returning either.

Prices are reasonable for the quality and service and you save yourself a trip into NYC. I was honored to receive my color treatment and cut from Mr. Yasunori Watanabe, who is the President and CEO! I've been going to the same little shop in Chinatown in the city since I was a broke college kid for ten years. And comparing Hair Saloon and my little reliable shop... the phrase I would use is you get what you pay for. The quality Brianna and Danielle exposed to me to is something I would never turn my back on now that I've had a taste of it. When I walked into the salon, which shares a little building with a nail salon next door, my nervous little self was greeted with warm smiles and welcomes. I was given a little tour of the cafe/bar side, and then the section where the actual magic begins. Seeing as how they've open during the height of COVID, they're still very infection control friendly! The chairs in the cutting/stying section are more than generously six feet apart, and the chairs by the washing station are separated by clear screens. 10/10 for cleanliness because you see these other businesses and since late 2021, you know hygiene has definitely been thrown out the window. You know you're dishing out a little more $ when there's massage chairs during the hair wash. In my head I was just wow'd because Chinatown could never lol. Brianna was great during the wash. One thing I have to commend them for is the communication step-by-step. She asked me my preferences in shampoo, and I usually opt for products that offer volume, so she introduced me to R&Co, which was pretty much *the* brand that was used on me throughout my appointment. I really appreciated how she explained the different types of shampoo they used and who would benefit from what. The shampoo, the hair serum, and hair spray I'm pretty sold on because I'm that person who's always looking for the next best thing when it comes to hair and face products. Now Danielle. You are the GOAT. Thank you for showing me what it's like to be well taken care of as a client. There is something in that customer service of yours that feels so warm and it's like, of course the business would be 5 stars on here! You're like the big sister of hair, telling me what works and what doesn't. I told you this during the service, but you are absolutely absolutely absolutely the master of your craft! :) Dear future customers, the way Danielle can utilize and manipulate round brushes? Her blowouts look amazing and last for days. This most recent time she also dyed my hair and didn't get a drop on my skin. Lauren is so friendly and kind, and chatting with her makes the time fly. The whole salon is welcoming, the staff is super friendly, and they even offer cappuccinos. I always leave feeling great and looking forward to my next visit. I've been seeing Alyssa for about 6 years and I completely trust her with my hair. She always picks the perfect color for the season, and I leave looking amazing every time. She's great with reschedules, can squeeze me in last minute, and reaches out if I haven't been in a while. She never judges when I show up with more grays than I should, and her coloring and glossing always make my hair look incredible. I wouldn't see anyone else, except Lauren those couple of times!

I tend to leave with more inches of my locks cut than I initially intend going in, but it makes for healthier hair. My mom gets her hair done by one of the owners, and I know she's happy with her cuts as well. From what I've observed, the SDV team is caring and meticulous about their work and they do stellar jobs. I can only speak to the regular wash, haircut, and blowout as I don't get any special treatments done, but you won't be disappointed. Depending on who you get, just be very clear about the length you want. They're also conscientious about your street parking costs. One time my meter was about to expire, so someone immediately went out in the cold and refilled it for me. So nice. Overall, Salon de Voeu is a top-notch salon staffed with some of the most professional and talented hairdressers you'll find. Highly recommended!
