Corey is amazing at what he does, i've been here twice and have left happy with how my hair looks. With that being said, I have also left in shock of the conversations and things said by Corey each time. This is my first time ever writing a review because of how unbelievable my experiences here have been. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and beliefs, so that is not what I am shocked about. What I am shocked about is how he will blurt out such negative things in a professional setting, where i am paying him for a service. I do not want to hear someone talk about how English should be the only language taught, how my generation is stupid and getting us no where, and how trans people aren't valid among other things. Like i have said, everyone is entitled to their political belief, however you shouldn't mix that into your work life, especially if it's where you are providing a service. I don't want someone (specifically a white man) confidently saying the N-word with the hard R multiple times when talking about slavery. He found out me and my sister were hispanic and just went on a full rant about Mexico and whatnot, if i were to say anything in Spanish, he would say "it's crazy how my wife will never know how much Spanish i know" as in a way to intimidate us. He had to make it clear and known that his wife was from Mexico, to use as an excuse for everything he says. I shouldn't go somewhere and feel awkward for being hispanic or a woman. Another thing he has talked about. he believes women are better staying home and catering to children and cleaning. From all the reviews here, it is clear that mainly white women are okay with the way Corey speaks, so this is more of a warning for people of different races and ethnicities to not come here unless you want to feel uncomfortable. read more

I was looking for a new hairdresser and have tried a few. While I was okay with the results before, I was not completely happy with the end results after sleeping on it. My hair felt dry and rather flat. I asked for advice on products and didn't really get great answers. I did an internet search for a new salon and saw that they had some great reviews. They were also able to get me in right away with Melanie. She's great! She was friendly and she informed me every step of the way of what she was doing for me and made sure I received exactly what I wanted. Without my asking, she volunteered the products she thought were good for my hair. The salon itself was rather small, but the people there were like family. I have not had a perm in over ten years and never have I had one that didn't harm my hair until two days ago. This place is awesome. Everyone is very nice and helpful. Now my hair. Oh my goodness my hair looks and feels awesome. Paula is the lady who did my hair. She sat with me and we discussed what I wanted done. I felt so relaxed just talking to her. After about two minutes I told her I trusted her and do what she thought I needed. So we did a trim on my hair and a conditioning before we started the perming process. Paula walked me through the perm process every step of the way. I just moved from Memphis to Hendersonville, Tenn and have found my new hair stylist. I've known the owners and employees for practically my whole life. They are some of the nicest people I know. I got a haircut from Coey. Paula is also really nice. My hair now feels all good again! When I moved to the area I had such a hard time finding a salon that I liked. I was driving all over the place for a haircut, and I'm so glad I found Salon 114. Connie has been cutting my hair for about a year now, and I cannot say enough good things about her. She really listens to my ideas and is honest about what will (realistically) work and what won't work for me. Plus I always have fun and laugh while she's doing my hair. The whole environment of the salon is relaxed and fun, but still very professional. While Connie is the only stylist who has cut/colored my hair, I've seen great work from the other stylists as well.
