The staff were very friendly and made a fuss of me for my birthday, which was very appreciated! I had the Victoria Sponge cake, which was vegan-friendly and delicious! The servings were *very* generous! The rest of my group enjoyed their cake as well as flavoured hot chocolates. We really enjoyed the vibe here, the friendly staff and above all, the excellent food and drink. We'll be returning! :-)

The waitress came over to take our orders and helped me choose between 2 dishes that I was torn over. The drinks service was a little slow but the food was timey and the presentation on all the dishes was amazing! My Dad opted for a seafood platter, which came with smoked salmon, crayfish, cockles, mackerel and crab slaw all served with sourdough bread, hollandaise and aioli sauces - seafood heaven! My Mum went for the lamb and goats cheese burger that was divine! The lamb was cooked to perfection with it being pink in the middle and served with a yummy mint yogurt dip and sun-dried tomatoes. I was stuck between the club sandwich and BBQ pulled pork open sandwich. On recommendation I went for the pork, which was served, on sourdough toast with melted Monterey cheese - heaven! I was having food-envy looking at the lamb burger but was not in anyway disappointed with my pork. Finishing off our meal with the Parlour's specialty - ice creams all round! I have a new found love for the homemade lemon meringue cone... There is so many flavours including apple pie and the originals too - its an ice cream lovers heaven! Our leisurely lunch here was fab and they are also promoting the "Super Club" on the 18th of July that is a diner's paradise! A really well done place, with layout and set up. Sometimes tea shops along the high way have a whole room full of junk they are trying to sell to you and then cramped sitting. But not here I think I saw a few cute things for sale but mostly they were focused on their food and I was told famous ice cream! Well done for keeping the place about whats most important... the food! Friendly service and tasty treats. It was a bit slow because they were super packed and under staff. The waiter apologised for the wait and said someone had called in ill! I can only rate it on the cake and coffee because I didn't eat anything there but I imagine it would be good .

It reminded me very much of a US church's multipurpose room - something that seemed like it could be cleared at any time for another function or purpose. It seemed to lack coziness. My hot chocolate, however, was lovely, and it really hit the spot after a long day on the Wall. Though we did not eat at the tea room, I gladly would have done so (and there are few other restaurants nearby, save for a 20-minute drive to Brampton). The specials listed on a chalkboard sounded quite nice. As another reviewer mentioned, when you arrive at the tea room you order and pay at a counter on the far-side of the cafe. A waitress will bring your drinks/food to you at a table of your choosing when it is ready. The restaurant was previously open for dinner, but I see on their web site that they have reverted to daytime hours only due to unforeseeable operational issues. What a shame, as Brampton is really about a 20-minute drive and there are few other restaurants directly in the area for dinner.

The chairs were plastic foldable chairs a cushion would have been nice. Most cafes at least give dog biscuits for the canine friends. All the water bowls outside and in were empty. As for the human food that was also disappointing when the macaroni cheese that sounded so nice on the menu arrived it was cold tasteless and looked as though it had come out of a tin. If this is the best you can offer both humans and dogs I will not be back and I will be advising our friends of our visit. This is such a shame as it could be so nice.

As for the food - quite excellent - we had a delicious cream tea on arrival and a good choice of breakfast options from which we both chose the Full English. The success of this deceptively simple dish (sausage, bacon, eggs, mushrooms and tomato) is the ingredients. These were very good. We were starting out on the Hadrian's Walk trail so each ordered a packed lunch - and again The Wallsend Guest House gave a stand out performance - making us a sandwich to order and then pointing us to a wide range of fruits and snacks so we could choose what to include. For evening meal, the King's Arms Inn is very good. Thank you to the wonderful staff of the Wallsend B&B. Our only regret is that we stayed with you first, at the start our week walking the Wall, as we've compared all other B&Bs to you and none have come close.
