This is regarding Sally beauty supply in Villa Park Illinois. Today I went in to ask the girls about clip-in extensions. The girl working was rude to me and acted as if I was annoying her. The extensions were very expensive so I asked her ahead of time if I could curl them and dye them and she said yes to both. She said that this is a final sale and that I could not return them. I purchased these extensions, went home, opened up the box and in the instruction packet it says "do not color/bleach or put any chemical process on it". These extensions don't match my hair and I specifically told her that I was going to need to dye them to match my hair and she said that's fine. Why are such morons working at Sally beauty supply telling customers the wrong thing?? Was this just to make a sale?! So despicable. read more

I had an unpleasant run in with a manager named Vanessa here a little while ago where she was talking rudely about her employees. When confronted she gave me a dirty look and an attitude as I was checking out. I didn't want to leave a bad review over something so mediocre as it's not my business, but... I came to this location a few weeks back bc it was on my way and I was looking for a product that sally beauty has carried for years. I couldn't find it, so I asked one of the employees up front and he told me the brand was discontinued in all sally's location. i had a coupon from when I bought $120 worth of hair extensions. the coupons were never sent to me but they expired. The man with the long hair helped me a lot and knew I had those coupons because he helped me get them before. He mad aure I got those coupons so I called customer service and finally got at least a $5 coupon. him and the young lady working were so much help and cared a lot about me and made sure I had a great experience. I've never been a fan of Sally Beauty. The stores are small, and you can't play around with products like at Sephora or Ulta. I always thought of Sally as a more practical place for those who worked in the cosmetology industry. Until now! I could have spent all evening looking for purple shampoo. Blondes be damned, we need our purple shampoo. I've used several brands over the years, and I still am not loyal to any one brand specifically. The John Freida purple shampoo is easily the most affordable (less than $5), but I've also paid for Paul Mitchell for basically the same product. I'd recently read about the Clairol Shimmer Lights, but I didn't recognize the packaging and wasn't sure where to buy it. Ulta was out of the John Freida, and they don't carry Clairol. Target didn't carry either item. It started to feel like a lost cause, knowing I'd end up paying for the Paul Mitchell or TIGI or some other salon brands. When I walked into Sally, I first noticed how cramped the aisles were. There were maybe 3 employees in the store, all working on some kind of project stocking the shelves. They were apologetic for the mess, but wow, those aisles might have been modeled after a Southwest Airlines flight. I definitely booty bumped a customer. I finally found the Clairol Shimmer Lights ($10) tucked in the corner at the end of the hair care aisle. And they had plenty of it in stock, which means I will definitely come back here for my product instead of going on a wild goose chase for something else. I wish the store were a little bit bigger which would make it easier to just browse. And even though they had a ton of brands of haircare products, I was honestly a little surprised that they don't have more considering they're a beauty supply store. I got to Sally's often for my hair needs. I do find them more expensive then others locations. Even with the Sally's beauty card which I do recommend getting if you are a frequent hair shopper. I have had a couple bad experiences with cashiers at this location. I will still give it three stars due to the fact that their employees do usually know what they are talking about. If an employee is new I would recommend managers not leaving them to open the store. One time when I was here there was an issue and I had to wait for a manager to come into the store. For the most part this location is always clean and neat. The employees are usually nice l! I definitely go here for all my hair care needs. read more

I walked into the store at about 5 minutes to 5:00 pm and the store closes at 5:00. I knew exactly what I was going to buy so I knew that I would be in and out very quickly. The associate tells me that she is about to close. I state to her that I am aware and that it's not 5:00, yet. As I'm checking out, I tell her that I'm sure she has things to do when she gets off work but I think her comment is and would reprehensible to any customer. She begins to tell me that it's not. I let her know that I have worked at fast food, retail, grocery store etc. and that I have never and would say that to a customer. I then go on to ask her for the manager's name, which she stated as John. She becomes frustrated by what I am saying and tells me that she cannot check me out and would like for me leave because I am making her feel uncomfortable. At this point, I'm confused; not liking what I have to say is somehow threatening. I ask her, "Did I threaten you?" She tells me that what I said made her uncomfortable. I tell her that I'm not leaving and that she will continue to check me out because I did not do anything wrong. I tell her to call the police or whomever she thinks she needs to call but I'm not leaving. She checks me out and act as if she is going to escort me out the store. I tell her to please back away and that I do not need an escort. I ask her if she is playing the game of I made her feel uncomfortable because I am African American. She tells me that that's game I am playing. Not proud, but at that moment as I left I hurled profanity at her. I will definitely be speaking the manager of this location regarding regarding her behavior first thing tomorrow morning. read more

I went there to purchase some clippers and brought some osters at sale price. The cashier was very polite and made my initial experience okay. Once I made it home and open the package, it was full of gray hair and specks of blood was on the clippers. I took it back, explain to them it was used and the cashier said she had another order coming in. So she will call when they arrive & I would still receive the discount as long as it's before the end of the month. Two weeks later, no phone call. So I go back to the store only for the cashier to say she don't remember me and the store manager say that the sticky note fell, so they didn't know to call. Ok, whatever, the clippers were in.. I asked her to open the box and the manager was like we can't open the box.. I stated to her the problem with getting a used pair of clippers before and she I'd an attitude and didn't care. The cashier open the 1st box which was used with black hair all over it and the second pair was actually new. I was getting ready to cash out and the manager told me I had to pay the full price because the district manager came in the store and took down sale signs. Excuse me? I was told that the sale lasted til the end of the month and I should have got a phone call that never was placed. But now I'm getting attitude from the store manager and the cashier stated she didn't remember. What a waste of my time.. Sigh, I expected better from this Sallys.. I will be contacting corporate, I will not shop there again because they're dishonest and I hope whomever reading would take into consideration the service dealt. read more
