Getting hair products is a treat for me. I look forward to my trips to sally's. It is an event for me. It's a big deal. Last time I was there a new worker treated me horrible. She was condescending, opinionated, and down right treated me like garbage. It ruined my whole sally's magic. I feel like she took something from me that brought happiness to my life. Who can not agree good hair products doesn't bring happiness. I really need a Sally's fix but I am not spending my money in a place that makes the whole experience bad. I'm going to have to find another place to go all because of this one employee who is better than everyone and has no problem treating people as if they are beneath her. I've frequented this location about 3x/yr for about 5 yrs. This location seems to have a very high turnover rate. Regardless, I usually am pleased with the helpfulness of the staff. Even if they weren't able to answer a question, the friendliness was still there. Not the case, the first and last, of three recent visits to get educated; purchase, then return a Hair Gloss permanent color. After the initial obligatory and insincere 'welcome in', from Mike standing behind the counter, my inquiry was met with near disdain. As though I should dare to wish to purchase a product I'm not completely versed in. Let alone dare to apply it to myself!! Besides I was clearly interrupting something very fascinating on the POS System. I was almost embarrassed to ask what/where the developer worked best. I wasn't entirely comfortable with the selection I made, nor was I comfortable with the clipped answers to my 2 questions, however it was late and I figured I would come back a different day and peruse the color selection further. So I made my purchase and left. I returned 2 days later. Was heartily greeted by two young vibrant individuals behind the counter, each assisting another shopper. When one had finished, they approached and offered assistance. I'd seen this person before and noticed how helpful then. I explained that I didn't have the product (color) I wasn't thrilled with, with me, as I'd failed to plan. Could they explain the product, its optimal use and the effects on my particular hair sitch? I was t with a big, "Oh, for sure'!" Education was imparted, advice given and a 2nd purchase made. Now three days past, fully prepared I walk into Sally with the unwanted product/color. The fact that I'd just walked in, with what was an obvious return, (receipt and tiny box in hand) seemed to prickle this sane individual from my first visit. They stopped what they were doing, and quickly got behind the counter, when I was waiting for the other cashier. "Hmmph. A return. Not a question. It was a statement. An accusatory one at that! I began to explain when all at once, I was talked over and asked if the product was used. I never even attempted to open the box. And it was clear by the condition of the box that I hadn't. No need to, I'd already made up my mind and had purchased and loved the color selected the 2nd visit. I was given a dubious look and the box was grasped and pulled open. I said, "I never even tried to open the box". The response from Mike was: You could have just said that at the first." I replied, 'I told you it wasn't used.' Mike is now removing the paper instructions and cap from the tube to ensure the safety seal is still in tact. I'm not sure why you're giving me the attitude. Mike's retort, as weight was shifted from hip to hip, was, Really? I thought it was you, giving the attitude.' I said, "that's interesting." 'Isn't it? was the next retort. Followed by asking me to accept and sign. Then, as I muttered 'thank you' under my breath, Mike's parting words to me were, a swarmy "I hope you have a Beautiful Day!" At this point, I'm annoyed as well as perplexed, as to why I became Mike's target. Without turning around, I mimicked Mike's tone and cadence of speech with "You too!" All the while asking myself what and WHY, did that just happen? I was in a great mood, having just clocked off a decent day of work. The sun was shining, I had been enjoying my tunes on the short drive over with the sunroof open, then that happened? It's taken a while describe these encounters and I'm still at a loss as to what exactly it was about my appearance, or my voice, or (preparedness?) that set Mike off. All I know is, that I'll not return to the Sally @ Tanasbourne. My next 3x/year Sally Beauty visit will be many, miles out of the way to the East Side of town, where I'll look forward to being greeted and treated with a smile and friendliness. I tried the new option of having your items delivered within "2 hours" thru Sally's beauty supply. I placed the order last night at 3:53 pm. It does state on their website if the order is placed after 4 the order will be delivered the following day. I gave the benefit of the doubt the order would be delivered the following day because I placed the order at "3:53 pm" which is very close to 4 pm. It's now the following day and It's past 1:00 pm. Nothing has been delivered nor have I heard anything or received an email about my order. I called customer service. The woman who I spoke with called the store but with no hope, no one answered. I was informed that the "Driver" canceled the order yesterday after 4 pm. Not very happy. What upsets me the most is the store never contacted me thru phone or email to let me know anything. If you're considering trying the new option to have your items delivered to your home or business with their "2-hour delivery" I would suggest contacting the store itself to make sure it's going to happen. The fact that I had to call customer service the following day to see where the order is shows they aren't quite ready yet to make options for customers with their orders to be delivered within their 2-hour delivery option. It would've been nice if I received a call, text, or even email to inform me my order was canceled. That's what bothers me the most the lack of communication. No problem excepting my debit card tho. Double-check with the store before you request a 2-hour delivery or you may have an experience like mine. read more

I'm kind of pissed off. I followed the advice of these ladies and my hair turned a bizarre blue green. Dry as a husk! Came back to right the issue and was sold more products. After going to a hair salon I was told that my hair would probably have fallen out if I would have gone through with any more of their advice. AKA more bleach washes. I've been here a few times and the employees are never friendly towards customers. They don't acknowledge you when you come in or offer to help. There has been more than one occasion when I heard staff bad-mouthing the customers. I had one interaction where the employee was nice to me but spent the whole transaction complaining about other customers to me. This would be bad enough on its own but it used to still be worth it to shop there if it is the only place that carries what you need. During my last visit, I over heard 3 other customers leaving without finding what they were looking for (they asked the employee and were told they didn't have the product). I was disappointed as well. They no longer carry any Demi/semi -permanent black hair dye, which is strange because it is a pretty common hair color. I have no reason to return to this store any longer. I will just shop online for better prices and customer service. read more

After my very poor experience with Sally's, the store manager reaches out to me to discuss my concerns. She let me know that she had made changes to staffing and that she would like for me to come back in and give them another shot. After some hesitation, I did proceed to go back in. I was indeed impressed with the new staffing. Since she had taken over, Katrice (the store manager) has strived to improve her store and I can tell honestly with my last visit. My girlfriend and I were getting lashes and I was debating to get another glue. There was a line and another lady was just staring at us, so I wasn't sure if she was ready. This is literally the 2nd time I got disrespected from the workers there. I said, "Hi, are you ready?" (She was opening a second line) she goes; "Um, doesn't look like you're ready." With such a rude tone. I literally couldn't believe it. My friend and I looked at each other and was like, whoa... Really? I am calling the district manager tomorrow. She was giving us a attitude this whole time, the worker next to her apologize for her action and was incredibly sweet to us. I appreciate her, she was super nice. She told me that woman was also having a bad day, but doesn't give her the right to be disrespectful to people. I normally do not right bad reviews but I am sorry, this has to be said. Someone needs to replace that girl, otherwise sallies is going to lose a lot of great customers. Doesn't make me want to come back. I went into this store to buy some purple shampoo for my yellow hair & I grabbed the first cheap one I saw and the girls at the counter lead me to an isle that had way more to choose from and she showed me her personal favorite and ended up price matching to the one I was going to buy. I have been going to this Sally's for a couple of years now, and have never had a smooth transaction. I am a Sally's member, however every time I go into sally's my membership card is always expired, even though I have never let it lapse. So today after the 4th time my card is not working and they tell me AGAIN I have to pay the $5 I just paid a few months ago, I'm pissed. The manager did NOTHING to help me, nor did she ever even offer to to contact costumer service for me (WHICH IS HER JOB) But makes the already super upset costumer do all the BS work to figure out your own card. I am very disappointed in the manager at this location, rude, non helpful, and condescending. I'm just suprised that this is how Sally wants us to remember our experience at their store. If I was a regional manager I would do a complete overhaul on my costumer service teams and teach them WHAT COSTUMER SERVICE REALLY IS! Will I be back to Sally's most likely not, it has left a very bad taste in my mouth. So if your a sally's club member make sure your card works because if it doesn't god knows they aren't going to help you fix it, you have to do it on your own. Funny thing is on the back of member card I called the number only to be asked for my zip code to be returned to the same horrible manager I was trying to get away from. Way to go Sally's scoring major crap points with me. I will say I did have a fellow employee (whom was on lunch) come out nd try to help me, she was very sweet, but turned out to not be the manager, she deserves to be the manager because she at least cared about the costumer, unlike your entitled manager. Pretty standard items, you could probably get a better deal on Amazon, but you can actually see the items you're buying and get advice from the clerk working, which is what I did. I am a beauty disaster. I know nothing about hair/cosmetics/beauty. I went in looking for those foam rollers or an alternative (I used the foam ones when I was a little girl, so that's the only kind I'm familiar with). The girl behind the counter was very helpful and when I asked if I still needed to use a curling iron with the product (yes, I am that clueless), she looked a little shocked I asked, but then explained the process, the products and what I should do. She matched the products to my hair type and showed me some other items that I had mentioned I was interested in. The downside: -There was only one clerk working, there were four or five customers, I did have to wait for help and wait again to check out (seriously, the customer before me was telling the clerk her hair life story). -The prices are more than I would pay if I got the items on amazon, but reasonable for a storefront location. The good: -Wide variety of products -Good customer service -You can see the products in person before you buy (rather than take a gamble online). -Decent return policy: the woman in front of me had NO receipt and they still allowed her to make an even trade. This was my first time at this location and from the moment I walked in, to the moment I left, it was a warm and welcoming experience. Immediately as I walked in, I notice a worker was helping customers non stop. She finally got to me (must have seen the lost look on my face). I was in looking at hair coloring. She answered all my questions with no hesitation, making me feel she confident in her knowledge on the subject. This was my first time not buying a dying kit at Target so, first I wasn't sure what all supplies I needed; she helped with that. Then, was the question of choosing the right color and the right dye/brand. As Soon as I showed her a picture of what results I was looking to get she gave me what I needed, and on top of helping me find my supplies she reassured me the color I wanted would look good on my skin tone. I will be dying my hair tomorrow, hopefully it all turns out good. As far as customer service goes, A+ for her! The cashiers were super friendly as well ! I will also say, I was there with both my kids(4 years old and a newborn) and they were super accommodating asking if I needed help with such and such, (holding this, grabbing that, throwing my garbage away) no sour faces here, which would be understandable because of all the stuff they have out in the open for little hands to destroy, and especially because their space is so reduced too. read more

I have bought color here for years but as soon as I needed a more knowledgeable employee I found that their product knowledge is lacking. When I choose to return the product I found that not only the employees but the manager has no customer service skills. I didn't have my receipt but the salesperson who I bought it from remembered the sale but without my receipt there would be no return or exchange. I won't be returning. read more

I always have a good experience here. They always greet me and always ask if I need help. I obviously wouldn't follow their advice on a whim without doing more research because most of them aren't hairdressers and I'm not sure why people expect that from them. They will help you to the best of their ability but most likely aren't trained on how every hair type works so I don't know why the reviews are based on that. read more

I bought 3 products for a bridal trial, hesitant and unsure if they would do the trick in a pinch. The sweet beauty clerk assured me if I wasn't satisfied with said-product, I would be able to return them without hassle. Indeed, they were not what I was hoping for so the girl with the dazzling glitter shadow made helpful recommendations and didn't make me feel like I was inconveniencing her in any way when I returned the bottles later that night. That kind of customer service and patience is what keeps people coming back! I've (for the most part) had positive experiences here. read more

I will have to come back on my own time and get some nail polishes and other things. Normally, for my beauty needs, I go to Ulta or the drugstore. I went in to Sally Beauty on a Friday to pick up some new clip in extensions. I am a Platinum blonde 30 plus Model and cosmetologist. I have carried their PRO member card since it has existed.. I am Very ashy blonde, I opted for a color this time that had a bit of dark blonde called Blonde Frost in the designer strands, not the Euronext which is what I usually use. . I was going to add a few highlights to it as well that matched my color exactly. If you shop at sally you are aware that " all sales are final" on hair only because it is unsanitary to return them to stock if they have been opened. SO, I got home and opened the box and there was green spots around the the top of the hair weft just at the clips.. In my 17 years as an experienced cosmetologist, I knew right off the bat that this was MOLD.. I immediately called the store I purchased them at and spoke with the manager PAT. He said he would take care of exchanging them for me, but, I had to bring them back same day and before he left for the day which was at 5:30pm. SO I explained I was on my way and I would be there very close to that time as I was driving from 25 minutes away in traffic.. So I hurried to get there and he grabbed another set of the same extensions I had just purchased and said I must get the same brand and same color. I was fine with that until it dawned on me very quickly that these new extensions may have the same green at the top if they came in to the store in the same order/shipment. So I requested that he open the new set and look to make sure there was no MOLD, There was.. So then he said that was the last set in that color scheme and I would have to choose the same color and get the 18 inch extensions and pay an additional 30$ and then cut them. He said It was time for his shift to be over and he started huffing and puffing, slamming pens around at the desk.. Like it was my fault he works for a company that carries such Crappy product and does not stand behind it.. He went on to say that I was lucky he was even willing to do an exchange for a different set as it it is against store policy to return ANY hair extensions. Wait a minute, He did not buy them and it it is not his store, I understand the policy, As he kept repeating ALL SALES ARE FINAL MAM!!! I said what am I supposed to do here,,,? You don't have the color that I chose without mold on them..? He gave me the option of buying the 18 inch and being out $30 more dollars or taking the same color "blonde frost" from the Euronext brand, which is a completely different manufacturer. Blonde frost in the designer brand were lighter than the Euronext, which were more brown. I am platinum white blonde. He told me if I did not choose a set that he would exchange for me then he would choose one for me .. WOOW..? Really..?. I am very experienced in hair color and I am extremely bent out of shape at this moment. SO he said again MAM... I need to leave. SO You can take these Euronext "blonde Frost" which is a different brand and light brown in color. I said well if I have to choose the other brand I already have at home, just give me the platinum blonde ones and I will be out of your hair. He said absolutely not!.I asked why not and he said in order for an exchange they must be the same color. I asked again to become clear..? It is a different manufacturer. Blonde frost in one manufacturer is going to be completely different. He said that is all I can do, you are lucky I am helping you at all. Again he repeated I was lucky he was exchanging them at all. I did not bring them back because I didn't like the color, it was because they sold me a defective product.. At this point I am mad. He told me to take the blonde frost in the Euronext brand and call the customer service number to get it straightened out. UGGGG. Over all Pat tried to act like he was helping me, but all he did was cause me stress and more money. I then went to another Sally location and bought what I needed because the customer service number he gave me is open ONLY on the weekdays. So I needed these for a modeling shoot for the next day. So I called the customer service number on the following business day, Monday, and spent an hour on the phone trying to get the customer service rep to understand what the heck happened. She then had to call the store and speak with Pat about the situation. then call me back. Over all I spent hours driving, my time and money wasted. After all Pat went through to be unhelpful. The rep suggested he exchange the Euronext blonde frost for the Euronext Platinum blonde or I would be scheduling a sit down face to face meeting with the district manager.. Either way I will never make another purchase from SALLY beauty again in Portland or surrounding areas. These employees are the rudest at all the local stores here. Oh and when I went back for my final exchange, the blonde frost extensions that I brought back were back on the shelf for sale.. WOW Sally..Really? read more

I wanted to write about the horrible customer service I received at the Tanasbourne location in Beaverton, Oregon. I have been a customer there for years, which shouldn't even matter as all customers should be treated right. I have been using the same product for years too, which is Loreal Excellence HiColor H9. I wanted to mix it up this time and mix the same tone with the H7 tone of that same brand. I noticed that the H7 box did not have an intensifier in the box as the H9 one does, so I asked the associate if there should be.. Is it missing? The associate said; " No, this one does not have a intensifier, not all of them do.". Ok, great! I go home and start mixing the H9 with the H7 when I notice that there is no red to it at all and that the red could only come from an intensifier, so I start reading the instructions and sure enough it DOES come with an intensifier. I call the store and tell the manager the exact same story. The first thing he says is:" so you mixed the product first and THEN red the instructions?". What a slap in the face!!!! I mixed it without reading the instructions because your associate assured me that that's all the pack comes with. He would argue with me over and over on the phone and was upset that I was upset. Really??? He says that I need to come to the store but even after asking him if what he could possibly do for me if I come back to the store he has no answer. I tell him that I have two small children and that I don't want to be dragging them to the store if nothing will be done anyway. He still won't give me an answer, just keeps telling me to come to the store. So I come only to find out he will give me a free H7 tube, the one that did not have the intensifier. He would not give me the H9 tube that I waisted as I already mixed it with the other, nor would he give me a developer as I wasted 5 ounces of that to mix it with the product. And to top it off he would not let me use the $5 coupon that I received when I bought the bad product because my total purchase was not over $25. Really, I spent $26 total on something that should have cost me $14, not to mention that I will never return to this store. What a bad customer service experience. Tanasbourne is the worst!! Worst service, rude people. You should only go to this Sally if you can grab what you need off of the shelf and not ask any questions. But be prepared at the check out. If you do not stand directly in front of the cash register, the sales person will stand with her arms folded and tell you that you will need to stand in front of her. Seriously...that really happened. I was standing 2 feet to the right of the register and she would not ring me up until I moved over. Do these people have such a need to have a little power that they will risk customers never returning? I haven't been back. I order what I need elsewhere. Good riddens!! read more

A friend and I went into Sally's this last weekend. We got FANTASTIC customer service by Shareena. I naturally have dark hair and I wanted to go blonde. This was my second store I went too. The other I wasn't satisfied, but Shareena and her co-workers were amazing and so helpful! She gave great suggestions on what would be best to use on my hair without frying it. My hair turned out AMAZING! I love love it! Thank you, Ladies! I'll be coming back again that is for sure! read more

She *sighed* every time a customer walked in..Or said, 'no, no, no' when she thought a passerby might stop in the store. She couldn't answer any type of hair question without rolling her eyes, and trying to make you feel like an idiot. Her black with purple highlights wig she was wearing didn't bode well for the store either. What a joke. She needs a complete course in customer service. I actually felt bad for her co-worker.
