Recently took a small day trip to Salisbury to just walk around town, grab lunch, and do some shopping. Once of the shops we stopped in for the first time was Salisbury Wine Shop. We were greeted right away by the husband and wife owner who were happy to show us a round a little. Down the outer aisles were all wines, conveniently organized, while in the center were racks of beer for the beer fans. The owners had some excellent suggestions, and were able to help my wife to a wine she turned out liking a lot. That particular wine was one where the producer from Italy had been in the store recently for a tasting and was bale to tell us some about the winery which was pretty neat. They had a decent selection and had a good range of low end up to the more pricey wines. Overall, a very nice experience and decent wine shop. Will certainly keep an eye out for tastings they may have in the future to stop back in! read more

I go for the superb craft beer selection. They have beers from near and far. I am partial to sour beers and they aren't sold anywhere in Salisbury except maybe Harris Teeter...and that's a big maybe. Every time I go here the owner is extremely helpful and so nice to recommend beers I may not have thought to try. Highly recommend if looking for beer not sold at the grocery store. read more

I was sorry to see someone else had a bad experience here. I have had nothing the best! Stephanie(co-owner with her husband) has always been nothing but friendly and helpful to me. She always remembers me but usually needs a bit of reminding on what I like, which to me isn't surprising with the number of customers they usually get. One time I was in one a night that they were having a special function, she was very busy so I said I would come back the next day to get what I had wanted. THey next day I came in and she had what I was wanting waiting for me. Another time I came in, on a Friday... they were having a tasting later in the evening. The kind of wine I was looking for happened to be simular to some wines that they were tasting that evening. Stephanie opened the wines for me to taste, even though it was about a hour before the tasting started. When you ask for help, they always recommend a reasonably priced wine, they don't automatically go to the pricey stuff. I love that they will help you for as long as you need even if you are only spending $15, they still treat you like you are spending $100. I also love that they carry some items from Wild Turkey Farms, another favorite of mine! read more

Terrible, business-destroying schedule. Closed on Sundays and Mondays, and is only open from 11am-6pm all days but Friday, where they realize it may be a good idea to be open till the late night hour of 8pm. That means first/second shift working adults (you know, the main demographic who buy and drink wine) have a VERY LIMITED time window to buy from this place. The local Harris Teeter and even Food Lion have nice selections of wine and are open till 11pm every night, and even the ABC store is open till 9pm. If elderly retirees, the unemployed, and children out of school for the summer are your target demographic, then this is your wine shop! The facts are, over 60% of Monday through Friday retail business sales occur after 6pm, and roughly 80% of total weekly sales occur on Saturday and Sunday. This means that these small town shops with their severely limited hours set themselves up for destruction. If they would remain open till 10pm or so, they could easily make enough to afford a part time worker to cover the shifts. read more

I'm a beer guy more than a wine fan and this place has the best beer selection in Salisbury by far. They've got a wide range of brews and most are priced individually so you can create your own custom six pack. Of course, good beer comes at a bit of a premium, but there's nowhere nearby that stocks the range of craft brews that this place does. The also often host tastings for wine and beer, just get on their email list to get updates. As noted in one of the other reviews, you can drink on site, so some tastings are also social events. Right downtown, ample parking nearby, can't be beat if you need a good beer. read more

A wonderful selection of wines from around the world and excellent beer selection too. Take your time in here - lots to see. The owners are always available to talk to and answer questions about selections and will make suggestions if you need help pairing a wine with certain foods. Very friendly and knowledgable and will take the time to find the right bottle for you! They will also order wines by the case which means you get a discount. Exceptional wine tastings on Friday nights with knowledgable visiting wine merchants. So happy to have this unique business on Main Street in Salisbury! read more

On a recent saturday afternoon about 2 pm I entered this shop. At first I was greeted friendly and then told they had sold the wines for the tasting, but had one left I could try. If you run out of the wines why not have something else for customers? Mambo grill (fantastic place) has a relationship with this place which was why I came to buy wine for dinner. After picking out 2 bottles of wine in less than 5 minutes I was asking the lady about another when she abruptly left to go to the cash registar even though a man(not too friendly) was waiting on a customer. After not coming back to me 15 minutes later I took the hint that any questions I wanted to ask were not going to be answered. Approached to pay where after another 15 minutes I was checked out. They can't handle more than one transaction at a time. I only hope that Mambo grill established a wine policy with local wineries that are more pleasant to visit then this snob infested shop. read more
