The Farm in Salinas is a godsend! I have been taking my young kids here for a few years now, and…read moreour community is so thankful to have the Farm as a unique and beautiful setting to come together and make memories. We love the summer storytime and singing on Wednesdays with Jess, along with the cow train, feeding the goats lettuce cups and doing the u-pick flower experience in their flower field - which is beyond gorgeous! In October we love going for pumpkins and all the Fall things, and my boys love playing in their little outdoor toy tractor area (my boys are 2 and 5 years old for context). They produce the tastiest strawberries, make the yummiest sweet pies and family-size chicken pot pies, and their pizza (offered seasonally on Wednesdays) is also so good! Their farm stand offers a variety of organic produce and gifts and always has a unique hand drawn mural to enjoy. It's curated with adorable toys and books for kids, plus unique finds for adults--perfect when you're looking for a thoughtful gift. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful, and you can tell they pour their hearts into this place, which also makes our time here feel that much more enjoyable! They are a small family-run organic farm and offer a variety of things, some on select days and some only seasonally, so always check with the business before you go so you know what to expect. If you haven't been here, this is a very unique and special place

We stopped by the Carmel Valley Farmer's Market and were excited to see the produce stands. I…read morestumbled upon the Cheese Wiz and of course had to try the specialty imported cheese. The vendor was so kind in giving us a variety of cheeses to try and we were too tempted not to get anything. We picked up 1/2 lb each of the raclette and truffle gouda. The cheese is on the pricier side but loved the flavors and the truffle gouda is one of the best truffle cheese I've had! So excited to eat the raclette on a baguette and make some fancy mac & cheese with the truffle gouda. The food trucks are great as well (definitely get Big Sur Taco) and overall just such a nice stop if you're in the area on a Sunday!

It's very busy, but there's lots of parking the Safeway center has several other restaurants there that are very busy on Sunday mornings too. We went on the day after the Fourth of July and unfortunately, most of the food trucks were not there. There was about five rows of stands a mixture of local homemade arts and crafts and jewelry, lots of beautiful produce, and lots of different snack foods. There is an amazing array of cinnamon rolls with different toppings. Bagels, cookies, coffee and there was one food truck that sold empanadas, etc. They looked really good and had a large variety. The highlight for me was the cheese whiz lady. She had about 15 different cheeses and she's very generous with allowing you to sample before you buy. It is a little pricey about $15 a quarter pound but the cheeses were so unique and unusual and tasted so good. I didn't mind spending the $45 for three different pieces. I got the three-year aged Gouda, which has a very flavorful caramel burst on the tongue and a delicious nutty aftertaste. I also got the blue cheese from New Zealand and Tanzania and had a very unique sharp, but smooth flavor and was a great addition to any food that I put it on. It crumbled easily and added a musky power burst to every bite. I also got an unusual Swiss cheese called Chällerhocker which has a pale, ivory interior with small holes and a thin, brine-washed rind. Its flavor profile is nutty, sweet, and slightly tangy, with hints of brown butter and caramel. It goes from Sweet to musky and then has a delicious aftertaste.

One of my go-to stops lately while at the farmers market in downtown Monterey has been Noe's…read moreChurros. I'm quite a sucker for churros--after all, they're basically donuts in stick form and how can you go wrong with that?!?! Noe's churros are the perfect consistency--not too hard and not too soft. They've got a nice dusting of cinnamon and sugar. Personally, I'd like more cinnamon, but I put gallons of cinnamon, no joke, in my coffee and pastries, so I'm not the best judge of cinnamon to sugar ratios because I can always go for more cinnamon. The churros are one for $1.50 or four for $5. My friend I always opt for the set of four and split these ribbed delicacies. (Wow--that didn't sound right, did it?) Noe's booth also sells snow cones and homemade, Mexican-style potato chips. Yeah, it's a weird mix--I guess all your childhood guilty food pleasures under one roof? I've never had the chips, but the snow cone I had during the heat wave this past summer was mighty refreshing. It's definitely a great spot to grab a quick snack--sweet or savory--to munch on while strolling up and down farmers market. I'm not sure if Noe's Salinas address is just a kitchen or an actual store, but you can find this vendor at both the Monterey farmers market on Alvarado on Tuesday's and the Marina farmers market on Sundays.
