Very Hometown feel. The food was very well good we had just had breakfast, eggs and such but hashbrowns were cooked well browned and the coffee was great. I love eating at the Sale Barn. I especially like their breakfast food. The Denver omelet with hash browns and home made whole wheat toast. Larry Waugh is the owner and is a great baker. He even grinds his own flour - talk about fresh. He makes home made donuts "as big as your face," my niece reminds me, and the jumbo cinnamon rolls can serve four with coffee. My favorite are the donut holes! If you order ahead he will make your order out of whole wheat flour if you want. They serve breakfast until 10:00am, I think, but the donuts and cinnamon rolls are the top choice of the retired farming couples who are the morning regulars, and they are sold out by 8:30am. So, if you want donuts at 9:00am call ahead and reserve the number you'll need. When it's time for my daughter to bring treats to school for her birthday we often bring Sale Barn Donuts. Place large orders the day before. I also love their roast beef plate with real mashed potatoes and green beans, and two home-made rolls. read more

Well obviously the other review is worthless if you really want to know about the food and not that loser's life story. First off, let me say every time I'm in the area I HAVE to have a burger from the sale barn. I don't know why. They are super greasy, super good. It's obviously very fresh- I'm not saying they go out back and knock a cow out for every order- but this is the real deal- and I intensely dislike small town cafes etc for the most part. Yes it smells outside. It's a SALE BARN. But the restaurant is cleaner than many in larger towns. These are local people and if they sold horrible food they wouldn't last long. Word gets around quick. Anyway- stop in and have a burger. They are addicting. The fries are mediocre. The servings are large and I don't usually see much left over on people's plates. The rest of food I can't vouch for because I have to have a burger and no room for anything else when I'm here. read more

the sale barn is well, attached to a livestock sale barn. if a person can't tolerate the smell of nature, this might not be their place. However, they would be missing some great food. the daily special is a little pricy, but there is enough food in one serving food two people. The chicken is great, as are the homemade rolls. On our way back from the Ozarks we stopped in Lamoni to eat at the sale barn café. Two high school friends and I enjoyed every single bit of it. Delicious food, great menu, great service! Since the Sale Barn Café doesn't serve alcohol, I find the previous review a bit outlandish, to say the least. About the actual food, it is simple meat and potatoes sort of variety.
