It's always a pleasant surprise to find an espresso machine in a small town when road-tripping. Mayberry's is about 2 miles off I-35 on the town square across the street from the one of the most ugly courthouses I've ever seen. The interior is brick with high ceilings and a perfect ambiance for a small town coffee shop. As expected they had sandwiches named after the characters on Mayberry RFD; The Otis, The Barney.... I only ordered a beverage, and it was fine but I have to take a star off for not serving me the correct drink. I asked for a macchiatto -double and asked if they knew how to make it since it wasn't on heir menu board. They said yes and I reminded them 2 shots and a touch of steamed milk - she agreed. I was soon given a full 12 oz cup. I didn't complain, but if you are going to run a coffee shop, you should know your drinks, or at least listen to your customers. Since this is about the only coffee shop between Des Moines and the KC suburbs off I-35, I will return.

It's often hard to find an espresso coffee shop in a really small town but Osceola has an oasis in the middle of Iowa. Lattes are good. Atmosphere is homey with exposed brick, mismatched tables and chairs, and tin ceiling.

Great coffee shop for a small town. Small town feel where the owners know the locals names and drink orders when they walk in the door. We stopped in for a quick breakfast on our way to the train station. They have a great selection of coffee and tea. Homemade muffins and pie with a nice selection of sandwiches for lunch. They also have delicious breakfast bagel sandwiches. If you are driving on I-35 thru Osceola and craving a coffee that didn't come from a C store pull off and stop by.

    lovely place!

Stopped through here on a road trip hoping to support a local business, but once I got inside I saw that only one staff was wearing a mask.

Owner Jim Sparks is a wonderful man, and they are a strong community supporter. Their family has operated the business for more than 40 years. My apple fritter was the best I have ever enjoyed, and we decided that it was definitely worth the 45-minute ride! They also have great donuts and cookies, plenty of indoor seating, and historic Winterset photos. This is a jewel. Visit it; you'll love the entire experience.

And they only had a limited selection of those. And we went in the morning. I am sorry you can't just offer up only donuts and call yourself a bakery. You can apparently order cakes there but there were none for sale. Even the Walmart bakery has a much better selection than here. I suppose if all you looking for is a very sparse choice of donuts then this is your place. They may have had a better selection early in the morning but all they have is a very small case for goods - so how goo could the selection have been? I am not sure how this place made it in to the "100 Things to do in Iowa" book but if this is a sampling then Iowa must be a very boring place. What a horrible disappointment. Oh and if you truly want a great donut go to Hurts Donuts in West Desmoines or Ambrosia Donuts in Ankeny. Now those are some class act donuts!! Delicious!
