Some of the best olives I've ever had in my life, labeled "el secreto abuela" for a price so inexpensive I'm embarrassed to write it down. Very friendly staff as well. They are inside the market. read more

This is one of the best Italian restaurants we've had in a while. We ordered polpettone (meatballs)…read moreas appetizer then the San Tommaso pizza (highly recommend it!), Tortello Verdi (which was amazing but a relatively small plate) and Carbonara pasta (which was good but nothing to brag about) everything was great!. We also had wine, and their selection is quite extensive. They offered complimentary limoncello when they brought the check, which was a nice touch. Prices are very reasonable, and the place is beautifully decorated, we were joking that it felt like we were in Italy. One thing to note is that you're expected to order at least one dish per person, which is fair given the quality of the food. On the downside, the service leaves a lot to be desired. When we arrived there was no host, and several people were waiting around. It seemed like no one had been acknowledged until I stepped in to ask. The attitude came across as arrogant and we experienced a similar vibe from the waitstaff. It feels like the restaurant may be suffering from its own success: great food and lots of attention, but service hasn't kept up. Would I go back? Absolutely yes.
Loved it ALL! Food, service, and atmosphere were five stars. They were also so kind to drop lemon…read morecello with the check.

We stopped in to try out their famous horchata, fartons, and churro & hot chocolate…read more When you walk in, depending on the size of your party, one of the waitresses will point you to certain tables to sit at. When we went it was busy, but we were able to get a table right away. Since they are known for their horchata and fartons, it was easy to know what to order. The horchata was refreshing, not overly sweet and not heavy on the cinnamon like it is back in the US. The farton we dipped in the horchata. It was light, airy, warm and fresh. It doesn't have a ton of flavor but it's still tasty. On our second visit, we got the churros and chocolate. We only tried a couple different ones on our trip but the churros here were my favorite. Crunchy outside, soft on the inside, and the chocolate was the perfect level of sweetness for me. Overall, a great spot for a quick dessert, and would definitely eat here again if I was back in Valencia
I was going to another recommended Horchata spot and our Hotel changed my mind and insisted…read moreCatalina was the best one to visit. As I approached, it was clear this was the spot. They were busy with multiple people taking pictures of the entrance. They have two levels but only the 1st level was being used. I was seated immediately close to the entrance. I didn't see any outdoor seating. Beautifully decorated with Valencia/Spanish tiles throughout. I ordered the specialty Horchata and Bunuelos. Horchata is served cold and is dairy free (although it seems like it has Dairy) and was a bit too sweet for me but definitely one to try. Bunuelos was tasty and had more of a donut texture. They also had Churros and a few other pastries along with Hot Chocolate and Ice Cream. Service was quick and friendly. A good mix of Locals and Tourists. Definitely a must Valencia stop!

The real horchata; not the Mexican type made from rice but tiger nuts. Spelled orxata, but…read morepronounced the same. The tiger nut is a root that is soaked then blended and strained then brown sugar is added similar to making almond milk. They also sell these nuts/roots for you to make your own at home. The flavor is similar in some ways to the Mexican counterpart but without cinnamon and a bit nutty. maybe closer in flavor to cashew milk or some other nut milk. I don't know which is the original or if they are related in any way but it is delicious and not overly sweet. If you've only tried the Mexican version, I highly recommend you try's this one. It's also vegetarian and vegan. This location is just outside the Valencia Cathedral. Pics to come later.

The staff is very friendly, they speak English and are very proud of the products they offer, and they can tell you all about them. In the shop you can find wines, oils, preserves, jams, meats , rice and more! This is a great place for a nice souvenir, my favorite souvenir from this shop is the Valencian rice, very easy to travel with and it has a lovely authentic packaging. They run 2 shops, the first one opened in the Joaquin Sorolla (Ave) train station (great for last minute gifts) and the second one is a beautiful shop that houses in an old pharmacy in front of the central market.
