Okay, so here is where service takes priority and gives the restaurant a bad hit. The food is great, no doubt about that, but I wish the Salad Stop in Rockwell would beef up its customer service because they, to put it blankly, suck major balls. During my visit with two other friends, we ran into so many problems, and I resolved never to go back to that branch again. I will probably try the other branches but then again, if this is the same kind of service we can expect from every branch, then I'd rather make my own salads and wraps at home.
Anyway, just to tell you about the extent of my disgust with the Rockwell branch... It's not like they were understaffed. Actually, there seemed to be an excess of people behind the counter to the point that they were actually already running into each other all the time. We ordered our wraps, and the moment my friend took his out of the bowl (little bowls, by the way! Why not serve it in plates? Or even in a paper wrapper, just like any other wrap) it exploded like a piñata on our table. Apparently, the wrap was so soggy and laden with sauce that it just gave and spewed its contents on our table. The flour tortilla was so flimsy. My friend scooped it all up and tried to give it back to the counter for it to be wrapped up again, but nobody paid him any attention. It took him several minutes to get service. Normally, other restos would give you an entirely new one, but the one they gave back to my friend looked noticeably smaller than their typical ginormous portions - proof that they just re-wrapped what could be saved from his bowl.
I tried my other friend's wrap and it, too, was sodden and would fall apart (the olives and the feta weren't properly drained. It was dripping with juice). Then, despite the surplus manpower, the water pitchers never seemed to be replenished. We had to ask for water twice. When we were about to leave, the entire crew was arguing with a lady about the add-ons. It was four people against the customer. YOU DON'T DO THAT! I heard snippets and it seems like the customer didn't want rice in her wrap but the people behind the counter refused to substitute it for anything else.
Come on. We pay a premium for salads and wraps here. We expect better service. read more
