Literally translated, "va bene" means "okay" in Italian. However, after coming here on a date night with my girlfriend, everything that the servers put on our table was much, much better that just "okay". In fact, Va Bene has one of the best Italian food I've ever tasted in a really long time. Although the restaurant in the Fort branch (inside the Central Square mall) is quite small, the place seems to have a fast enough turnover to accommodate all eagerly waiting patrons. We ordered the Organic Arugula Salad with Parma Ham, and the Organic Eggs Tagliatelle. They started us off with some bruschetta with some olive oil, tomatoes and cheese. We asked for another serving, probably because we were hungry, and not because it was really good. When the salad was served, we were really surprised by the generous amount of parma ham that came with it. Every bit of the salad just had the perfect blend of salty and sour tastes with the crunchy texture of the leaves and the chewy texture of the parma ham. The Organic Eggs Tagliatelle got devoured just as soon as it was served. The pasta was so good that I wanted to borrow a spoon to scoop up every drop of creamy sauce that was left on the serving plate. I'm not sure why we delayed eating here for so long, but now I've found the standard for a proper Italian meal in the Fort. read more
