I came across Christina 8 months ago when she dropped off her firm's tiny magnetic recipe calendar…read moreat our doorstep. I noticed it and went outside to introduce myself. Like many realtors, she was very welcoming, but her distinct smile conveyed a sense of hopefulness, even in this bleak South Bay Area market.
We had been searching for a home since 2019, paused during the pandemic when we moved out of state, and resumed in 2022. Over the years, we worked with several realtors, staying with each for months and making multiple offers before moving on. We tried agents from Berkshire Hathaway, Redfin, Realty World, and even some listing agents directly. Our last realtor, Kevin Garvey, had an impressive track record of sales in Santa Clara and presented himself as a value broker. However, what we didn't like about them all was the lack of encouragement and positive energy. We often heard we were aiming too low, that the market was slipping past us, with an utter disregard of our individual circumstances, and that left us feeling defeated.
Christina and Joe, however, were different. They brought positive energy from the start, taking the time to understand our needs, educating us about the harsh trajectory of the market, updating us on changes in trends, respecting our reservations, and never pestering us with unnecessary requests. Most importantly, they created dedicated MLS listing portals based on our property preferences, giving us early access to both on- and off-market listings. No other realtor had done this for us, despite our repeated requests. Perhaps other agents feared we'd bypass them and go directly to the listing agent. But Christina and Joe weren't worried about that. They showed trust in us, and when it came time to sign the buyer broker agreement due to NRA requirements, they were completely respectful of our decision not to sign them as Exclusive.
Christina regularly checked in with me to see if we wanted to visit any new houses and was always available for viewings. When we finally found a house we were interested in, she provided detailed comps broken down by various factors, such as the number of bedrooms and distance from the desired property. She even brought in her contractor to walk through the house with us, offering insights beyond what the inspection report revealed.
Finally, when it came time to make an offer, we discussed and mutually agreed on a price that suited us while staying close to the seller's needs, thanks to Christina's ability to gauge the listing agent's stance. Remarkably, we closed on the very first offer we made with her, and we couldn't be happier with the entire process and outcome. Looking back, securing the house still feels like a miracle, given how smooth and textbook-like she made it seem to us.
For a buyer's agent who provides this level of service, I would gladly pay a small percentage of the sale price as a fee, which they also waived for us, by the way! Not only was Christina on top of every step of the process, but I also found her to be exceptionally kind and ethical in her dealings. I could see that she would be just as professional and ethical as a seller's agent. The fact that they have completed more than half a dozen sales in the same immediate neighborhood since the pandemic is a testament to their skill. I can confidently say that I never felt they were chasing money, while always ensuring their clients got the most out of the deal.
Thank you, Christina and Joe, for being honest, trustworthy, kind, committed, helpful, ethical, and always hopeful.
