Really good value for the lunch menu! Was visiting my kid at UGA and she wanted sushi, and I didn't want to be troubled for parking and finding a place downtown, so this was a good compromise. The interior is nice, albeit a little dark with thick large curtains. Our server was so nice! I'm not sure that I'd find it as good of a value for the dinner menu, but for the lunches coming with soup and salad, and good portions for the cost, it was great. My kid chose 3 traditional rolls off the lunch menu and they were fresh and very good. We were seated at a grill immediately. The family was already ordering so we had to look pretty quick at the menu. They were doing lunch specials on Sunday, despite their website saying there weren't any. I got the steak and scallops. Fried rice and veggies. Good flavor all around, though the scallops weren't the best. Might try for a different one next time. Good ginger and yum yum sauce. Salad and soup with the meal. Everyone was friendly though I felt a bit rushed at the table. We left the table and sat for a bit on their waiting area to chat more so they could clean. I came here for lunch with some friends, and I was surprised to see they have lunch portion hibachi!! It took some time to get seated seeing there wasn't enough people working there, but the quality of the food was still good. Although the portions are smaller than the dinner portions, it still filled me up and had the same experience regardless of the time of day. They also have sushi, and have smaller tables for it! The inside is somewhat dim, but still gives off the nice, dinner vibe for any occasion. Regardless, amazing place for hibachi for any occasion!! read more

Tucked away in a shopping center is this hidden gem. Greeted and led to Our seat by a robot, the interior makes you feel like you've been transported to restaurant in Japan. From the menus to the decor, an overall great vibe. Service was really good and the food was amazing. The Christmas roll with fried oysters was out of this world. Don't forget the sweet tea! Used to be our go to special occasion restaurant but we've been sick the past two times after eating here and the service was terribly slow.

Never again !! We have eaten here many many times over the years and never had a bad meal. Today was awful!! The volcano roll was weird and kind of chewy. We decided to go big tonight and get the lobster shrimp and fillet. Our steak and vegetables were cold, like right out of the refrigerator cold. The rice was barely warm. I didn't get shrimp on my plate and when they brought the new steak out, it was raw, they did manage to give us a 10% discount. How thoughtful ! I will never return. I just hope we don't get sick I would to add that our waitress was very apologetic and handled the situation with professionalism. For the money the food is mediocre, my steak was ordered med rare and I received med well, the scallop was the biggest disappointment, they were quarter of a inch, basically maybe two large scallops sliced to a quarter of an inch. Great food. We've really enjoyed our visits here. We've had date night here, a quick lunch, and I brought my girls here for a mommy daughter date night. The only reason I did not give five stars is I was a little turned off with their advertisements, I feel they were a little deceptive. They say $1 sushi, and it's one PIECE. We walked in just around lunch. Very nice decor inside. It was only two of us and they fired up the hibachi grill. Most hibachi restaurants require 4 or more people. We felt special. The oriental soup bowl and plates were a nice set I wished to own them and have been searching eBay for something similar. The food was delicious. The server and chef were very attentive. I will definitely come back while my daughter is attending UGA near by. (Nice place to grab lunch with her) This is probably my shortest review ever but it's not much to say other than what I have already said. I hope others enjoy it like we did. read more

We decided to go here last night 6/13/22 to celebrate our daughters 25th BDay. I'm very hesitant to eat at any restaurant in Athens for so many reasons. We ll last night just added more to my "Don't Eat In Athens" list. We all sat down and besides us was 2 other customers, i guess they were waiting to fill the Hibachi table. (*1)When we sat we were greeted and asked what we wanted to drink and RIGHT away asked what we wanted to eat. Mind you we JUST SAT DOWN. (*2)Well we rushed through he menu cuz hey it's Hibachi nothing we haven't had before at any other one. Well my son does go through the menu as he looks for different things to try, well (let call her Sue) was standing there and kept asking what he wanted we told her we ALL needed a little more time. (*3)We all finally rushed and selected our meals, well (lets call him Jim) came to the table of 8 at this time, our family of 6 and the couple already waiting. He brought his trays of food MIND you they weren't COVERED and they were STACKED on each other, rice on top of vegetables and vegetables stacked on proteins, not sanitary BTW. Well the cooking process sucked, the whole presentation was weak, but OK not there for a SHOW. Now its time to start plating stuff as he cooks, well the rice was first, ok.... Then whats seemed like 15 minutes later the proteins ok... by this time the rice is cold. Then lastly the veggies which are now pipping hot (yay) but the rest of the food are in 2 stages ice COLD and LUKE warm. As (Jim) plates the food hes spilling most of it and for the PRICE the portions was KID size. I was fine with it but son and husband who ordered chicken and steak combos received what seemed to be ONE chicken breast split between then and one steak split between them. The couples plates looked VERY HEALTHY!!!!! Lets just wrap this up and say the entire event was ( dang can't find a lower rating to give) less than a minus. They automatically added their gratuity as well so no matter how poor the service, the food was we still tipped. For a tab of $200.00 they REALLY REALLY REALLY need to step their game up. I don't mind spending the money if the SERVICE, FOOD are worth it. read more

Went here tonight for my daughter's birthday with a group of 7. I only took pictures of my food and my two children's food. The service was very friendly and fast. Three people ordered hibachi and four others got sushi. I feel like the prices were slightly high for the hibachi plates (we did not get the table service hibachi, just the food brought to table.) Our first visit to Sakura tonight. I was anxious for some good sushi and my wife a Teriyaki steak. Our waitress was prompt and took our drink order as soon as we were seated. After reviewing our options, my wife ordered the Teriyaki steak with salad and fried rice. The waitress explained that the Teriyaki steak came with mash potatoes and broccoli - mash potatoes? But she could order the salad and fried rice in addition to her meal? She suggested that my wife order the Habachi steak and she would have the cook put some Teriyaki sauce on it - that meal an $8 bump came with soup and fried rice. Next, I asked about the July sushi special - again, soup and the salad were in addition to the base charges. Again the waitress suggested I try the lobster and shrimp Habachi - I passed and ordered the steak and shrimp - another $8 bump. I did want to try their sushi - so I ordered the spicy tuna roll. Tuna rolls - the tuna was room temperature ?? Very little rice roll and not spicy. Teriyaki steak and steak and shrimp. Plenty of shrimp and steak on the plate. A few pieces of steak with grizzle included. Vegetables were a real disappointment. They were limp! They tasted like water-soaked frozen vegetables that they tried to save by doing quick steam - Yuk. We've eaten much better for $70 for a meal for 2 - don't think we will be back. read more

We really enjoyed the food. The waitress got a little confused on what we wanted in the beginning but it was a delicious meal. $70.00 with tips for three people total. Lunch is the best time to come because the dinner menu is way over priced but, lunch is what you'd expect to pay at this place. The chef was excellent and did many tricks at the hibachi grill. The waitress was very attentive and polite, even when we were a bit tired and exhausted because we're sick from the pollen. The water tasted better this time and not like sewer water. The only reason I did not give a full five star review is because after cooking the chef didn't clean the grill very well for the next guests. I hope this review helps. read more
