Fried rice has no seasoning. Salmon Teriyaki was good but has sparse sauce. The best thing was tge cooked onions sbd peppers at the bottom of the dish. Shrimp tempura also had no.seasoning. Going from a five star review to a two star review is a very disappointing thing. My family of three came for dinner and chose to sit at the sushi bar. We were seated right away and given menus. We didn't see anybody again for about 10 minutes until a server came and asked what we would like to order. We ordered a bottle of saki and some Nigiri. We ordered a tuna, salmon and eel Nigiri. When the sushi chef handed us our food, we still did not have any chopsticks or plates or dishes for soy sauce. After several minutes with nobody coming by, I went to the end of the bar and got my family our own set ups from their station. I shouldn't have to go get my own utensils and plates for my meal. Unacceptable. I've been to hundreds of sushi restaurants in my life, but I have never seen Nigiri as tiny as these were. Nothing like the ones we've had before. Absolutely pathetic for the price. I wish I had taken a picture to compare to the previous one that I've taken in the past, which were good. Afterwards, we ordered six specialty rolls and asked for some water. The sushi chef finally delivered the rolls to us, which were good, but we never got our water or saw our waitress again until the end of our visit. It wasn't busy either. When we were finally finished with the rolls, the server showed up and set the bill on the counter and only then.. asked us if we would like anything else. The check is already on the counter. I'm sorry it's too late for that... I just wanted to get out of there. It was my daughter's birthday, which I told them when I showed up. She wanted to get some dessert, but I decided not to spend any more money there since the waitress obviously wasn't interested in selling us anything else or even performing the most basic duties of her job. We got my daughter ice cream next-door at A&W. I would've ordered another bottle of saki or two if she had come by and asked. All I can really say is that I am extremely disappointed in the service that we received. It was beyond horrible. We celebrated Mother's Day with our mom at Sakura Japanese restaurant. The food was delicious and the Teppanyaki was lots of fun to experience. Our Chef Tutu was hilarious and did some things that I've never seen in any other Teppanyaki restaurant before, such as coming out to greet us with a fire on top of his hat. Prices at this restaurant for lunch are very reasonable. We were able to make reservations before, which was really helpful since my sister and I traveled from the Phoenix area. The restaurant was clean. Our mom was so tickled with the Teppanyaki experience and we're so happy that Prescott Valley has this restaurant. This will now be our go to place in Prescott Valley for special events and celebrations! read more

Been a bunch of times, always do a reservation if you want to sit at the hibachi table. Can be a bit of a wait. Overall food is always really good. The fried rice does need a little something extra for some flavor. I usually just put some soy sauce and it does the trick. Chefs are always entertaining and good experience. My daughter and wife almost always get the salmon and they both love it. I get steak and chicken and always pleasantly happy. Service has always been good for us. We keep going back. Can be a bit pricey (about $20-25 per person plus tip) but a fun experience. Family of 4 about $100-120 typically. read more

The food was very good almost satisfactory. I had the eel avocado roll which was very good, the soft shell card starter was unfortunately over cooked so a little dry. But I'd order it again. And the New York strip steak with scallops was excellent. I bbq had an Arnold Palmer that had no bottom. Lots of fun. The ambience is very clean and appropriate for a hibachi place. A new place in town and we decided to finally give it a try! Reservations are necessary if you want to sit around a hibachi table, otherwise the main dining room is open on a come first basis. We opted for the later since we were in the mood for sushi. The place is what you would imagine a Japanese restaurant to look like: dark walls, neon lighting at the sushi bar, servers dressed in black, etc. True, or is it just all the Japanese restaurants I've been to??? We were seated at a booth immediately upon arrival and our drink orders were taken about five minutes later. Our server started off very polite m, but as time progressed he seemed to be a bit in a mood. We don't know what caused it, but something about his attitude changed. We hope it wasn't us! My husband ordered the 8oz house Saki and I settled on an iced tea, because they do not carry Coke products (HUGE disappointment for me!). Both were brought out rather quickly and we placed our food order at this time. We started our meal off with the Fried Calamari, which was served with a sweet chili sauce and it was by far the best part of my meal. My husband said he didn't care for calamari, but he sure did eat half of it! It was very good. We also each ordered a Spicy California Roll, which was not spicy at all. He got the Spicy Tuna Roll and I ordered a Spicy Tuna, Avocado, & Cucumber Roll. Before the sushi came out I asked our server for some wasabi (to spice up the calamari!), but he quickly let me know that wasabi only comes with the sushi... Uh WHY??? Anyway, I don't know if it was a language barrier, or what, but I didn't push the issue and figured I could wait for my wasabi... Sushi rolls came out quickly and were served with ginger and a tad bit of wasabi. I was afraid to ask for more, but took a chance on it and our server quickly brought me a Gianni serving of it! Not kidding! I thought he was being deliberate at making a point, but then I noticed the table next to us also asked for more and received the same large amount! Sushi was okay. We prefer it when the fish is not blended into a cream texture, but next time we'll know. My husband ended up ordering a second Saki, Spicy Tuna Roll and two Yellowtail Sashimi. He really enjoyed the yellowtail. I think we both agreed that we've had better sushi in other places, but we will most likely return and try the hibachi and some other sushi options. It's chopped up not whole, it comes with salad, a bowl of rice and veggies on the side I wasn't crazy about the veggies or the rice. I have to remember not to order that next time My girlfriend ordered shrimp tempura it was very good They have a sauce for the shrimp and a sauce for the steak. It was very good but too much rice too much veggies. Friska was our waitress and she did great. We also had two drinks, one coke and one tea.$7'50 The bill came to $67.15. Last night I took my partner here for his birthday dinner and last night the poor guy was up all night threw up and had the runs(if you know what I mean) I had to get him a bucket. I dined in the sushi area. This was my first time going and I was excited because my bf lives nearby. The menu options looked good and there was a lot of variety. I ordered the spider roll, Prescott roll and noodles. The noodles came out first and the waitress gave us a large serving plate for only one of us. This was confusing because we didn't ask for an extra plate but said thank you. We ended up returning the plate after trying to eat with it because it was ridiculously large. The noodles were sub-par. The sushi rolls came out and visually they were unappealing. The spider roll had almost no crab and tasted really bland. There was nothing good about it. I only ate one piece and left the rest. The Prescott roll was also visually unappealing. It had slices of lemon on top that were too large for the roll and it had sauce on top that was confusing because I had to take the slice of lemon off in order to eat the roll so there was no purpose for the sauce. This roll had a slice of salmon on top it did look good once I took off the lemon but when I went to pick it up with the chopsticks it completely fell apart. Again once I ate, the sushi roll was not good. I ended up only eating the miso soup. Idk if I will return because there's only a few sushi spots in Prescott valley so I was bummed at this experience. I was seated very quickly, as I dined alone and there was no wait. Water and tea were served promptly, and I ordered miso soup, a volcano roll, and a shrimp tempura roll. Unfortunately, the food was extremely disappointing. The miso soup arrived in a bowl that was freezing cold to the touch, and the soup itself was barely warm--my tea was hotter than the soup. The shrimp tempura in the tempura roll tasted ice cold, as if the shrimp had been (over) cooked well ahead of time and then assembled later. The volcano roll was also poorly executed: it was mostly cream cheese in the center with what appeared to be a combination of crab and tuna on top, but overall it was messy and unappealing. When I mentioned these issues to the staff, they simply nodded and said "thank you for letting us know," but did not offer to replace the food, or remove it from the bill. I left at least three-quarters of the food untouched and did not bring it home. I won't be returning. This was especially disappointing because I truly miss having decent sushi within a reasonable distance, and I was hoping this would be a good option read more

They were busy on a weeknight- always a good sign for a great restaurant. They were also short staffed which meant that we had to wait a little bit longer for our food. But... it was worth it. The servers that we did have were still attentive and kind. The food was cooked perfectly and I love that their vegetables are not cooked so much that they're mushy! I hate mushy vegetables. Sakura cooks their veggie's perfectly. We will be back for sure! read more

This new restaurant hit it out of the park with us today! 10 of us went for lunch and we sat at one of the hibachi grills. Wow! Did we ever get a show! The hibachi chef's food preparation was delightful and highly entertaining to watch! Lots of laughs from our group with a very personable and highly skilled chef to serve us in the most unique (and at times hilarious) style! If you have been to Benihana's, you will get the same experience at Sakura for a fraction of the cost. The filet mignon was excellent, and the scallops were done to perfection. The jalapeño boat as an appetizer and the side noodles were the only things that were good. The hibachi filet was so tough, that we sent it back. Ordered the shrimp hibachi and the shrimp smelled like bleach and couldn't eat that either. The rice was not good and the veggies overcooked. We left the whole shrimp hibachi meal, paid and left.
