Buffet City feels like a mix between a tourist hotspot and a local go-to--and honestly, it works as…read moreboth. It's located in a busy plaza with Publix and other shops, so parking is easy and plentiful. The restaurant can get pretty packed, but unless you're coming in with a large group, reservations aren't really necessary. The buffet leans heavily Asian, offering sushi, a wide variety of seafood dishes, classic Chinese favorites, and a hibachi station. That said, if you're not big on seafood (like me), you'll still find some solid American options. Many Asian buffets tend to limit those choices to basics like pizza and chicken tenders, but Buffet City goes a bit further. I was pleasantly surprised to see pot roast, mashed and roasted potatoes, and even fried chicken. They also have soups, salads, and a dessert selection that's actually pretty good. Come prepared--this is definitely an "elastic waistband" kind of place because you're going to want to eat your money's worth. The restaurant is surprisingly clean and well-kept, and the food stays fresh. The hibachi station has a great selection, and the chef is quick and thorough. Service is decent. Staff come around to refill drinks and clear plates regularly--but be warned, if you're not finished, guard your plate like it's gold. Same goes for your utensils--leave them on a plate, and they're gone. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience--the food, the atmosphere, and the fun of loading up our plates with a little bit of everything. Hope you enjoy it just as much! Let me know what you think.

The ribs were not good, tasted boiled, not smoked and not broiled, rubber on a bone. The Salmon was thin overcooked filets. The coleslaw had no flavor, cabbage in milk bath. The dish of bread dressing was burnt and the hush puppies were overdone, dark brown golf balls, not GBD. The Vegetable sides appeared for the most part to be straight out of a can and tastes as such. There was a breaded corn pie that was great, I went back for seconds on that. The desert bar had a few cakes and pudding items. Drinks were not included with the buffet. The resturant is clean but very plain, a kind like a cafeteria or soup. Honestly, Golden Coral would have been better than this place, and i don't like Golden Coral!

Tonight we tried Fred's market in Lakeland. This was our first time there and let me tell you it…read morewill not be our last time there. It is a very big restaurant, could easily fit a couple of football teams. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in the restaurant. Our server Brendan was amazing. Super high energy, super friendly and super on point with refills and making sure that everything was good with us. Honestly, he really did make our dining experience a pleasure. Now onto the food. So many options. A long buffet of salad. A long buffet of hot foods and plenty of side dishes. Desserts Yum. I started off with the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn casserole, macaroni and cheese, chicken and dumpling soup and a soft sweet roll. And that was just plate number one. I'm not gonna go over every single thing I ate, but let's just say I truly think that this place is a must go to for dinner, lunch or breakfast. We enjoyed our dinner so much tonight that we are actually going back again tomorrow to do this again. The menu rotates and changes daily so there's plenty of food options and it is all you can eat. So my advice is simple. Go to this restaurant and go hungry and be ready to meet some really nice people and have a really good time.

New Chinese Buffet Family Food Adventure!!!…read more We were so excited to have a new Chinese buffet to try. We went twice. After seeing this establishments parking area packed for a couple weeks we finally stopped in to try it. Right off this place has a smaller footprint in regard to seating and food options than most Chinese buffets I have been to and that is many, over my years. Since it was our first time we gave it a shot hoping the food would be good. I will break this down into two different reviews for the 2 times we have visited this establishment. The first visit was during the dinner rush around 7:30 pm. The food was fresh and tasted good. Most dishes were what they should be, but with so little options it was like eating a similar dish every-time. Moving past the lesser options and even though it was the dinner rush. The food was actually mostly luke warm. Not all dishes, but a decent amount of them. I even got a few things after they were freshly topped off and the food was still not as hot as we would have liked it. There were 6 of us and unfortunately we all felt the same way about the food. It was good, but Luke warm. The server was friendly, but we felt very rushed as the check was brought after only a few plates with not much on them as we started by sampling little portions before we filled our plates with what we found that we liked. The place is new so it was clean and the ambience inside is nice. While we were eating I took a look at the receipt and I noticed the cost per plate was almost 20$ without a drink. Food to Value ration is poor in comparison to other buffets that charge a similar amount. We decided to give this place another chance even at the cost vs selections because the food was good and we were in the area and wanted Chinese. Our 2nd visit was a bit later than dinner rush. We arrived at about 8:30 PM, still an hour in a half before closing. We sat down and when we got up to get our food we noticed some dishes were more filled than other, but we thought maybe they were just catching up after the dinner rush. Nope we were wrong. They did not fill a single dish back up while we were there. It was more like eat what's left were not cooking more of anything and they were pretty much out of Sushi as well. We ate the food and it was definitely not as good as the first Again, the server was nice, but we felt rushed even though there were only 5-6 tables. There were also 2-3 tables of staff that were sitting down in the restaurant eating food that they were bringing from the back. I Bet it was fresher and hotter than their buffet customer options. In closing for both these reviews. I have seen a decline in how many cars are in their parking lot and I have not seen any good reviews. I think this place will only make money with people that don't want to drive to Winter Haven or Lakeland for the better larger Chinese buffets. All I can say is we won't be back, but... AS ALWAYS TRY IT FOR YOURSELF!!!

Recently opened here. Not huge but the raw and cooked seafood selections are amazing. Cold shrimp,…read moreCrab legs, Oysters, Clams, Mussels. Then about 6-7 versions of each hot related several ways, seafood boil, chicken wings, marinated chicken, beef filet strips, spare ribs, beef and broccoli, Asian string beans, cold salads, ample variety of cold desserts, Hershey's ice cream cups etc etc Only down side is if they run out of something you liked lol. I liked that they seemed to care about cleanliness ( a biggy for me if I ever go to buffets) and customer service too. The place can use a facelift inside but as long as it's clean and the food is good for the value , which it is makes it a win in my book. Ample seating but not huge so if you're a big party try to call ahead or be prepared to wait. They also offer a senior citizen discount which in these times is a huge plus!! Have been there twice and both times we were very happy. One warning good and bad what you liked the first time may not be on buffet the next time you go ( my husband wanted the honey walnut shrimp the 2nd time we went but was not on buffet). Good thing is they add some new dishes we tried and liked. Created this review because when something exceeds expectations then you want a new restaurant location to stay in business. You'll definitely get your money's worth here and the quality as buffets go was really above average to me.

Tasty. Friendly. Interesting…read more I wasn't sure what to expect when I stopped in, and while the food was good, there was just something about it that wasn't for me. I had the country fried steak with two eggs and it was good. I was taken care of by Sheila, and she was lovely. But this will probably be my only visit.

How many different diners can I try for breakfast in Florida? Ten? Twenty-five? Fifty? I'll bet I'm…read moreheading towards fifty! These fine folks are 35 miles from my casa and off the beaten track for me. I was in the area for another reason, and they were calling me. Arriving- their address is 5th Street but think Route 17. The parking lot is fine and there are some solid handicapped spots. Ambience- You enter through the outside patio. It's very nice and shaded but you're still going to be eating with cars whizzing by. That's never been an attraction for me. Inside has got a 50s vibe. Everything is spotless. You see the buffet almost immediately. There is a semi-open kitchen in that you can see part of it from some seats. The menus are laminated to the tables. The men's bathroom was spotless. Customer Service- Maybe 8 stars! Just awesome! My drink arrived within seconds of sitting down. My order was taken within seconds of when I was ready. I was checked on appropriately. My bill was on the table, and you pay the cashier when you leave. Nothing but good stuff to say. Food- Standard American menu with no big surprises. When I try a new place for breakfast, I always get an omelet. This time it was a Meatlovers with potatoes and a biscuit @ $11.99. The omelet was 4 eggs which is a little unusual. I was asked if I wanted my home fries cooked on the grill or deep-fried. That was something new! I choose deep fried. Everything was out quickly. My biscuit (not pictured) was warm and soft. My omelet was just fine. An average amount of meat and cheese and cooked nicely. It didn't seem like a four-egg omelet. Just the usual three. I could get this omelet anywhere and that's not necessarily a bad thing. OMG the deep-fried home fries! Did you see my picture? These are not from a bag but homemade. They were piping hot and just damn amazing! I never had anything like them, and they'll be in my dreams tonight. So, my breakfast with excellent service was easily a four-star experience. I can't speak to their lunch. Their average on Yelp is 4.3 which I think is justified. Give them a try!
