It looks so stylish, it instantly makes you feel like you're in good hands. As for the hair. A week before the appointment I had a consultation where they cut off a piece of my hair to test how well it will pick up the bleach. On the appointment day they said that the hair picked up the colour fine and we can proceed. They applied the bleach and waited. After a while they said that it won't be as light as expected. I said that's okay as long as my hair won't turn yellow. At that point I started to wonder what was the point of cutting a piece of my hair off in advance? Wouldn't they have tested how well it takes on the bleach? After 2h 40min of colouring my hair the result was shocking. It has a horrible brass under tone and is patchy. I can't believe I spent £203 for a brassy tone. Also the gradient is so subtle. I thought that going to a well known salon will give me a nice result. I didn't expect for the result to look like a flashback when I was 15 and bleached my own hair at home for the first time.

Nick kind of fixed it and was nice about it, but it's still a total disappointment and I was made to feel like Katie's incompetence was my fault. Not at all worth the £50 I paid - I used to pay £45 in central London where I was treated like a human being and always walked out feeling fantastic. This time I walked out wanting to put on a hat and disappear. Go somewhere else instead of this place, where you'll be made to feel like an inconvenience and pay handsomely for a crappy cut you could have gotten anywhere for a fiver.

I am happy to pay a bit more as long as I will be getting a decent cut and color. This is defiantly the case at Sassoon. The staff is well trained and experienced. I walked out with the perfect cut and color for my style of hair. They listen to what I wanted and made sure that the cut is easily managed the weeks after the cut. True low malignance cut that looks great. Many people commented how nice it looked and it suited me better than my old hairstyle. The location is very handy and right next to Monument Metro station. A couple of minus points are and why I can't give them 5 stars is that I was there almost 4.5 hours. Yes they do want to make fuss and put treatments in and make sure all is done well but I don't have that time every two months. It is very excessive. Also some of the staff is just based in Newcastle till the local staff is trained up completely. Then they leave which is a shame as they know your hair and know what you like. Then a friend told me about City Crew which turned out to be exactly the kind of place I was looking for. They offer a student haircut for around £10 which is a very fair price considering the high quality they offer. All the staff are very friendly and put a lot of time and effort into ensuring they give you exactly the cut your after. Would definitely recommend this place!
