FOR THE LOVE OF SWEET BABY JESUS, AVOID.
Trust me, I'm one of the first people to read reviews like these and shrug, assume it must have been a fussy customer or a difficult job, and ring up and book regardless. I'd emphasize that neither of the two applies here: I have the same, predictable, half-head of highlights every time I go to my usual hairdresser's, and I've always had a 'meh, that'll do' attitude to hair care. My experience at Sak's, however, was something else.
I went in a week or so back for some blonde highlights- note: not a high fashion asymmetrical bob cut, but a routine procedure. Despite expressing my concerns about over-bleaching I entered the hairdresser's with a head of hair and emerged with what can only be described as a block of straw- great for feeding farmyard animals or thatching cottage rooves, but not the sort of thing you generally want attached to your head. To make matters even worse, I have a section of hair on the right side (conveniently hidden when I wear my hair down, but glaringly obvious when I put my hair into a ponytail) where the dye was incompletely applied, producing a mottled, dalmatian-style patch of brown-blonde.Hmmm, looking more like high fashion after all, which might explain the £70+ I payed for the privilege.
I have tried smothering my hair in various brands of deep-moisturizing, nourishing conditioner to no avail- I am, evidently, going to bear the marks of my trip to Saks for much longer than I ever anticipated. If you are considering going to Saks for a colour treatment, I would whole-heartedly recommend dipping your hair in a bucket of peroxide as a more cost-effective, and likely more results-friendly, hair treatment. I took the hit so you don't have to. read more
