I'm so pleased to have found this cafe, as it's a real haven in a busy part of town, and is a big, spacious, chilled out, brilliant place for lunch or a cuppa. The cafe manager, Edna, is delightful, really friendly, and creates an atmosphere that feels a bit "mama's kitchen"; she serves up big bowls of fresh Greek salad, or bean salad, or a "Power Grain salad" with quinoa and rice. The other big deal here is the Middle Eastern mezze. It's just all so delicious, and presented in a natural, homely way.
It's basically a church hall made into a cafe, so the main space is big, comfy, quiet and calm. There is one huge sofa and low table, and lots of other seating. There's also plenty of seating outside in the garden.
My cup of tea was only £1.20 - cheaper than all the cafes nearby - and the food is amazing value: £3.50 for a large bowl of salad, or £4.95 for the mezze platter, and loads of brilliant cakes in big slices that cost only £1.20.
It's only open 10am to 3.30pm each day, though, so come here for morning coffee, lunch or tea, and make the most of Edna's cooking and service while you can! read more
