I have always been greeted with a smile and a positive attitude which is very important for a child's learning environment. I also judged the center by observing the relationship between staff and child. Every child that I encountered knew both the director and assistant director by first name and the relationship between them and each child was very present. I also know that some staff members have been working there for well over 10 years, which also shows that it is a great place to work. I never had one negative incident here. Wanting "more" for my children, we looked at various private schools in the region that had high levels of academic focus, strong community and that "something extra". After visiting several school we chose Holy Spirit for many reasons but it was the only school that really stood out as having that "something extra". First, their true commitment to growing the children academically in the most personalized manner was incredible. Allowing them to move forward and learn at their own pace and encouraging them to grow not "waiting for the others to catch up" as we saw in public school. But also, when they need help or a little extra, the teachers and staff have gone out of their way to work personally with the children to help them understand and excite them about the learning. The teachers are always available and happy to offer extra tutoring which is wonderful. The kids are nurtured in a "family" environment to care for, respect and help each other. Beyond the academics there is a community of involvement among the parents. The school events and fundraisers are great fun for the extended community, not just the school community. Annually the entire school rallies around the "school play" which is the largest and most incredibly well produced and directed school play I have ever seen. The kids are from 3rd- 8th grade and they blow the socks off many of the high school productions we've seen. For those 4 months of practice and rehearsals, those kids are a part of something wonderful that they will remember and gain skills they will use for the rest of their lives. Overall, I am very happy and rely on CAP to take care of my daughters. CAP has certainly become an extension of our family. For my older daughter, she attended CAP from 11-months old until 4 years old (50-60 hours/week, 2015-2020). In 2021, my daughter entered Kindergarten upon a "pandemic gap year" of staying at home, however, she transitioned quite easily into the larger, more structured school environment. Now in 2022, she is graduating Kindergarten with the strong ability to socialize well (loves going to school and learning with schoolmates), as well as achieving basic reading and math! Much of her success is attributed to the nurturing, social and learning environment from her early years at CAP. For my younger daughter, she attended CAP from 4-months old until 2 years old (50-60 hours/week, 2018-2020) and is planning to return to CAP soon. Unfortunately due to the pandemic and personal reasons, we had to suspend her attendance, however, she still has many fond memories of her school days at CAP. She tells me every day that she can hardly wait to return, be with her loving teachers and make new little friends. Every time we drive by the school, she still excitedly shouts, "OH THAT'S MY SCHOOL (CAP)!!!" It's been over 2 pandemic gap years!!! I am very relieved that my daughter is no longer attending. The highlight of our experience was a few of the lead teachers and teacher assistants who genuinely cared about the children. I truly appreciate their dedication. I also want to recognize Sajida, who was always welcoming and kind. Unfortunately, that level of care did not feel consistent throughout the school. In my experience, the center director Ms Set was difficult to communicate with. There were times when I felt my concerns were not taken seriously, which left me feeling unheard. My daughter also shared that she sometimes felt certain staff members were overly harsh with her. I was also concerned by incidents involving children pushing or shoving one another, and I did not always feel those situations were addressed as thoroughly as I expected. The classrooms themselves were cared for by the teachers, who I often saw wiping tables and mopping floors. However, the overall building did not appear to be maintained to the same standard. During my visits, I noticed dust buildup around the air vents and felt the facility could benefit from more thorough routine cleaning and maintenance. Given how easily illnesses spread among young children, this was disappointing. Another concern was the frequent staff turnover. It seemed like there were constantly new faces, making it difficult to feel there was consistency in my child's care. At times, some classrooms also appeared to be led by very young staff members, which made me question the level of experience available. Finally, I attended the recent graduation ceremony and personally felt the Hollywood theme was NOT the best choice for an early childhood celebration. A bit inappropriate if you ask me. Overall, this center was not the right fit for our family. For the tuition being charged, I believe there are cleaner, more modern centers with stronger communication and greater consistency. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this daycare.
