For young children, being removed from their school environment is not just a logistical change, it's a significant emotional disruption. That part did not seem to be considered in how the situation was handled. I'm sharing this so other parents are aware: If your financial situation changes, there may be limited options, and the outcome can be immediate. We have been a Chapin family for eleven years…read more My older daughter had attended Chapin since pre-k and graduated last year. She was more than ready to take on the challenges of secondary school. Her freshman year was an academic success! Throughout her years at Chapin, she has grown to be an independent, well-rounded individual. She's not afraid to email teachers about assignments, ask questions when she is uncertain about something discussed during class, or voice her opinion about anything. We owe those positive attributes to Chapin. My younger daughter has also attended Chapin since pre-k. She continues to amaze us with how much she's learned in just a short amount of time. We owe that to the excellent Chapin teachers who not only educate their students but also care about their growth and development. My husband and I are excited for my little one to experience all that Chapin has to offer in the coming years. Chapin is an extraordinary school. The decision to send our children here is one of the best decisions that my husband and I have ever made.

The fear, confusion and anger that came with our son's learning disability diagnosis 11 years ago…read morehas shifted to acceptance and pride and joy. We enrolled our son at The Hillside School in second grade. He was there for three years then re-enrolled in seventh grade to help pilot the middle school program. The strategies he was taught in reading and writing along with skills in meta-cognition and self-advocacy have successfully supported him through high school and he will graduate in June. He was recently re-evaluated by our local school district in preparation for college admission. While he will always have a learning difference, he has tested out of needing specially designed instruction and hence an IEP. The faculty and staff at The Hillside School have consistently guided us with compassion and respect. Our investment in our son's education in his elementary and middle school years has been worth the time, effort and money put forth. My gratitude for Hillside is deep and wide. We celebrate our son's strengths every day and look forward to a bright future.

The administration handles everything just beautifully. This year we had a bomb scare and our principal remained very calm and with the cooperation of everyone we were all safe. The hall ways are extremly narrow for the amount of slow moving beastly specimens that have to pass through them and at times it feels like u have to waddle like a penguin just to get through center hall. The biggest problem with this school is getting is getting to this school. The town is not made for the amount of traffic in the morning and the crossing guards don't seem to do much to improve the situation. Every day the traffic night mare called Allentown forces tons of students to be tardy. Lets say u are late by 2 minutes because of this traffic abomination you will be at least 20 minutes lye after u wait on a line at the attendance office and then walk back to class. It seems like they could improve the protocol for when u are only a few minutes late. In conclusion despite its minor issues it is a great school and I wouldn't want to go any where else.
