10/10 would recommend. Capitan Andy and his first mate, Squid, are professional, competent, and friendly. These guys are experienced sailors that make you feel comfortable, safe, and at ease. Captain Andy explained how the sailing trip was going to go and what to expect. He also was friendly and answered all the questions we had about sailing! The sailboat is study and clean but not necessarily luxurious. We went on a 2 hour trip and the waves were about 2 feet high and it was around 65 degrees and sunny. I'm glad I brought a sweater and sunglasses- it's always colder on the water than in town. Don't worry about bringing food and drinks on the 2 hour trip- it would be hard to eat with the waves. Tip: bring Dramamine and eat something small and simple beforehand. But don't worry, the guys do have bags in case you get sick read more

Despite the fact that I felt a bit seasick during the sailing trip, this was by far one of the highlights of our vacation. We opted in for the sunset cruise, which was a great decision. It was somewhat cloudy, so we didn't get the best views, but even with the clouds it was still beautiful. Our captain and his shipmate were very friendly and accommodating and we definitely felt like we were in competent hands. They provided water, sodas and chips and you are allowed to bring aboard your own alcohol or snacks as well. I would say that if you are prone to seasickness, you might feel sick, but otherwise it was a wonderful and peaceful evening. read more

A must-do if you are staying on the Michigan shore! We were in Saugatuck for our 10 year anniversary and discovered Sailing South Haven after a google search. It had the best reviews and I loved the idea of it only being 6 people (versus 25) for a sailing trip. We booked the sunset cruise and it was fantastic! The boat is stunning, it felt intimate and cozy, they allowed us to bring wine and snacks and Captain Andy was entertaining as well! He gave us tips on sailing, interesting info about Lake Michigan, fishing and more. It was definitely worth it, romantic and beautiful! read more

Not rating the experience, just service prior to, so take that into consideration. It looks as if everyone who went on a trip with them loved it as I'm sure we would have as well. We were looking to book a trip the weekend we were here and found they had good reviews. Got ahold of them looking for a time/day we could go. They didn't have anything the day of (due to not being able to staff the normal 3:30 trip) but said we could go the next morning at ten. At 8 pm we got a text saying they aren't sailing at all this weekend now due to not being able to staff any trips. Now instead of trying to find another trip to book we're just out of luck. Other issue is we have a 7 month son and his ticket was $40. I am completely fine paying for him to go but a 7 month old shouldn't cost $40 when the adult tickets were $50. Like I said we did not get to go so this is not rating the actual experience on the boat, just the experience leading up to it. Two stars because the communication was good. read more

Couldn't ask for better customer service & support. Stayed in close contact via text & phone from start to finish. We were running late because of traffic and they guided us and reassured we wouldn't miss our sail. A beautiful experience on the water too. I read a few reviews with scheduling problems but it's a quaint personal experience so that's to be expected. read more

Great small family business. Tim, the owner was great and held our spot on a sold out sunset cruise, even though we had a tough time connecting via phone pre-sail. Captain Andy and first mate Topher were not only competent crew, but friendly and entertaining. We were able to bring along some wine that we had purchased at a local Tasting room that afternoon. The boat was stocked with a corkscrew, plastic cups and a variety of snack chips. The limit of six passengers makes for a lovely and intimate trip. While I'm an intermediate sailor, it was a great introductory sailing experience for my husband. Highly recommend sailing south haven's sunset cruise. read more

What a great experience! Took my daughters (7 & 8) and parents on a cruise and we all loved it! Our party of five had plenty of room and enjoyed the sailing and the conversation. They let my Dad take a hand at the wheel, took pics for us, and entertained us all with stories. Kids and adults all had a great time. They supplied chips and drinks as well. We enjoyed the cruise, couple of things should have been more clear when we made reservations, did not know we had to find our own street parking,the town was very busy and drove around to find parking. asked Andy about the festival that was happening that weekend, he knew next to nothing, also did not promote South Haven and he was quiet for the most part unless ask a question, his second mate was entertaining. read more

Traveled with the family to South Haven this past weekend for the specific purpose of taking this sailing trip on Lake Michigan. We planned this outing as a 60th Birthday celebration for my husband and looked forward to it for weeks- What a disappointment ! No Wind = No Fun - It was so boring, the captain was actually steering the boat with his feet ! We live on an inland lake, and have a pontoon boat, if all we wanted to do was float around, we could have done that at home, for free. We paid - $ 360. to sail on Lake Michigan and we did not - SAIL - At All - As the captain said, you cant " Manufacture Wind " but we felt for this kind of money we should have been offered the option to re-schedule or received a refund because we sure didn't get what we paid for. What was supposed to be the highlight of our weekend ended up being a waste of time and money. read more

Our original cruise had to be cancelled due to high winds and large waves, but they communicated with us quickly and were able to accommodate us the next evening. We had a great time on a sunset sail with Captain Andy and first mate Toe last night. They were very welcoming and congenial and we laughed a lot and learned a bit about shipwrecks in the area. So I go to book a single night cruise for 60 bucks, guess what because I'm single I am not allowed to book unless I bring someone else, hello I'm single and I'm a paying customer. The booking page said one slot left to fill and it wouldnt let me fill it but if it was for two people and it' bpoked it.. I dont agree with this and think it's unfair and very biased and I feel harressed cause I'm single. WTF, it's not like I'm asking them to take me out there all by myself. They need to redue their Web page and their policy's. I wanted the experience is that to much to ask for ? So this gets a one star but in my book it gets zero stars and all the rotten berries I can throw on their boat, as the captain left a bad taste in my mouth. I was not asking for a free ride or anything out of rhe ordinary. Again A huge WTF.. dazed and confused and smh at this. I'm not a happy person about this !! UDATE The captain did get back to me with an offer and an opening and his aplogizes for me last night around 730 pm I responded today saying no thank you and give it to someone else. He said they are using a new booking system and trying to work the bugs out. I'll give this a two star because the captain reached out to me. read more
