I had Randy look at my boat as one of the engines was not turning and the other would die after…read moreexceeding 1200 RPMs. He assured me that all it needed was the annual maintenance, two new fuel pumps and some . I paid him $4k for the work but once he left, the boat remained with the same issues. I called and email probably a dozen times with no response. After i hired another mechanic, he found the issue to be something unrelated to what Randy suggested, and also confirmed that the fuel pumps were not replaced. Randy is a scammer. Don't hire him. Randy has zero professionalism or any real care for his customers. He will take your money and not look back.

Upon calling him many times after trying to see if he can give me a rough estimate on the repair costs for insurance, he said that I would need to drop off my boat at their property and pay for an inspection, but I was told that the $100 home visit would cover a rough estimate on engine replacement and labor. I lost my money and now it seems fishy that they keep insisting I drop off my boat at their shop. I bet many have lost their boats to these people, seems to be they place liens and such. I will file a suit with the small claims court as their business practices are criminal.

After breaking down while traveling south in the ICW we were towed into Deaton's yard. At first it…read moreseemed like the old automobile tow truck routine where the tower gets kickbacks and has a "buddy" that will repair your car, or maybe I've lived too long and have become naturally suspicious. But after my experience at Deaton I have to apologize for even thinking that. I have been in boat yards all over the world, from Cherbourg to Newport to Oahu and have never encountered a more competent, knowledgeable and friendly crew of people. I might add they were very fair in their pricing of the repair and it never seemed as if they were holding us hostage because we were broken down (as so many auto shops are wont to do, to continue the automobile analogy one step further). The diagnosis was quick, parts were over- nighted and the repair was complete within a bit more than 24 hours. A loaner was available during the repair and dockage rates while the repair was ongoing were more than reasonable.
