I have involved my boats twice. The first time was Rosebud, a 29 ft Chesapeake Bay Workboat. Had fuel issues and they responded to my call and Rosebud was towed to the yard. She was there about three weeks while she was being repaired. I was kept informed during the repair and offered options during the process. Once repaired I took her home, about a one and one half hour auto drive from Deaton's. During my trip (three hours by boat) an injector (they worked on the fuel system) developed a leak. I called, they drove to my house, fixed the problem and did not charge me. The original repairs priced out where the estimate was. The invoice was clear and very detailed. I was not charged dockage during the repair process. The yard is clean. And the mechanic who worked on my boat is now the General Manager. Would I go back? Yes. I did in a different boat.
Third Time Around is a 46 ft Jefferson. I took her there during the 2016 Winter season. Had several thousands of dollars of very complex work done which included installing hydraulic davits and a ramp system as well as significant mechanical work. Eric, the GM, is top notch, as is Gary, now the yards top mechanic. John and Karen Deaton, Owners, are hands on owners, who run a quality, detailed oriented yard. My experience this time was same as above. I know most of the yards in this part of the world and Deaton's is my choice sail or power. read more
