During the course of our time in NYC for my bachelorette, this was probably one of the highlights of the trip. It was so much fun getting to see the city from a different perspective. You don't always realize the beauty of the city standing so small in the midst of the concrete jungle, but being able to be out on the waters and looking at the expansive skyline was awe inspiring! Shout out to Captain Erin for showing us an AMAZING time and for being so hospitable. If you are able to request for a Captain, please ask for Captain Erin. She helped us get all the wonderful shots of the city and showed us gorgeous views in the time we had with her. She even helped us take some really cute photos - thank you for that! Thank you again for showing us the most magnificent views and for being our captain, Captain Erin!! So grateful for you and the experience! * Pro Tip: in order for us to not scuff the boat, we ordered silicon covers for our shoes - this helped a ton with maintaining cleanliness on our Captain's boat and also allowed us to keep our shoes on during the trip! read more

Our extended family of 12 wanted to all get together for brunch, and decided to skip the usual hum drum bagels in someone's apartment and make it a day we'd all remember. Captain Paul and his 50 foot sailboat and crew gave us a 3 hour catered brunch in the Hudson we'll never forget. They handled every detail from first phone inquiry to final docking with professionalism and friendly service, yet never intruded in the least with our family dynamics and fun. That privacy as a family to enjoy our kids on deck playing in their sailor hats, the sun and breeze of sailing the Hudson together, photos in front of The Statue of Liberty will be memories for a lifetime. And made for an awesome album of photos, too. Life's too short not to do a reunion at sea. Thanks Sail Away! read more

I "won" a trip for four people in a charity auction thinking this would be a really fun way to spend an evening, as we so often forget NYC is on the water. The organization and details were perfect. We were text'ed the morning of our trip by Captain Troy with the details we needed and they were perfect. We met at pier 25, went out around the Statue of Liberty and then meandered back after about 2 hours. We also were reminded over and over not to obsess over the weather. Which was amusing and important: you will have a good time on the boat no matter what the weather. Sailing is relaxing with or without a sweatshirt. I guess if I had one wish it would be that we could have full on sailed in the boat, but I get why it is hard to in NY Harbor: the wind comes from the South meaning an exit is beating to windward - this is not the most relaxing thing to do on a Saturday evening. Plus it means we just can go as far given the time. Next time. I am not sure anyone but me wanted to be on the boat for 5-6 hours anyway! HAHA! The boat was lovely and new, Bluetooth for your tunes and Troy as not skimpy on the pour for the drinks. The passengers before us had a wedding proposal cruise and we clapped for them as they wrapped up. Which was a great way to start the tour! We couldn't have asked for a better time. Everything was perfect, including the weather. We had a wonderful time. read more

We did the 8 ppl Sunset sailing on 12th July 2020 and it was a great experience (first time) to celebrate my husband 50th birthday with our friends together. The captain Mike is very nice bc and welcoming and funny as well and he explains safety guild very well and professional. The chef also server Micheal, he is very nice and the food presentation is great as well. The sailing experience is definitely surprised my husband and his friends and everyone is very enjoy it. However, there was a miscommunication about the passenger minimum, I booked the reservation for 7ppl and also I ordered food and beverage from their kitchen as well and I received the confirmation and credit card receipt right after, it was 3 weeks before the depart date. The day, 6 hrs before we head to the pier, I received a reminder email from the company and it shows I have booked for 8ppl and the food I ordered was all gone so I have to call the company to clarify this problem and the person told me the booking has to be 8 ppl and he didn't know why there is no food order on my booking. I was frustrated at the beginning but eventually the chef Micheal called me and help to figure out the food issue. I suggest the company need to update the web booking that shows the 8-12 ppl sailing has to be 8ppl minimum otherwise the web is showing 7 ppl option on the booking site. read more

Sail Away NY - My husband and me - Boat Charters Near Me - New York, New York

The most fabulous private boat charter in NYC. Our Son was here from LA, returning from Greece, celebrating his 30th Birthday. From beginning to end our experience with SailAwayNY was seamless. Reservations online were easy to navigate and detailed. We planned a 3 hr sail around Manhattan with Brunch. Julia. The boat, was just perfect. We were 5 people and very comfortable. Captain Troy was a sweetheart Ali g with our Chef, Larra. She prepared a wonderful brunch with fresh fruit, made to order omelettes as well as muffins ... she kept our glasses full the entire voyage. Rose All Day! We sailed towards the Verrazano Bridge, Ststue of Liberty and around Manhattan... it was simply breathtaking. Our family together. Our House Music playing, sipping rose, the water, the sun , great food .... then a surprise thunder & lightning storm! 60 mile an hour winds with torrential rain !! Captain Troy sent us below ... a few scary moments... after riding it out, we were back up top ... a little wet... but enjoyed a smooth sail back to the dock This crew was amazing! This trip was an experience that's for the memory books. We absolutely loved our time aboard the Julia! Thank you so much Troy & Larra! What a beautiful day! What a way to celebrate our Son ... we loved every single mo Our 2nd Sail was this past Sunday... beyond fabulous with Captain Colin. There were 6 of us celebrating our friends marriage . We set out on a beautiful summer evening watching the sun set and the sky darken seeing the lights of the city come on and arriving back home 9pm with city views of our gorgeous city It was truly magical. We all had the most wonderful time! SailawayNY is such a magnificent find in NYC. We are thrilled to have these experiences and look forward to another amazing sail with them in August. Our favorite the g to do in summer. Thank you Captain Colin . You are such a pleasure read more

Amazing memorable evening for Father's Day! Is a little pricey but perfect activity for a night to remember. We did the sunset cruise from 6-8pm on Purse Princess. Capt Mike and his wife Shannon were so sweet and helped us have an enjoyable time. The boat was also great. We were 6 people and it was more than enough room to wander around. The bathroom was also clean and comfortable for a boat. Capt Mike was the best!! read more

First of alll. Thank you for bringing up the fact that your creepy captain has photos of us. The fact that he still has photos on his phone is disturbing. He was taking pictures of us without our consent and made several of my guests feel uncomfortable. Your caption was so fixated on us that the boat started to drift to the shore and he didn't even notice. A lifeguard from the beach had to swim in the water to tell us that we were too close to the shore !!! And why is that ? maybe because your caption was paying to much attention to us and our bodies instead of the boat !! That's alarming that you condone that behavior especially in today's climate. I read other reviews which stated your Captains are perverted and your MANAGMENT is rude, this is obviously true. The bathroom was filthy there is no question about that. I personally didn't go in the bathroom but 2 of my guests did and once I got a chance to speak with them about the event I contacted you immediately. I scheduled an appointment to speak to both Paul and our captain John! which at the time "Paul" you had no issues with speaking poorly about John, which was shocking to me because he was still employed yet, you received a lot of complaints. Then Paul, you mentioned that you would like for John to be fired because "you're tired of his mess". I said "that wouldn't be necessary, I would just like to be compensated for my guest and I bad experience". Later that day, I had to reschedule the meeting which I immediately told you and your manger Emily. However, you both was utterly rude about it. Funny how you changed in a day. I reported your fraud company to the better business bureau and they said YOU never responded. FYI, it's still in fact an open case. It's also funny that you now want to respond because I'm telling the truth about your little company. Next time be nice to your customers and not falsely advertise! This company is a joke! And clearly needs a new customer service representative. Learn how to speak to your customers! And your fake 5 star reviews are lies. The fact that you have 2 Yelp pages is most likely to cover up the BAD Reviews you get. I read the real reviews that states the truth about this company and I suggest everyone to do the same. DO NOT BOOK with this company!!! I repeat DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY! read more

Buyer beware!! My wife bought a gift certificate for my Birthday unfortunately due to extenuating life circumstances, we weren't able to use the gift certificate in the allotted time. My wife emailed Emily to no avail we made a phone call and spoke to Capt Paul. He said to send an email to Emily which my wife already did. Now we get an email with a voucher to basically pay all the money again. Kind of saying the voucher expired. So we did some research Andrew Coumo passed a law in 2016 that protects consumers and extends gift certificates. Upon light of this information Sail away didn't respond Sail away is clearly a money hungry company that just cares about the bottom line and not the consumer. I called once again and spoke to Capt Paul. Who seemed to be bothered by my call. He was very rude and basically said there is nothing he can do " usually when vouchers expire they expire " is what he said. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR VOUCHERS OF ANY KIND THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF! This place doesn't even deserve a star. My wife sent sail away Ny about 4 emails before I called up and was kindly speaking to Capt Paul. Who at first seemed bothered that I called and also said I'm not the person to speak with. And then began to cite me company policy. Which led me to believe that he could do more. 4 emails my wife sent and she's a lot nicer than I am. So when someone takes money from you, you should be kind and cordial to them. If one person reads this review and doesn't use your business I'll be satisfied. Thank you for your unprofessional business. read more

Sail Away NY - Boat Charters Near Me - New York, New York

My Wife and I were interested in a special and memorable way to celebrate our 5 Year Anniversary. After researching romantic dinners for two in NYC, we booked with Sailaway. The booking process was smooth and effortless. While I could write a lengthy non-fiction book detailing every special moment, and there were many, I will simply say it was everything and much more than we anticipated. The setting was Chelsea Piers at Pier 59 on a stunningly sunny summer early evening, where my wife was greeted with a bouquet of red roses, and their beautiful, luxurious and well maintained 50' sloop Purse Princess picked us up. From that point, think of the Four Seasons Hotel on water with personalized concierge service, with amazing Captain Paul and Five Star Chef Andrew tending to our every need with genuine and authentic courtesy, expertise, and professionalism. Setting our phones via bluetooth to the sloop's on-board wifi helped us customize the music and set the relaxing mood. Captain Paul offered two routes, up the Hudson or down. We selected down and were treated to the most amazing and stunning views of the two skylines of NY & NJ. From Hudson Yards, to Battery Park, to Jersey City and Ellis Island and right up close to the Statue of Liberty. There are no better views of the NYC skyline. During the two hour sail we dined on Fresh Oysters, Shrimp Cocktail, Shrimp Dumplings, Yellowtail Sushi, Chilean Sea Bass and Salmon entrees, and succulent chocolate truffles and chocolate swirl cheesecake, all accompanied by a bottle of Dom Perinon. Just Chef Andrew's amazing kale salad drenched in a to die for reduction sauce was worth the visit, let alone the rest of the Michelin five star meal. To top it off, Captain Paul operated a quad copter drone to capture video footage of the special occasion. This was among the most luxurious and unique experiences we have ever experienced, and we have experienced a lot. Without exaggeration, no restaurant, no matter how highly rated, could replicate the unique environment of our Sailaway journey. It was a two hour experience that took us away to a special place that seemed like a relaxing eternity. We will cherish the memories always. We highly recommend Sailaway NY. read more

Buyer beware. Aggressive rescheduling/cancellation policy and terrible customer service. I booked a marriage proposal charter with sailawayny and the week of the charter my girlfriends grandma passed away and we needed to reschedule. Sailawayny pocketed $1000 from me and told me they would do me the "courtesy" of charging me an additional $350 to reschedule. It also rained the day of the planned trip so it would have had to be rescheduled anyway. I called 4 times each time requesting a call back, but never got one. The emails I sent took literal weeks and multiple attempts to get a reply. If you're going to propose, I would suggest any another company as once Sailawayny has your money they will ignore you and couldn't care less about your situation. Given the surprise nature of these events, their cancellation policy serves to protect them and screw you. The most expensive and frustrating mistake I've ever made. Pick another company to help you propose To the business owner Paul below: "We held your booking for months" I booked it on aug 1, it's August 29... "We offered you several chances to reschedule and you ignored our emails" I paid you $1000. You ignored MY emails and calls and this is nothing but a lie and you actually know that. "Threatened bad reviews unless we refunded the original total" I asked twice for a partial refund. Partial. which I had suggested for half a refund. Truly shameful, get your facts right. read more

dont waste your money buying photo service truly horrible - burst into tears destroys all your best memories The paid photographer has no idea what she's doing, has no basic concept of how to "capture a moment", or "the right angle", or "the correct lighting" - all the things you would expect from a paid photo service. And the go-pro we paid for, shut down about half way - why bother set it up when you don't even have enough SD cards? because we paid for photo, we didn't really ask our friends to take photos huge mistake -------------------- Cannot find how to reply on a reply, so I'll just write more review I'm dying to see even one of the beautiful 300 photos you've mentioned. dying for it, literally, in full tears and a broken heart. Because All I have are unforgivably bad ones. Honestly if I can find one good picture I would not be nearly as disappointed as I am right now. Any girl who went through such experience would be able to relate to. Talking about turning a beautiful day to a bad one. And for the record I'm the one who reminded him twice not to forget to Tip you well, because I was happy, why is that? Obviously because I haven't seen any of the photos yet, how naive. ------------ Vicious personal attack to your customer is always a great idea to get more business, not to mention the casual sexism and the stinking bigotry. Go sailor!! I'm very glad this review has invited you to expose to the world what kind of person runs this business. Think twice fellow visitors, is this really the kind of person you want around in moment of celebration? Do you even feel safe stepping into this guy's boat? Eating his food? Think deep and hard. There are plenty of other charter yachts around. Don't let your happy moments ruined like mine. ### read more

I got to experience this yacht service when I was invited to a birthday party. It was a perfect Saturday afternoon ride around NY. If you're looking for a one of a kind birthday experience - this is it. We had a party of 11 when the yacht could fit 12. There was enough space on our yacht where we didn't feel cramped. You could either sit under the canopy, go downstairs to a couple of seats, or go to the front of the boat - which is the best part because you can lay on a cushion and watch the skyline go by. Great photo opportunities! They make you take your shoes off before you go on the boat so you don't scuff it. You are allowed to bring a second pair of clean shoes/boat shoes, but honestly it was nice to walk around barefoot. I forgot I wasn't wearing shoes honestly lol. You're not doing a whole lot of walking around anyway. Captain Mike was the perfect amount of involved. He made us feel safe, but also knew when it was appropriate to throw in a joke here and there. He wasn't constantly involved in our conversations and I usually forgot he was sitting next to us. He was super chill and professional and gave us a great trip around the Hudson River. I would totally book with this company for an occasion of my own. I had such a fun, relaxing, and memorable day that I would want to do this for my friends/family! read more

I am glowing with happiness today and it's all thanks to Capt Paul and Sail Away. I purchased a 3 hour boat ride for me and my 8 friends mid-day Saturday for my birthday. It was a little bit of a pricey lavish spend on myself, but it's nice that you can have the options for a waitress, yet to bring your own food and alcohol. It made the sail obtainable. Planning was so easy. I screwed up the booking and Paul fixed it within a half hour. I had a question later, he answered with an hour. I loved his efficiency. I hate services that push you to upgrade, there was none of that here. Just simple planning! Order online, show up, and sail! He also outlines everything in advance very well, I appreciated that a lot. The boat ride was nothing short of luxurious and fabulous. We didn't even go far, but he made sure to have the boat positioned for the best pictures. The boat is clean and has a great set up to sit around, nibble a little, drink some wine, and just be happy. Service was spectacular. She was on top of our drink refills before I even noticed that I was down the glass. Maybe a little too good, because I definitely walked off a bit tipsy... Friendly and fun too. Overall, this was professional, simple, friendly and I HIGHLY recommend. I would love to find a to go again and I'll be searching for a reason. They really made my birthday special. Thank you for that. read more

Amazing boat trip for a birthday party with Captain Matt. We went as a group of 6 for a 2 hour ride to catch the sunset and then the city lights. My fiancé proposed to me last night at sunset with Sailawayny. The yacht was beautiful, I was completely taken by surprise. Captain Paul pretended that the rest of the people on the group tour were running late. This was just supposed to be a sunset tour! So at the last minute it was just us on the yacht and when we got to the Statue of Liberty he asked us if we wanted to go up front to get a picture. Our favorite song started playing, and I looked down and my now fiancé was on his knee holding my new amazing ring ! The photographer started taking pictures, then I got roses.... wow. It was perfect and beautiful. Great pictures too! Don't think twice, these guys do it right ! Thank you Paul and Vivian for making our special day perfect ! read more

Great trip. Took a 2 hour tour with Captain Matt. He was really chill and happy to tell us about the boat and anything else we could have come up with. Shortly after the trip started my group migrated from the seats in the rear to the front of the boat for incredible views of the city and Statue of Liberty. Once we moved Matt was very helpful and offered to bring us the snacks and drinks from below deck to the front of the boat. I booked this trip - the romantic dinner for two - to propose to my fiancée and it exceeded my (very high) expectations by far! The planning itself was pretty easy, since you can choose your options and food on the website which is self-explaining. When we arrived at the vessel we were received by Cpt. Paul, his daughter (who joined the cruise for the first time) and his server Stephanie. Both my fiancée and me were blown away by their professionality and natural cordiality. During the cruise we had highly entertaining conversations with Cpt. Paul who also explained a lot about the whole area while we enjoyed the food and the breathtaking view on Manhattan, New Jersey and the statue of liberty. Nonetheless he gave us room and returned to the boat´s cabin during the proposal . Overall we had an extremely intense and entertaining time with Cpt. Paul and his crew and would highly!!! recommend this trip. This is a lifetime experience you won´t forget! PS: If you choose the cruise from Manhattan, be aware that the vessel does not depart from Pier 25 anymore, but from North Cove Yacht harbour (which is like 3.000 feet south from Pier 25). read more

Capt Paul and Stephanie were friendly, responsive and kind. We brought on our own food and Stephanie plated it incredibly and was attentive to our drink requests. The boat was pretty, clean and easy to find. The sail was relaxing and a great way to see NYC. We will be back! read more

Super friendly and accommodated a last minute reservation after another company and to cancel. Captain Erin was super friendly and down to Earth. Great with our two kids! We did not have the best Weather that day and the water was tougher than I expected. Lady Liberty did not disappoint and was the highlight of the trip for sure. Would recommend. A special treat for sure. read more

BEWARE!! Horrible Customer Service with zero flexibility just because! Captain Paul was not able to increase my group by 1 person less than 1 business day after I booked. He also didn't let me cancel so I could accommodate my group on another vessel. Then, the day we were supposed to go out for the sail, it was POURING RAIN in the city and he still didn't let me cancel OR postpone. Per his email to me the night before "It is only the captions decision to cancel any charter. Again, even if the captain decides to cancel we do not offer refunds". I obviously couldn't take my top clients on a sailboat with pouring rain, so Captain Paul got to keep my $2,000... If you're looking for a sailboat in NYC, I have a much better option that is less expensive AND understanding. Don't give this guy one more dime. read more

I knew these reviews had to be too good to be true. This place will only take your reservation seriously if you sign up for an expensive private tour. We were signed up for the sunset cruise tonight for my birthday and instead of calling us to let us know they canceled they sent an email less than 7 hours prior to the tour. We checked our email right before we were leaving. When my husband called to see what the deal was they told him another couple canceled that was supposed to be on our tour so they decided to cancel ours too. They didn't offer any other options aside from telling us we could pay over $700 to still go on the cruise tonight. Serious letdown really bad customer service especially for NYC. We had a fantastic time sailing with Sailaway NY. I've lived in NYC for 14 years and this was one of the coolest things we've done and best ways to see the city. We were a group of 6 for a birthday and just had a blast. We were able to bring our own snacks and drinks as well. The whiskey pairing was super fun! I organized a 3 hour private charter (4pm-7pm) for my friend's bachelor party (4 of us), and what a way to kick off the festivities! Communication with Capt Paul was excellent during the planning phase, and the booking process was very easy on their well laid out website. The instructions on finding the marina and advice for how best to enjoy the day were very clear. I paid slightly extra to be picked up from the North Cove Marina, and everything was extremely punctual. Although the menu choices looked great, we decided to bring our own food and beverages from Eataly Downtown, and organized a server to be there on the yacht (she actually called in sick that day but Paul's girlfriend and young daughter came onboard to look after us and they did an excellent job! - thanks girls!) The weather was perfect. Unfortunately it was too windy to break out the sails, but it was still extremely relaxing and such an escape from the craziness that is NYC. Even though we weren't far from home, it really felt like we were on vacation. We cruised to Lady Liberty first, took some photos, then went up the hudson as Paul recommended that to be the calmest route for the day. I've been out on the hudson river before, but not like this! The yacht was extremely comfortable, clean and luxurious, with a seating area near the cockpit with a table for us to enjoy our well presented food and drinks, and we could also go out to the front of the yacht and sit out on the provided cushions which was awesome. We also hooked up music via bluetooth to the surround sound system which was a nice touch. Definitely make a relaxing playlist to enhance the experience before you go. We certainly did. And when the music stopped it was also great to enjoy the natural serenity. 3 hours was a great amount of time and I feel like 2 hours might have been a bit short - if you're going to splash out on a private charter you might as well have the time to enjoy it! Thanks a bunch to the captain and your crew for an amazing, premium way to spend the afternoon. The groom-to-be could not be happier - so a big success all round. Will definitely be back! read more

Wonderful time with Captain Paul despite the bad weather I booked the boat for my family who was visiting from France for my mother's 70th birthday. Unfortunately, the weather was bad as it was raining, but the boat was all set so we could still be seated outside on the deck, with plastic protections around us so we didn't get wet at all. My father is 90 but was safely helped on the boat without any problem. We were 8 adults and 1 child, and were all very comfortably seated around the table. It was lunchtime so I had ordered a few things to eat from the boat and brought salads and a birthday cake, as well as wine and champagne. 2 people were taking care of bringing the food and drinks upstairs so we didn't have to worry about service at all, which was great. We sailed for 2 hours from the North Cove Marina towards the Statue of Liberty and up to the Brooklyn Bridge, and back. Captain Paul was very knowledgeable about the area and taught us many interesting things. He also told us about all the proposals that have happened on his boat, which was a lot of fun. My family was absolutely thrilled and although we were really unlucky with the weather (sun was shining the day before and after the cruise!), we had a wonderful time. I definitely recommend using Sailaway's services. read more

In NYC, things aren't cheap and typically, it's not always worth the expense. However, this experience was worth every penny and you really do get what you pay for.
