The cheesesteak may be one of the best sandwiches in Birmingham. The goat soup was also pretty amazing itself as well!

Amazing food, definitely worth a wait. Service was great, although indoor seating is a little tight so be prepared to order togo if needed

My husband found this place after I said I was craving Egusi and Fufu. I had not heard of this place and I wanted to go right away. We stopped by for a lunch date today. The gentleman behind the counter was very friendly and was all smiles. My husband ordered the lemon pepper wings and fries. He enjoyed his meal. Of course, I ordered the Egusi and Fufu, which was very delicious. The food and service were great! I loved the music playing in the background. I will definitely be back.

if you're looking for some authentic african (kenyan) food in Birmingham make sure to check out sahani! this is my first time ever coming to the restaurant although i've tried their food truck before. this is a family owned establishment, and every time i come in the owners are so nice and the service is always 10/10. everything i cooked to order so expect to wait at least 15mins for your food. previously i've tried their lamb quesadillas, masala fries, wings, chipati bread, and samosas. this time at the restaurant tried out the nyama choma (lamb) with jollof rice, tomato salad and a beef samosa. overall i'm satisfied with my order and the food was delicious as always and the portion was great!

I'm so glad I found this place!! Just moved from LA and was craving African food and this place hit the spot. The food is cooked to order but it still came out pretty quickly and everything was so flavorful. I got the egusi with fufu, collards, and tomato salad. The chicken in the egusi was so tender and falling off the bone. Can't wait to come back and try some of their other dishes!

Stopped in here while in B'Ham for a doctors appointment. I have never tried Nigerian food but I'm glad I did! They didn't actually have my first 2 choices so I had to go with the beef stew. I was not disappointed! It was very flavorful and a little spicy. It came with greens, fried plantains and fufu. For those who don't know what fufu is, it's basically plantains that have been smashed with a mortar and pestle until it turns into a gummy substance. That was actually pretty bland but good in its own way. You dip it into the sauce of the stew and you're supposed to swallow it whole ( I chewed it) lol. I would definitely recommend that you try this place if you're ever in the Birmingham area! You won't be disappointed! OH and the fries were amazing! I had a side of those also

I came to Sahani Kitchen and had an amazing lunch! The whole fish was crispy, flavorful, and overall delicious. The sauces that come with were both incredible, and with a bit of lemon over the fish and greens it was a fantastic flavor combo. I've never had fufu before but it was so good. And the MASALA FRIES I can't wait to get back. The place is casual and friendly, and the employees are so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this for any meal, it is such a great spot!

Incredible food and atmosphere. Extremely friendly staff. I was around the block vending a market at Haven and stumbled upon this little gem. Tiny hole in the wall almost under a bridge with a food truck parked outside. I got the steak philly and a samosa. Damn delicious. Their fries and sauce are great, too.

If you're looking for some authentic African cuisine this is the place to be. They're service is impeccable and it feels like home. Everything is made fresh!! Their location is perfect, in the heart of Downtown birmingham. The food.... 10/10 recommend. I've had almost everything on the menu and I have no complaints. So flavorful and seasoned so perfectly!! I recommend everything but today I had their lamb quesadilla with fries and a samosa(street taco). And whatever you do, don't forget to ask for their signature sahani sauce. It's to die for!!!

This was First time visiting Sahani and not gonna lie the Nyama choma (Lamb) with ugali was pretty good (being that I also like my food fresh also). The meal really embodies the Kenyan cuisine of the Nyama Choma to its fullest. The lamb was seasoned to perfection, juicy and hot and the ugali being a little average was still a good addition with the vegetables and lamb and even though I (chose) to wait a little while for my meal to be cooked fresh so I could watch the LSU and AUBURN game, it was definitely worth it. I will definitely be returning for another great and tasty experience.

My son chose this location for a birthday dinner for just the two of us. We both love Indian and…read moreMediterranean foods and they offered both in addition to Ethiopian. There's a big shopping center parking lot with plenty of parking so that's not a concern. It's in more of an older shopping center in an area. That's not very well kept. Either way, we felt safe and wanted to try a new place for dinner. The Restaurant is very colorful and I love that about it. In the photos that I saw online, I didn't realize that the chairs were just covers that had all the beautiful colors but either way it's a lot for the eyes to take in. We arrived on a Friday evening close to 5 o'clock and we were the only ones there until we were just about to leave. I do believe that they have more orders that are picked up by DoorDash and delivery services. I was excited to try the stuffed grape leaves and my plan was to get the hummus with pita bread and add lamb to it for my entrée. Unfortunately, they were out of the stuffed grape leaves, and when I tried to order the hummus, they were also out of the hummus. That was unfortunate, but I went ahead and ordered the chicken Shawarma roll which came with french fries. We both liked our food, which was fresh and flavorful. The fries on my platter don't look appetizing, but they came out hot in seasoned just right! We also ordered the fried green tomatoes and place of the stuffed grape leaves that we wanted as an appetizer. They came out hot and fresh and was very delicious. Both of our meals, including one soda for my son was only like $36 which is excellent in today's economy! We both also took some of our food home so the portions are good. Overall a good experience. I'd definitely try it again. It's not one of my top choices with all that Birmingham has to offer but definitely worth coming back to.

I'll preface by saying that I come from MN where the Twin Cities as at least 20 Ethiopian…read morerestaurants. Therefore, I am beyond spoiled. I was excited to see that there was one here in Birmingham area. The first time, I ordered pick up as a 3 veggie sampler and got the shiro wot, ater wot, misir wot and added a gomen. When I got home, excited to eat it, all of the separate dishes were MIXED TOGETHER, making a soup-like consistency. With all of the mixing of the different flavors together, it was completely disgsting and inedible. Next, I went with a friend who had never tried Ethiopian to eat dine-in, thinking that hey, maybe it was an issue of getting take out. So disappointed. The food is SO SALTY that all I could taste was salt. Ethiopian food is known for robust, unique flavors and I absolutely love berebere. Couldn't taste any of those spices or flavors. Will never ever go back.
