We provided initially our ideas and then met with Yahne and a paralegal in person to discuss and further define our plan. Their questions and discussion indicated extensive experience with the potential issues that could happen and needed to be addressed in the documents. Our discussions were friendly- they were very patient with our questions. They then gave us a draft of over 100 pages of documentation, with specific areas highlighted for us to pay particular attention to, which was very helpful. After we returned our comments, we met again in a video conference to resolve all the edits, and then to identify the tasks we needed to begin the conversion of our assets to the trust. We then signed all the documents. Every interaction was always collaborative, efficient and professional.

Thus the laws of the US related to a non-US resident acting as Trustee, executor and agent needed to be satisfied. I purchased a fixed priced Deluxe Estate Plan to establish a Trust and found that they prepared more documents than listed and helped me with the documents to put assets in the Trust. In all 11 documents. My many, many questions were answered. The office has a staff member who is an organizer of the meetings in person, Zoom, phone--who is very responsive. The estate package document is a loose leaf binder with all signed documents, instructions and a flash drive with the signed documents--really excellent. It is so good to know that I have all my medical and death arrangements organized.

I would highly recommend Vaughan, Fincher and Sotelo for estate planning services…read more Earlier this Fall, my wife and I needed to urgently draft a will out ahead of a major surgery I was having. We had an incredibly short timeframe along with a limited set of experience in this area. With this headwind, we were highly concerned of a subpar outcome - but with the help of Dan Vaughn and his team, we could not have asked for a better experience and result. From the moment we were introduced through each step in the process, Dan took the time to educate us on the law and our options. Most importantly, he did so in language we could understand. He used common sense metaphors, whiteboard drawings, and casual terms to quickly break down complex concepts. He engaged us, rather than drowning us in jargon, and truly put us at ease. Without this, I am unsure how we could have made so many decisions, let alone confident ones, in short order. In the end, the sheer amount of work that Dan and his team helped us to complete in such a short timeframe is a testament to how strong they are in this area. Moreover, it was clear throughout that Dan saw my wife and I as people - not just another set of clients. He and his team cared about our family, our situation, and being a partner as we aimed to make good long term decisions for ourselves and our children. Dan and his team earned our trust on many levels. As such, we highly recommend them to anyone seeking these services.

I could never reach her by phone when needed, and emails went unanswered for weeks. We received an email from opposing counsel that we responded to on September 9th, I received the email from Lisa with the follow-up letter. She never reached out to me to let me know that the letter she sent was mishandled at the post office, came back to her, and needed to be resent I found this information out because I reached out to her to her on 10/21 to see the status of my own case. It is December and I had still not heard back from Lisa about this issue. I could send an email and she would turn around and call me for me to explain the same thing that was in the email and charge me. No follow-ups to actions that she said would be taken on my behalf were ever given. When a client hardly ever calls you or sends you emails, when they finally call you and call you four times in a row, email you three times in a row, a normal person would think that there is an emergency and reach out. Istead of reaching out to see what was wrong, she textS me to tell me to stop calling her "incessantly" because she's in court. A simple "as soon as I'm out of court I will give you a call" would possibly have cats my anxiety down and our relationship intact. At 10:30 p.m. on the West coast, I leave my house to walk my dog to find court papers from the East coast just lying on the ground. No envelope... nothing. No one ever knocked on my door. They are divorced papers giving me 21 days to respond and dated November 9th. The 21 days has been up. So what is the first thing you do even at 10:30pm...you call and email your lawyer. And then you wait till 9:00 a.m. West coast time where it's noon on the East coast to call her. But you constantly get voicemail. It's unacceptable. A divorce is already a stressful time, emotional, jarring time. The person representing you in that matter, should have compassion towards your situation and your mental health. Being ignored by your attorney who is extremely uncommunicative....makes everything just a little bit worse because you already feel alone and ignored. You shouldn't have to take that from your attorney too. Especially when you pay every bill on time, in full, and provide all the information requested. Lisa did nothing to further my case but bill me for letters that never reached the opposing attorney. I did all of my own legwork. I would not recommend her business to anyone if they want results.

The compassion, personal attention, respect and terrific communication went above and beyond what I would have expected, especially in learning about others' less-than-savory experiences with lawyers in this field. Sure, I tried online will and trust services (including my friend, S.O.'s), but I was really unsure of how "legal" those documents were. I didn't want my big ticket items (i.e. car, house, etc.) to end up in a trust that wasn't valid. Surprisingly, there aren't that many advertisements for will and trust lawyers. However, I did find Mr. Brian Bishop's website. I e-mailed his office and was shocked as to the level of detail and recommendations that they provided even before my (FREE information session - you have to register, though, so the office knows someone is showing up). That's right, it really is free for the first session. If, for some reason you decide to go with another lawyer, they don't bother you... I really liked that). Another plus was his legal assistant Liz. She was very gracious, but sharp as a knife with any issues you may have. Eventually, after scoping out some other places, I decided to go with Mr. Bishop's office. For the most part, after your initial discussion, Mr. Bishop gives you plenty of time to think about what you really want in your documents. Although he writes up your documents, expect some back and forth for you to provide comments and editing. True, it is rather pricey (compared to a software program), I really felt that I got my money's worth. I was really particular with what I wanted in my documentation and Mr. Bishop was very accommodating. If memory serves me correctly, within a month or so of my initial meeting I had both a will and trust ready to go. The only thing I really knew about lawyers was the lawyer jokes, but after working with Mr. Bishop, I really have a favourable view now. I will definitely be back if I need any of his other legal services. Tell him his youngest client ever sent you (the Asian lady who is a big fan of hello kitty).
