Gary Sage and his team are just what you're looking for if you want to have the interior or exterior ( or both) of your home or business painted.
When I decided to have the trim on my home repainted I got quotes from 6 different painters. Sage Painting was one of them.
Sage was not the least expensive ( he wasn't the most expensive either.... middle of the pack), but the owner, Gary Sage, took time to explain exactly what needed to be done and why.
He walked me through the reasons he should get the job. All the reasons sounded reasonable and sound. There were so many aspects of "just" painting the trim that I had never thought of.
It's obvious he knows his stuff and has been doing this a while.
Once Gary spoke to me, I made sure to ask others giving me quotes if they also planned to secure the eves together with screws where they had begun to sag and pull apart? They weren't. I asked the other painters how much prep they intended to do? Most responded they would pressure wash the trim the day they started. Gary not only pressure washed but then he and his assistant went around and sanded ALL the wood by hand. No one else was going to do that.
Gary pointed out that tract homes are usually painted quickly without much attention to detail. Did you know painters rarely paint the underside of trim that never shows? Well, they don't. Gary had a small mirror so he was able to show me the underside of all my trim which had never been painted. This leaves the raw wood exposed to the elements and insect infestation. When he completed my job he used that same mirror to show me he had painted the undersides!
Gary mentioned that many times the paint on the stucco on a tract home begins to fail when the soil up against the painted stucco leaches the paint right off the house under the soil line. His price included digging all around the perimeter of my house and repainting it below the soil line. Once the paint had dried completely they put the soil back where it belonged and it looked better than new.
Once he had started my job he didn't want to paint the wooden trim on the same day he washed it. He wanted to give the wood a day or two to dry. I thought that made a lot of sense.
Another day when he was painting, the Santa Ana winds began to blow. He knocked on my door and told me they were going to shut it down for the day because they didn't want dirt and sand blown into the wet paint. Once again, that made good sense.
Gary did EVERYTHING he said they were going to do and more.
He and his assistant were always on time, professional, courteous, and cleaned it all up each day.
Once the trim was painted I decided I really wanted to have the metal garage roll up door painted too. And oh yes, can you also change the color of my front door? No problem, and no price gouging.
Gary told me he only takes one job at a time. You have his full attention. He doesn't work at your place for a day then disappear for three days while he works on someone else's job. He gets your job done quickly so as to not inconvenience the home owner anymore than necessary.
Obviously I can't say enough good things about Sage Painting in Ventura. Give Gary a call. You'll be happy you selected his company. read more
