First, let me say that my entire team at 21st CENTURY Home Health Services was absolutely amazing -- Neim, Ny, Anna, Meg, and Bernard! As a unit, they came through for me like the Avengers! I had very serious spine surgery and had to learn how to walk again. I'm a very independent man. I provide for and take care of others -- that's my love language. So coming out of surgery and not being able to walk, bend, twist, stand long enough to eat, or even do basic things for myself was very, very demoralizing. Having to depend on someone to wipe my butt, not being able to shower or bathe myself, and losing so much of my independence really affected me. It killed my spirit and drained me physically, mentally, and emotionally. It was a very tough road. But this team got me together and got me through it. I especially want to take a moment to highlight Meg and Bernard because these two went above and beyond for me. There wasn't a time I needed them that they didn't come through. At one point, I didn't have the correct bed or the proper equipment I needed . My head was hanging off one end of the bed and my feet were hanging off the other. It took three and a half weeks for me to finally get the proper equipment, and during that entire time, Meg and Bernard were grinding -- making calls, leaving messages, pushing people, and doing everything they could to get me what I needed. They were dealing with third parties and outside circumstances that were completely out of their control, but that didn't stop them from putting pressure on people because they saw that I wasn't being treated the way I should have been, and they were not okay with it. They could have easily just done their jobs and left it at that, but instead, they chose to go above and beyond. Late nights. Early mornings. Constant phone calls. Especially Meg -- she was even making calls on my behalf when she had her own child's birthday going on. That meant a lot to me because she didn't have to do that, but she did. And Bernard came through for me in person.He helped me get my joy back. He helped me smile again. He helped me regain my independence and, most importantly, helped me climb out of the dark place I was in mentally and emotionally.
