I rarely leave reviews, but I had to following my experience working with Maura at Sagacious. I was facing nonrenewal by my homeowners insurance, as so many Bay Area folks / Californians have been in recent years. Stressful to say the least! Maura calmly and expertly guided me through my options, and patiently answered my questions. I felt zero pressure simply to sell me anything. She was genuinely guided by my best interests. She also knows her stuff: she was aware of what was happening with my particular insurer in my region, and the industry generally. She generously shared her time and expertise with me, providing clear, actionable steps during a fraught moment. I didn't end up needing to get a new policy through Sagacious, but she helped me anyhow...who does that? Almost nobody. Also, compared to other insurance brokers I'd found through Yelp and contacted as well? Night and day difference in terms of knowledge, responsiveness, sound advice, and all around professionalism and peace of mind it gave me. So, when I actually do need to buy a new insurance policy of any kind, I'm contacting Maura at Sagacious, and also feel comfortable recommending her to friends and family. read more

Great initial impression over the phone when I called looking for a new homeowners policy. I was promised a return call within a few days but then I was totally ghosted. No response when I attempted multiple times to get in touch after not hearing back. I get that it's a rough market and maybe she couldn't find anything for me but at least have the courtesy to let me know that. read more

Sent their president an email today and received an automated response that they are not accepting new clients. I don't know how Maura Perkin gets any stars at all. After my previous agent failed to take care of my canceled homeowner's policy, and finding that it's difficult to get coverage in California, she took all my information including photos of the house. For nearly 2 weeks of distress over this dilemma, I've left phone messages and sent emails with no response. I had told her she could take over my auto and business policies. Fortunately, on a whim, I called Safeco and within 10 minutes had my policy reinstated. By failing to do this simple (commission-less) act she lost a potential, good client. I probably wouldn't take the trouble to criticize just this but for the inexcusable failure to respond, and tell the truth that she didn't want to be bothered by me. read more

Maureen saved the day and was able to get me a homeowners policy and for a more than thousand less than some other quotes I received. I contacted every insurance company I could find on Yelp and elsewhere to find a policy at short notice, and Sagacious was one of the few that even responded, let alone provided any solutions. Maura stayed in close contact every step of the way with just the right amount of information and detail, and the whole ordeal was resolved in a matter of days. Maura Perkins is knowledgable and has your interest in mind. I don't say this lightly. She is that rare gem of a person that despite earning a commission is focused on advising you, rather than trying to sell you things you don't need. I spend 10 minutes on the phone with her and learned how to think about my insurance needs in a pragmatic and holistic way. And when I had a quote from a competitor that she couldn't beat, she didn't try any scare tactics, mud slinging, etc. She advices me on the things to check, shared her knowledge of the underwriter (they were legit), and wished me all the best. I highly recommend Maura because the truth is, as easy as it is to get a quote online nowadays, insurance is a complex financial instrument with 101 exclusions and it is SO important to get right. Excellent customer service from this insurance agency. I've used them for auto and renter's insurance, and I've recommended them to friends and family as well. They find me excellent policies with great rates for what I need, and I'm always amazed at how prompt they are at returning emails and phone calls. It feels like they're always there for me. The Walnut Creek location is easy to find and very central, too, for meeting with them face-to-face. In my experience, a lot of insurance people just want to get you signed up and then they forget about you or stop caring. But Sagacious has been there for me when I've need changes, or when I got in a car accident and needed additional support/services. They've never NOT been there for me. Love! read more
