I had major surgery so we decided to order groceries for pickup. I have watched Safeway staff in the store filling orders and they take little care. I warned my caregiver that Safeway staff don't care. They proved me right. We came home with our groceries and we were charged the wrong prices for some of our items and some of our food was not good. Both melons that were supposed to to be. $2.50 each. They charged us $5.00 each. One melon was so obviously rotten but no quality control. Second melon had a huge soft spot that your finger can go through . .We asked for a group of the tomatoes on the vine. What we. got was two tomatoes from somewhere. I'm quite disappointed with Safeway anymore. They're frequently out of stock of very normal things. This isn't the occasional inconvenience but EVERY shopping trip they're out of stock of a great many items of organic produce (both fresh and frozen) as well as regular shelf items. And no it isn't because the company making it is out of stock because I can get it at Fred Meyer and Albertson's in town or with online shopping. It cannot possibly be that hard to anticipate customer demand, especially since Fred Meyer can manage to do it. Even Albertsons, SAME COMPANY, often has what Safeway is out of stock of. I've been using the drive up and go ordering. This is yet another thing they can't figure out but Fred Meyer has nailed. Twice now I've been given my groceries, driven home, and discovered they didn't give me everything I ordered and paid for. Once, they gave my husband several bags of things that weren't ours. My husband, knowing what we buy, told the person he didn't think that was what I had ordered. She didn't listen and sure enough, it was someone else's order. It doesn't really save me time when I'm constantly having to drive back down to the store to fix their mistakes. The bags they're using smell terrible - like chemicals and old cigarettes. It's disgusting and it stinks up my car and my home. I have to throw them away and air out my car and house immediately. Their gas pumps are managed so stupidly - they block off pumps constantly that are in perfect working condition. You may ask why I'm giving two stars instead of one. Partly because the organic produce is better quality here than Fred Meyer. And partly for nostalgia. I've been coming to Wenatchee Safeway since I was a newborn and Safeway was in the old Hastings building (shout out for Brucie - she was the best!!). But the Safeway I'm seeing now is pretty well unrecognizable. Bad service. Bad inventory management. Bad hiring (you really can't find people who can manage to put together a whole order and make sure that order arrives at the customer's vehicle?!). Where else can I go? Winco doesn't have organic produce really. Fred Meyer doesn't have great quality produce. WNF is grossly overpriced with their produce and has minimal variety. We need Trader's Joe's in here. Just moved here in September and can we can never seem to get the signature select plain sparkling water 12 packs. These are NEVER stocked and it's very frustrating to say the least when trying everyday to get them. Quit advertising product you're obviously not going to stock, especially when it's YOUR own brand. This review is for the DELI. HEALTH CODE PROBLEM. The service in this deli is awful. I went on Saturday 8/6. The person was so slow it was unreal. The person in front of me in line kept apologizing. I ordered 1 pound of salami it took at least 10 minutes to just cut the meat. By the way he gave me a 1/2 pound. He was just not interested in this job. The area seemed dirtier than usual and chaotic. All said after a long wait for a pound of another meat I was out of deli purgatory. Today I opened the salami to make a sandwich and it was mixed with several other small pieces of meats from who knows how long ago. It was gross. I didn't think to take a picture until the last piece I was picking out. BE CAREFUL FOR FOOD POSINING FOR LACK OF CLEANING THE SLICER AND CROSS CONTAMINATION FOR THOSE WITH ALLERGIES. So I may be a little biased because my first job was a courtesy clerk at the Safeway in Sunnyside, WA and overall Safeway reminds me of home and comfort. But anyway, the store here in Wenatchee is very well maintained and stocked. The cashiers are friendly and the staff in the departments are usually very helpful. I know that the worker in the meat department was very patient and helpful with me answering my questions and making cooking recommendations for dinner. Love going to this location, as I can always find what I am looking for and the service is great! read more

I was checked out by a person by the name of Theo. She had dirty nails and told me to "deal with it" when I asked if they had any of my favorite coffee creamer in stock. Incredibly rude. Her mask was below her nose and she kept sniffing up her snot. Disgusting. She was slow, not courteous, and needs to learn how to do it right. I've worked in service and this is purely unacceptable. I was surprised at how clean this safeway was. I actually found an employee within a minute of looking (needed to find the bathroom), which leads to why my review is a four star, instead of five. A lot of people, like me, travel through on our way out of the state or to Chelan. That said, we usually look for something better than a gas station to make a pit stop, so please keep your bathrooms clean! Worst experience that I EVER had at a Safeway. I'm in town for work and came by around 9pm on a Friday. No self check outs, only two lanes open with long lines. I guess 3's a crowd doesn't apply to this location. The checker was SO slow and the person in front of me was doing multiple transactions for her various WIC and Food Stamp items. Usually I avoid ALL grocery stores the 1st-9th of every month for this very reason. When it was finally my turn I asked the cashier why this location doesn't follow the Safeway 3's a crowd policy and she responded with... "oh, I didn't know my line was long!" Umm are you freaking kidding me!!! I was so annoyed. Plenty of other grocery stores in this town. I will be going somewhere else next time I'm in town. read more

Usually I'm good going to this store, but today I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Evidently I'm not perky enough for them. I'm in line paying for my stuff and when the short brown haired lady ask me how I was I said I was fine but it wasn't in the correct tone it would seem. I'm a tired mom of 4 (includes twin toddlers) with stuff on my mind. They said I sounded like Igor from Winnie the pooh so they started imitating my saying I was fine. As far as this chain of grocery stores go this one seems to be a middle of the line store. The aisles are clean and stocked and the staff is helpful, but sometimes overly solicitous. The parking lot is convenient to get in and out of because the store is situated on an intersection with a traffic light. read more

This Safeway is very dirty inside. We went to order food at the deli and the counter was very dirty with food debris all over. It looked like they hadn't cleaned it all weekend. The food handlers were NOT wearing gloves. It makes your stomach turn to observe this, especially when they are handling YOUR food! They stopped selling the baked chicken pieces and only have fried. There doesn't seem to be any regard for putting out a healthier product. Even our server couldn't understand it as this person said it was a very popular item. The store is conveniently located and the parking lot was nice, plus had a gas station onsite, which was very convenient. That's about the only positive things we can say. With the right management, I would think they could fix these issues very quickly. Hopefully they pay attention to their reviews. read more

The pharmacist at this Safeway was extremely rude and disrespectful; she called her customer a liar and was trying to tell him that he had to buy the medication for his wife that died two days earlier. She had no right to yell at an elderly man that just wanted to get his medication, and when she proved herself wrong she continued to yell and call names. It takes longer to check out than getting groceries. They used to have self checkout but decided to go backwards in time and remove them so everyone is forced to wait for cashiers like Joan C, who clearly should have retired 10 years ago, check you out. All of the cashiers are terrible and slow. The lines are always long especially at the pharmacy. This is definitely a place to easily spend 2 hours...you know, if you have absolutely nothing else to do!Never fails, every time I go to this location, I leave shaking my head. The only reason anyone would disagree with this is if you're related to Joan C or you have nothing better to do than spend 2 hours at Safeway. I've been going to Safeway for prescriptions for about 3 years now, and sadly my experience has just gone downhill. The pharmacists are friendly, but the assistants are sometimes just rude. My wife and I called the night before asking for a refill on her medication, and the pharmacist said they would fill it and it would be ready the next day. So we show up to the pharmacy at 5:30 to pick it up. We had to stand in line for roughly 10 minutes while they helped 2 other people. When it was our turn, the lady at the counter just starts walking around looking for it. It took her a good 3-4 minutes to find the basket with our stuff, only to find out that the one we needed hadn't even been filled and they had to order it. There was zero communication that they had to order it, otherwise we could have made arrangements with her doctor so she could have her medications. Very displeased with the service, the lady helping us even took time to chat with her coworker while looking for our stuff, getting distracted and taking more time to find our stuff. Needless to say, we will be finding another pharmacy. read more
