This location is the one I use on a regular basis. Love their grocery pick-up option! I order my groceries on their app. I can get their weekly sale price items, available coupons and Just For U deals. I usually stick to their sales and deals. They have great sales on meats, cheeses, cereal, crackers, chips and produce. I buy the majority of my groceries at Walmart because of their every day low prices, but frequent Safeway for sale items or items Walmart is out of stock on. They have 6 drive up and go spots right in front of the store. The employees are pretty quick at bringing groceries out and loading them where you want. They now offer to bag your groceries in bags you bring from home. You also have the choice to let them bag your groceries inside the store for 8 cents/bag. The parking lot and spaces are always clean and employees are constantly retrieving shopping carts and bringing them inside. Overall recommend this location. read more

The store is pretty well arranged and things are not that bad to find though they were out of a lot since I think people were flooding in due to the heat and also the Fred Meyer strike. I get annoyed shopping at stores with my mobility issues because the aisles are small for the motorized cart and other shoppers but then stores add tons of displays in the middle of the aisles. I appreciate that Safeway does not have people further blocking by stocking everything at once like many stores do. So it was far easier to get around the store. Top notch produce also! read more

I came here to get COVID-19 immunizations for my children, and they did an excellent job of this. Off of the pharmacy is a waiting room that looks far too nice to be in a grocery store, and this is where one waits for the vaccinations. There is a separate small room in which the pharmacist actually gives the injections, which maintains privacy from the others in the waiting room. Once immunized, you're given a coupon for 10% off of any purchased in the entire store. The pharmacist was very professional and helpful, not only expertly administering the vaccine, but also in taking the time to schedule the second vaccination appointments. read more

Forgot a stick of deodorant in my car, behind a couple cases of water in my cart, and had to run out for my wallet because I forgot I put it in my center console of my car, came back, and Helena and some other cashier/bagger/supervisor lady pulled it out of my cart, and both confronted me at the register and accused me of trying to steal it. Did this in front of customers too. I was completely embarrassed so I said no, not anymore, and I left. I've worked retail for 4 years, and 2 of them were management/LP so to be accused of stealing pissed me off and quite frankly, could sue em for falsely accusing if I wanted to, but I frankly don't give a damn enough lol. Just some store employee who messed up. Big time. And they chalked it up to one of them "being new" lol. read more

I frequent this Safeway location very often since it is the closest supermarket to my house. Overall this location is good. I almost always find what I am looking for. The downside, they are often sold out of some items and the amount of items they carry are small. I feel like even though the store itself is rather large, they have a larger variety of multiple items, which means less shelf space. For example, their cake mix section is so small. Many times they are just sold out of the popular cake mix flavors. They have a small Asian section and sometimes even carry Asian produce like lemongrass. Spam is often sold out as well. The cashiers have all been really nice for the most part. I feel bad for them because they work so hard. They don't have anyone bagging groceries for them and they have a long line of people. They really need extra staff on hand to help. I've gone shopping on busy days like right before thanksgiving and they didn't have extra staff for the crowd. They have taken a few covid precautions such as: 1. Staff at the entrance (not sure what they're doing because majority of the time they're just lounging over a cart of cleaning products) 2. Wipes for carts 3. Hand sanitizer at the checkout 4. Masks required by staff and patrons 5. One way aisles with floor markers (people don't even follow the signs which can get irritating) 6. The sushi chef here is off the charts doing an excellent job. I love the Safeway. It's always clean and it seems like the prepared foods are very popular. I just had an amazing sushi roll and nigiri plate. It was very fresh and clean fish. I couldn't imagine getting this at a Safeway, but here it is. Best kept secret in Vancouver! read more

This Safeway receives, and gives customers COUNTERFEIT bills.. when I talked to the cashier and the manager on floors which I won't say any names as much as I want to post this problem. They didn't want to do anything about it. They did admit to their fault. Really embarrassing to have to tell these people to shape up and check the money before putting it in the tills or handing it to customers. This is a huge concern, I would rather tell customers who read this to always check your cash even when handed from a cashier. I used to go here all the time for my weekly groceries but one night we were getting ice cream, we got it at self checkout, right when they were closing one of the doors (we went at night) so we walked out behind the registers with ice cream in our hands and our receipt (since bags aren't free) and one of the employees made a snarky comment about us shoplifting. I went here multiple times per week, I've seen this employee so many times.. I'm sure they knew my face too, I'm not someone who even looks like they would shoplift. I found that experience so humiliating... I've never been back and I'll avoid this store forever because of that. read more

Very low energy here. The most of the employees are not customer friendly. I've lived in the neighborhood for 13 years and there's really nothing that stands out from this store besides the convenience. I go there several mornings during the week getting a couple of items. I usually go around 8 am. Around that time they seem to be doing restocking. I walk pass several employees and not one of them greet you, offer help, smile, wave and all the above. Even the lady at the self check out stood right next to me and didn't say a word. There's a employee name Eric there. He is the best thing happening there. Everything time I see him he goes out his way to speak to me and help me in anyway. Thank God for him. Placed an order last night for pickup at 5 today. Drove to the store at 5, sat there for 15 minutes and figured they were a little busy. Called customer service, got no answer. Stepped inside to talk to customer service but no one was helping. Left because I was now running late for school. At 7:30 I got a notification of my phone saying my order was ready for pickup. At the end of class I get a call but I don't answer because I'm in class, get a voicemail from Safeway saying my order was ready for pickup and she would be there until 9:45. I got out of class just before 8:30, I call Safeway customer service but once again get no answer. I drove to Safeway, arrived around 9, called customer service... no answer. Go inside and ask a few of the employees if the gal that left me a voicemail was around and I was there to pick up an order. Explained the voicemail, they sent me to the manager. I don't know what his name is and I regret not getting it. I explained everything to him he was extremely rude to me. I tried to show him the voicemail and he said he doesn't care, the pick up order workers were gone. He didn't try to help or resolve anything with me and was rude like I was doing something wrong?! I do not understand why this had to be so difficult. I have already told my wife I will never shop at safeway again because last time I shopped there everything was fine until I got home. I wish I didn't have to write this about a place I have been talking up to friends and colleagues. I am an on site multifamily property manager for an apartment community right between this Safeway and the Safeway on Mill Plain and Andresen. Basically this is the Safeway closest to our property and all of my residents. Our neighborhood Safeway. I planned a Resident Appreciation Continental Breakfast for February 1st. My Assistant recommended Costco. Winco, some bakeries, and a few other places were discussed, but I love the bakery and $5 Friday so much at this particular Safeway that I persuaded everyone to go with Safeway. The check request for $100 (not much, but you can get a lot on $5 Friday), was submitted and the check was computer generated from our Corporate account on 1/14/2020. my assistant and I went to Safeway at Andresen and 63rd and carefully and excitedly shopped and curated a fantastic continental breakfast full of variety and simply something for everyone! Much to my surprise and great dismay, Safeway wouldn't take the check. We provided ID's, our club cards, business cards, personal phone numbers, office phone, corporate, and more. We Even showed the check stub with the description and date (Now!) of the Event. They wouldn't take the check and didn't care at ALL about the impact on us. What really got me was that the highest level manager acted like I should know they wouldn't take it and she wasn't the least bit apologetic. WIalmart, Costco, Home Depot, winco.... EVERY store takes our company check and they wouldn't do it. At this point, we had no other resources to draw on to pay for the continental breakfast since the time to serve it had arrived. We literally had to reschedule for the week later! That's so embarrassing! But you know what? We told every resident that showed up to eat exactly what had happened. Almost to a person, each one had a negative opinion of Safeway even before this happened. It's really too bad. I vouched for Safeway to everyone and my own reputation was on the line, and Safeway mIssed a great opportunity to showCase their amazing bakery food within their own market. First of all, FIVE STARS for Brandon in the meat dept.!!! He ALWAYS has a smile on his face and when you ask him how his day is going, he replies FANTASTIC! And HE MEANS IT! PLUS Solomon, the worlds most sweetest and hard working checkers, makes my day every single time that I see him. People don't realize the effect they have on someone's day and I will go out of my way to do business with someone who has a nice staff even if what I want may be easier to find elsewhere. This is a good example of that. This Safeway (162nd) happens to be the most convenient to my home and it is super unfortunate because half the time, they don't have what I need. The shelves seem to be bare. I, also, think the produce is THE WORST here and so again, I have to shop somewhere else. Nothing worse than paying for something that is bad. I was in on Monday and bought a Paypal gift card, took it home to activate and was told someone had already tried. That it was fraud and to take it back to Safeway for exchange or refund. I went in to the store the next day and stood at customer service for 5 min. before an employee (manager), came aggressively up to me and said in a very abrasive tone, "the customer service counter is closed, see the sign!" I said "yes, but I also see the sign next to it that says your open until seven and it's 6:44pm." She responded with, "well it's a really bad night, I just had to break up a fight between two guys." I explained that it was a bad night for me to add $100 of my money was missing, she very abrasively cut me off and said that Safeway had nothing to do with it and would not refund my money. I have emailed, called, left messages.... No response and this is fraud, my money is missing, someone had the numbers of the gift card and they were checking each day waiting for it to be sold so they could steal this money. The card however, has not been activated yet. So Safeway is in fact the only one that received the money. This "manager" was childish, unprofessional, called me names, and behaved appalling. Have been going to Safeway my entire life! I love he prices, and the quality assurance. Since moving to the state, this Safeway is only 2 minutes from my home, and I go every Sunday. The store is always clean, stocked, and full of great deals. Last Sunday, Nicholas was my Cashier. He was very helpful, friendly and went above and beyond for everyone in line. All cashiers here are friendly, and helpful. As well as the store manager ( 49ers fan ) who I met the day before Thanksgiving! I love coming here! read more

I usually shop at a different location but decided to go to this one further out because other location store security followed me around the entire time too close for comfort when I been shopping there frequently for 2 years and never stole anything. since I was the only black customer in the store, I could tell I was being racially profiled. So I don't want Saturday after I finish shopping at this location. We decided to try to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee at Starbucks and had a cart parked just outside the seating area. The entire time to security guards kept staring at us as if we were going to jump up and run out the store without paying for groceries, never shopping at this location again. Going to try one more Safeway and if security follows me around or stares me down while I'm trying to enjoy my coffee then I'm done with all Safeway for good. I was planning to get some rib eye for dinner this evening. They ran out and when I was sent to customer service to get a rain check, the lady told me that they no longer do rain checks for meat. I came home and explained that to my neighbor who told me a few days ago that the steak was on sale, and he also returned from a Safeway, but came home with a rain check. Why not me? This is the Safeway I go to every day. I have had multiple problems with there cashiers. I am just using their "just for you" app. It doesn't register some times and they just don't help me when it dose not. The cashiers and baggers in here have been around for ages. its nice to be able to go into a place where everybody knows your name. Another thing worth noting is that you dont find many stores with employees that know where everything is located. I've had a little bit of trouble finding spices or some random item and they were always able to help me find it in a timely matter. Thats customer service that keeps me coming back. Safeway will be going on strike along with Fred Meyer and some other stores. The management is refusing to budge on increases in pay of more than 5 or10 cents. We can not make a livable wage and many of us have to rely on government food assistance. We have been in talks for close to 2 years and have gotten nothing from them! So unfortunately You may need to go to winco if you want to stand behind your local checkers by not crossing the picket line. As far as Safeway stores go, this one is pretty much run of the mill. Which is pretty dang good. The prices aren't too bad. The customer service is good, which is what gets me coming back over the years as I have a strange dislike of grocery market shopping, so anything to make it more pleasant is welcome. I love how the check out clerks are almost never ever rude. I like their policy of taking you to the item you can't find. I even dig through the produce when I go because I'm picky, and the produce guy isn't even salty about it when I move around like 50 tomatoes looking for the perfect ones. I just couldn't give it 5 stars because I have seen a few better Safeway's. But it's not a bad Safeway either. That's why I say run of the mill. So at 1145 am today 1/23/22 i swung into my local Safeway to grab some ice cream real quick due to just having all my teeth pulled , went to self check out and the lady there with kind of sandy blonde curly hair , told me that i needed to add the digi coupon to my profile/app/# , thats why i wasn't getting the discount, i told her I already did that but these things never work half the time , so she made me go back at to my vehicle to get my phone to show proof i did it, so needless to say i came back in with phone in hand and followed her direction to where the digi coupon would be, and guess what wow it was already there! So she preceded to continue trying to get it to work, and couldn't, so instead of just correcting it on computer to work , the lady sends me over to customer service to a supervisor, she starts the transaction over again and couldn't get it to work like I've been trying to tell them from the start, so then finally the supervisor made the corrections manually to reflect sale item! So my ten min trip to store was like 30-45 min WTH over ice cream! I really feel sorry for the elderly whom are not tech swavy and the hassles they have to go through just to get the savings! Plus people were backing up at self checkout while she was trying to enforce "1" .97 coupon! I think this could have been handled a-lot differently and more efficiently, especially being a former Safeway employee! read more
