I frequent this store usually 3 times a week for French bread since I live right down the street. The bread is always crisp, flaky, and delicious! The bakery is always sweet smelling and the people in the bakery always have a smile one their face. One time my boyfriend and I were even offered multiple samples of the 3 new cakes that they were introduced! The baker was genuinely excited about her cakes and that made me more interested in the product she was selling. I feel like I am in a feel mom & pop bakery when I come to this Safeway. The customer service in the rest of the store is also great. They have a Starbucks and a bank as well. There is a large floral department also. This Safeway is upscale compared to others in the area and is my preferred choice for shopping. read more

Whoever the blonde lady working the express lane today at 11:00am was...please learn some customer service skills. Greet the person you're working with, not the person behind them. I was not acknowledged at all throughout our entire encounter. The Asian lady who bags groceries isn't any better in customer service skills and could probably do some training as well. Pulling your customers cart out of their hands while they're trying to dig through their purse to find their wallet is incredibly rude. I had all of two bags to load and there weren't any lines, so I'm not sure what the rush was. I'll be spending our money at Winco from now on. read more

Horribly understaffed. Had to wait 15 minutes for an employee to unlock the liquor display case only to then wait in a checkout line for 15 minutes to pay for it. Horrible service and high prices. Go to Fred Meyer for better service, lower prices, and better selection. read more

I am pretty much a fan of the deli at Safeway. I love the made to order sandwiches. Much better quality and prices than the chain sandwich restaurants. The groceries on the other hand are fairly expensive. The staff is usually very nice. read more

I've been shopping at this particular Safeway location since I moved into the neighborhood last year. The Pros: Clean store. Good produce department, bakery, meat department and ambiance. Their carry out clerks are very friendly, especially the older Asian lady (I am sorry I don't know your name!). She makes my kids laugh every time and she is so great. The Cons: I have two major gripes about this location. .The first being the deli department. Having worked in a Safeway Deli before, It's clear to me that they are more concerned with preventing waste than having a good selection of fresh, hot food. I have been here at various times of the day and it is consistently providing dried out, old and crusty food way past it's time. I stopped buying fried chicken all together at this location because its always hard and gross. It's almost criminal to be charging customers for food that is barely edible. They have all but given up by dinner time, so I can't ever use the deli to buy dinner for my family. I think that rather defeats the purpose. The Chinese food is usually tired, veggies wilted and over baked under the hot lights, and pot stickers hard as a rock and crusty (which is a shame I imagine it was very tasty initially). Often they have also run out of the roasted chickens, my back up plan when I have to make a quick dinner. I usually end up asking them to cook something fresh for me and having to wait longer in the store, super annoying. The service is mediocre as well. I am yet to really encounter a happy, friendly face helping me. Secondly, The lines are almost always long due to not enough checkers and it takes them forever to respond. Even during busy evening traffic, there is often only 1 express lane and 1-2 regular lanes open when more are needed. Fix those two things and this would be consistently my go to place for shopping. So at 1145 am today 1/23/22 i swung into my local Safeway to grab some ice cream real quick due to just having all my teeth pulled , went to self check out and the lady there with kind of sandy blonde curly hair , told me that i needed to add the digi coupon to my profile/app/# , thats why i wasn't getting the discount, i told her I already did that but these things never work half the time , so she made me go back at to my vehicle to get my phone to show proof i did it, so needless to say i came back in with phone in hand and followed her direction to where the digi coupon would be, and guess what wow it was already there! So she preceded to continue trying to get it to work, and couldn't, so instead of just correcting it on computer to work , the lady sends me over to customer service to a supervisor, she starts the transaction over again and couldn't get it to work like I've been trying to tell them from the start, so then finally the supervisor made the corrections manually to reflect sale item! So my ten min trip to store was like 30-45 min WTH over ice cream! I really feel sorry for the elderly whom are not tech swavy and the hassles they have to go through just to get the savings! Plus people were backing up at self checkout while she was trying to enforce "1" .97 coupon! I think this could have been handled a-lot differently and more efficiently, especially being a former Safeway employee! read more

We have shop there and thought that it was appropriate to support them with a review. The store is clean and service pretty good. Depending on what you buy, some of the prices can be on the higher side. There is of course bargains to be had as well. I have noticed that in the recent past they have struggled to addresss a busy wave. Overall, they still deserve the 5 stars because of quality and service they provide. read more

This Safeway always has horrible lines. Never enough cashiers. They have always been kind though. Being understaffed is not their fault. The staff in the pharmacy is 5 stars. They have always gone above and beyond. read more

No check out clerks (two registers open) with 8 customers in line for each register. Selections for products is getting less all the time. Yet I go back because its close to home. To me its only a convenience store and will do my main marketing at another chain. What I dislike the most about writing this is the staff is so nice, I just wish they worked in a better venue. read more

This Safeway has a local credit union and a Starbucks inside. It also has an in-house bakery that produces (I think) the best bread in this part of Vancouver. It has a good selection of fresh produce, full liquor and beer/wine sections, is open late, and has a friendly staff. I prefer their fresh kaiser rolls for hamburgers to any other bread in the area, and make it a point to buy them here every time. The only downside is that they are comparatively more expensive than other local grocery stores, so I rarely buy non-perishables like pasta, spices or canned goods here. read more

This Safeway location is way better than the one near 78th in Hazel Dell. It is larger, less cramped and the selection is much better. The employee who helped directed me to the isle where to find my product actually walked over and made sure I found it. I was able to find a Goya product here that I could not find anywhere else (including WinCo and Fred Meyer). Although this location is farther from my house than the one in Hazel Dell, I would drive the extra few miles to shop at this one. read more

This Safeway used to be my favorite. Somewhere along the way I think they forgot what they were doing. Every time I go in they are out of something that I'm trying to buy. And for the last two months the produce hasn't been as fresh as it usually is. Who leaves moldy packs of strawberries out for customers to buy?? I'm really disappointed, so much that I have traded my Safeway trips for another grocer. I hope they fix these issues soon. read more

What a terrible experience we had in this Safeway. We had three items to purchase. Went to the express lane where there was one other person in line but way over the max number of items for the express lane. Then they had multiple monopoly coupons to redeem, but had chosen the wrong items to use the coupons on, so the woman checking decided to leave the register in search of the correct item for the person to buy. This took quite a while. Right after she finally came back, a women pushing a cart with some sort of animal in a container began yelling at the cashier, asking her if a certain person was working. The cashier appeased this woman by responding no and continued checking. At this point we'd been standing in line for over 15 minutes. The cashier rang up a few more items and just when we thought it would soon be our turn to purchase things, the woman that was previously yelling popped up along side the cashier and began talking to her nonsensically. We ended up waiting 20 minutes to checkout and the cashier didn't even apologize when we reached the front. read more

Albert and Christina are the worst night team. Went in to purchase some staple groceries and a bottle of liquor. We were finishing our shopping my fiancée went to get in line while I grabbed the last item on the list. As I got to the line she scanned my item and asked for my Id. I gave it to her as I asked her if he had already let her see it and she lost it. She yanked the bottle out of the bag she had already packed it in because I asked her a question! She told me I was obviously intoxicated and she "couldn't sell me the alcohol". Asked to speak to the manager Albert and he didn't even ask any clarifying questions he just said "she is our only operator and so if she won't sell it to you I have to stand by her". So if you want to be judged and basically decharacterized this is the Safeway for you! :( read more

Great team at this store. Avoid at 6pm at all costs! Very busy even with many open lanes. Nice during the day. Good asian food.

I have bought groceries and wine at Safeway for the last 40 years. A month ago we bought a case of fine wines in the $30.per bottle dollar category. I ended up buying a few to many and tried to return 2 bottles with my receipt.(keep in mind I have bought thousands of dollars worth over the years and never returned any)There answer was its against the law. I asked them then how come Fred Meyers, Total Wine, Grocery Outlet, and many others do return no questions asked. I said its store policy and don't lie to me,so then comes the manager he says no return. Then they call the wine clerk and he said yes its the law. So where arguing in front of the store at return counter with all these customers watching. They finally cave and said your the first one in 5 years who has ever been given a refund and I said I can see why because of your embarrassing bully tactics no one will dare ask. So after much embarrassment they give me the refund but lose a lifelong customer. I then go to Fred Meyers that day to shop and told my story and they said OMG not a law and said they return wine for any reason. This is the Safeway in hazel dell Washington. Worst Safeway anywhere! Customer service is non-existent. Will NEVER shop there again! I buy over 250$ of groceries a week and every time I go in they never have checkers in any register but the 15 item or less line. One time the cashier waved me in anyway and then let another customer berate me for having over 15 items, so the next time instead of even attempting to go through the 15 item line I asked for another checker. The checker was very rude to me and said no there were no other checkers, I asked if one of them could move over to a regular checkout she again rudely said no I need to go through the 15 item line. I said no I'm not playing that game again, she said well that's all you got. I walked out of the store with my 300$ of groceries in the cart. These people are brain dead it doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize not all your customers will only have 15 or less items...with two checkers one should have been in the 15 item line and one should have been in a regular check stand. Bunch of idiot's. And really what the deal with 15 item or less lines...why should I wait just because I am spending more money in their store! Seems like they would want to keep people who spend lots of money there happy over the people grabbing beer and cigarettes! read more
