Despite some gripes I have with their pickup service (which I use often), I absolutely love this Safeway. First and foremost, it's extremely nice. The store is impeccably clean, products are always well organized, and the store has an amazing parking garage with large spaces under the store (big points for not getting rained on!). If you're not a Safeway rewards member consistently clipping coupons in the app, you're spending too much. I find Safeway's deals to be pretty incredible compared to other local options (Walmart, military commissary, Costco). Plus, can't beat the convenience of this store's location. Their gas is consistently cheapest in the area, especially when using points for fuel rewards (we are huge on buying 4x points products then using our rewards to get $1/off per gal of gas). Their gas station does get busy but it moves quickly, has a mini mart, and is well-lit so I always feel safe there, even at night. Now, pick up service. The app is incredibly easy to use to place grocery orders. Orders are consistently ready early or precisely on-time. While they're shopping, the employee asks for substitution permission if a product is unavailable. You can also put in acceptable substitutes ahead of time and send messages to the employee shopping. The employees are fast, friendly, and have always selected fresh products, which I appreciate. My gripe is how they pack the car. I drive a Suburban and always ask that they load everything up in the trunk. It is complete chaos with their loading (heavy things on top, unstable things near the front)... several times we've had casualties when I've opened the trunk and groceries have fallen and been ruined (like jars or bottles breaking) because of the poor loading job. A few weeks ago, I picked up an order and the store called me to come back because they had left their tablet in the trunk buried under the groceries. I asked if they were sure (they said "we think we left it in there") and said I'd pull over to check because I didn't want to drive back if it wasn't in there. Welp, as soon as I opened the trunk, a jug of milk and case of Sprite fell right out of my car to the ground and exploded open. I walked the exploded milk jug and Spite cans to a nearby trash can, then, whilst my entire outfit was covered in both, gave up on my preliminary search and drove back to the store. I was so frustrated. They were in a major rush once I arrived and hurried to replace the milk jug but didn't replace the exploded Sprite cans. I'll still get pick up orders but my gosh, please train your employees how to properly load up grocery orders! Nonetheless, I am a several-times-a-week patron of this store and truly feel fortunate to have it so close to home. Despite the gripes, I'm still loyal and think the overall store deserves a solid five stars. On a side note: How freaking cute is the little "free fruit" basket for kids visiting the store (see photos)?! I love that! read more

i've literally never seen someone take so long to put cheese and bacon onto two pieces of bread. i've also never seen someone fail so hard at making a sandwich? i was watching this dude make a sandwich in utter horror. he put the most red onion pieces i've ever seen in one pile on the sandwich, and put mayo on one side and mustard on the other and didn't mix at all. sourdough was also the first thing i said when i explained what i wanted on my sandwich and he gave me white bread. it took 12 minutes to make it. i genuinely hope he was just high and safeway didn't actually hire someone to work at the deli who literally can't even make a sandwich. read more

Its a grocery store. So about what you expect. But the assistant manager here sucks. The staff are friendly enough but under her direction and she's awful. Had a full cart on a sunday morning and she tells me no checkstands are open. Sends me to self checkout. Really you can't ring up a customer with a full cart. You're the manager. read more

Completely unwilling to assist with grocery pickup modification. They shopped for my order way ahead of my scheduled pickup time and would not allow for any modifications despite being 4 hours out from my pickup time. Then, when I picked up my order, they had packed my pears at the bottom of a bag of other heavy items, so they were completely smashed and bruised. read more

Here we go It's a Safeway, like all the other ones I've written about during this trip they are all the same. Of course, this one is larger then the Coos Bay Oregon one. I know you read that review. They have it all from a pharmacy to a bakery to a deli. And wait for it; yes a Starbucks in house. However the butcher station was closed today. I came here on Thanksgiving because I was all prepared for the holidays last week. No last min shopping here :) Overall four stars. It's clean and loaded with everything you need for the household. I dine out so much that I sometimes forget how important it is to regularly have groceries in the house. I literally hate shopping. It is a necessary thing to do but sometimes oh so painful. But I have to do it from time to time. And when I do I take the long drive from Kingston to Poulsbo to shop at the Poulsbo Safeway. I have loved this store since the day they opened. I like the ambience of this Safeway store. The lighting is just perfect in the right spots. I also really appreciate that it's a full service facility where you can get groceries and gas. My favorite part of this store is their beautiful produce section. I think they have a nice selection of very fresh looking fruits and vegetables, and usually have everything that I need when I go shopping there. Whether you want organic or not the choices are there. If you're into meat, and into watching for sales, you can get some wonderful deals. They often put their steaks, lamb, chicken, pork chops, and all on different specials. We tend to like to watch for the steaks to go down in price and be on sale especially the sirloin steaks. The only thing I don't like about the Safeway is that they no longer really have a good deal on their gas. You still accumulate points toward your gas so that you can get nickels dimes and such off. But I think what they've done lately is jacked up their prices on their gas so that when you use your discount you're actually getting the price that you would get at another station elsewhere. The underground parking makes it so convenient. I love it. My dog loves it. It feels safe because it's not closed in. The only bad thing about it is when you take the elevator it will remind you of a very old and overused gym locker. The smell in the elevator is quite putrid. It smells kinda like something would smell if about 20 super athletes had finished playing a very sweaty sport like basketball and they all gathered in the elevator and got stuck in there for like 10 hours together. Then you walked in just as the doors opened up again. A friend of mine really enjoys getting the Safeway flyer and coupons in the mail and online. I love the Safeway app. Everything is truly in real time, and you can see the weekly specials as well as everything else that they might have on sale. It's really a very well structured app. So people would compare this Safeway to Albertsons or the Central Market. To me the Safeway is hands-down easier to navigate, and has the most fresh and appealing looking interior as well as products on their shelves and in their bins. Enjoy shopping at Safeway. read more

I love the idea of the curbside pick up but I don't love the quality of the job well done. For example, I ordered 24 oz of mahi mahi and specifically said no substitution. I received 12 oz of ahi tuna. Now I have to go back to the store to get the correct fish. I ordered a New York strip steak which is nowhere to be found. At least I wasn't charged for it so maybe they were out, but I actually was open to substitution for the steak but didn't get one! I believe it was overlooked completely. I order apples with every single order and it's not uncommon to receive some bruised ones. The orders I place are large and I buy organic, so I spend a lot of money for them to do a poor job. When I'm in the store, no one ever asks if I need help. Literally, no one. I'm done, Safeway. read more

Honestly, if you would have asked me a year ago, this place would have been on my do-not shop list due to the problems, but I think this store actually took feedback seriously and majorly improved. Everything has been better-- store is cleaner, employees are more professional, pickup is so much better, and I have even become a member and have been using delivery service. I have noticed an uptick in actual adults working here, and while I do not want to judge people on their age, the overall cs experience is so much better with adults providing services to other adults. My groceries are always fresh and never crushed, and everyone now seems very happy to be at work. i never seem to have missing items anymore which is making my life a lot easier. Even the pharmacy has improved. Safeway, keep up the good work. I hope yall dont merge with Kroger because you guys at the Poulabo locayion are doing evweything just right. read more

The Beautiful Polusbo Safeway Gas Station The Good Things - extremely clean gas station - the pumps were clean, there was no trash on the ground, the trash cans were emptied as they needed to be! - very well lit area, as a person alone at night (especially as a woman) it can be scary stopping to get gas, but the gas station had a lot of light in the area so it felt pretty safe. along with it is in a populated area, the safeway grocery store is right next to it, and there are usually people around! - there are a lot of spaces for you to pull in, it's definitely not crammed at all! and on either side there is a good amount of space to wait in line if need be! - love the gas station attendant at the pump (i provided pictures!) :-) The "Bad" Things - the first pump i pulled into, the keypad sadly did not work. i tried to enter my Safeway number and it simply didn't respond. however i just moved my car one pump over and it worked great! - the "gas mart" (small store near to the pumps) is not open late (i believe it closes around 9) which is a little disappointing however if you urgently need something, the Safeway grocery store is across the parking lot! - I may be incorrect about this, but i believe there isn't a trash can by every pump! and they are placed in strange spots! however this didn't come as an issue at all, and i could be completely wrong! Overall, wonderful gas station! I absolutely love it! And don't forget to use your safeway card to save on gas (I got $1 off per gallon the time before last & $.60 off per gallon the last time!) read more

I really love this Safeway, location, employees, meat department etc but they really need to train their baggers. After my shopping experience yesterday I was ready to walk back in the store and show the proof of my disappointment but after I spent 20 minutes in the parking lot sorting thru the baggers mess I was to worn out. I had smashed buns and bread. Bruised and battered ripe pears. The bags were so heavy I had to take a bunch of stuff out just so I could put it in the car. The brown bags tore all over the place. I was told the store was out of plastic. Oh the list goes on and on. I can't always bag my own or go to self serve because I buy to much. It's not rocket science the baggers need training. I was a bagger many moons ago and our manager personally trained us. Shot fake orders to us instructing us on what to put together how heavy to make the bags etc please if someone at the store reads this help me to continue shopping at your store. I really hate Walmart and Central market is to expensive or doesn't have the brands I need. read more

I am so glad to say that each time I have been here, after my review, the bathrooms have been clean and tidy. The manager contacted myself after I wrote my concern on the Safeway website. We recently purchased a package of four ears of corn, already prepared with butter that looked delicious. However, when I opened the package the next day, I discovered that the corn was mushy and not cleaned at all adequately. I basically had to wash all the seasoning off, so that I could remove the husk and when I started looking at it closely, it was very obviously mushy. Great shopping experience until check out time with a checker if you can find one. Standard procedure is to have not two check out lanes open and back up customers into the isles. Called and discussed with the store manager weeks ago and he acknowledged there should be more checkers working the registers. Shopped there again today and same story with two lanes open and backed up for the wait. Spoke with manager personally and he was supportive but had not corrected the poor service problem. When a store is this poorly managed and they can't keep enough check stands open to keep a flow, it's only a matter of time before customers stop shopping there. To big to fail is the wrong attitude and I'm just one person, but my shoes will shop elsewhere. read more

Convenient location coming from the Seattle/Bainbridge Island ferry (or a backtrack from Edmonds/Kingston ferry) for any forgotten grocery items or a gas fill up. Amazing layout and friendly checkout staff. I mentioned that makes my revamped Safeway in Shoreline look so ghetto. Bainbridge Island, Kingston, and Poulsbo area sure has grown in population if it can support this Safeway, Central Market and WalMart! read more

This rating is only for the drive up service. Comparing it to another local pick up service in the area I must say the other service is simply better all around. At both places you have to schedule a time in advance, a one hour window. I selected a 3 o'clock pick up time and by time I checked out which was in within 10 minutes my pick-up time had moved down to 4 PM. When my order was ready I never received a text telling me, however I did find an email in my spam that said my order was ready at 2:16!!! I wish I would've had the option of a text. When I pulled into the pick up parking space I read the instructions for pick up, it said to call the phone number listed on the parking space placard and let them know which parking space I'm in (there are only two parking spaces however neither are numbered) and when I initially called the phone number it rang probably 10 times and I got no answer so I hung up thinking I got the phone number wrong and called back, it rang about five times before someone answered, they replied they would be out soon, they were out within about 5 minutes. I never got a final receipt and typically this wouldn't frustrate me however, at Safeway you can add the "just for you" coupons (different Safeway app!!) and I want to be sure they've applied to my order, in the past they haven't and come to find out later on this day, the ground beef coupon hadn't yet again. I want my $1.20 a pound savings on ground beef, that's expensive these days! At the other store in the area when I pay for a pick up service the final payment online is the price I pay, all coupons and discounts are applied at the time of check out online. I receive a receipt immediately via email and see everything accurately ahead of time. At Safeway you don't always know your correct total in advance. Also, at Safeway the gal never tells you if something was substituted or out, so I get all the way home and I find out something is missing, so then I have to call to determine if they forgot it or they were out of stock! When I shop the other pick up store in the area, customer service couldn't be better, the first thing they do is go over substitutes or out of stock items. Anyway, would I recommend pick up here, no, but will I again, yes, small orders only and ask when I arrive, IS EVERYTHING HERE? read more

This is not towards the store but the pharmacy. Horrible cust service and don't be surprised if they tell you 30 mins then come to find out its another 30 mins then another 15 mins. 3rd time I had to play the 3x a charm waiting game here. The first time I waited 45 mins then they told me to come back tomorrow. Our entire family is switching to a new pharmacy because they can't seem to get their stuff straight or organized. Here's a tip hire a more efficient pharmacist and techs. Maybe even more staff. read more

When shopping at this Safeway I was accused by the staff of shoplifting and had to police pull up with backup. They had stopped and frisked me and even after they hadn't found anything on me the woman working there continued to tell the cop that I had something on me and this seemed to make the police officer more aggravated. read more

My local Poulsbo Safeway is a wonderful place to shop. Always clean and inviting. Produce is fresh and inviting. Staff is always helpful and eager to help me find whatever I need. The cashiers are very knowledgeable and cheerful. Wonderful under building parking in the HOT of summer and the RAIN in winter. I feel very happy to have this store in our town. read more

This is a terrific, new Safeway. Lovely produce, pharmacy has its own waiting room, the sushi chef is fabulous, as is Eric the wine sommelier (yes, Safeway has a wine sommelier!) who is incredibly knowledgeable about wine if you need suggestions. Speaking of the wine, they have a terrific selection and the prices are good. I honestly never thought I'd be going to a Safeway to quickly pick up sushi for lunch (and like it) or a bottle (or two) of wine for dinner, but that's what I do at this one. The underground parking when it rains is also a big plus. read more

I went here for hamburger because I was making meatloaf later. All the hamburger expired that day so I asked for fresh ground. She told me that she didn't have the grinder put together yet and I should come back in 20 to 30 minutes or more. I told her that I didn't have that kind of time. I also said that customer service was nonexistent here and that if I had time, I would go to the Silverdale location because they had excellent service. An older man followed me to the bakery and said he could get the meat done in 5 minutes, which he did. The elevators are filthy. Store personel Are NOT Helpful. Go to Silverdale. read more

Michael at the Poulsbo Safeway fuel station was my hero last week! While visiting town for my sons soccer game,I realized I left my purse at home and on E. He was so kind to find a way to help me pay over the phone with my bank. This act of kindness will not go unnoticed! I don't believe my case is unique, after witnessing countless customers, in and out where he knew their name and asked about family members. Deli sandwiches - while I have shopped at this Safeway and enjoy the store, the service in the deli sandwich section is terrible. Today my daughter and I were shopping at 12:30 and she wanted a sandwich for lunch. We expected that during the lunch hour we could get a sandwich- but no one came to the counter. After a few minutes a woman from another department came by, paged the deli staff and apologized, but still no one came. All together we were there about 10 minutes. I sent my daughter to get a few groceries and when she returned we gave up, paid for our groceries and left. Next time we need groceries and lunch we will shop at Central market. read more

Safeway is the best store around. We get our prescription medications there and shopping all in one. The Bainbridge Island store is fantastic, with a wonderful wine and beer selection as well as a great variety of cheese. If you need to special order something, the staff is really good about getting what ever you need. read more

Last night May 19th went to Safeway and bought lobster tails and prime steaks for dinner cost about $65 total. My boyfriend got deathly.sick from the lobster tails. Im now aware of the facts that you dont buy lobster tails unless their frozen or fresh. Safeway had them at 50% off. My boyfriend is still sick and cant go to work today. Husband said hello to checker... no response... husband spoke again... checker finally acknowledged us... husband asked why the checker doesn't speak... checker said he doesn't have much to say. It's Safeway; not too much to rave about. All of the staff was friendly...I don't think I've ever been asked if I needed anything more often! Opening just down the street from Central Market, I was thinking they would have a better beer selection, but it's just average at best. Parking was a nightmare but only because it was the Grand Opening; I suspect it won't be an issue once the hype dies down. It's nice to have the Safeway gas station now...I think they usually have slightly lower prices with their free membership. Oh and now I have a Starbucks an whole 0.25 miles closer...yippee! read more

I called this evening to get information about flowers for a wedding. I was told by whoever answered the phone in the floral department that I'd have to come in for an appointment. I just wanted to have a conversation to get a rough idea for pricing and what they're able to provide before I drive 2 hours away to this Safeway. I was quickly and rudely rush off the phone because she had a customer in front of her. She could have politely asked if she could put me on hold while she helped this customer and I would have said yes and I would have waited. But instead she said she had to let me go because she had someone and I would just have to come in at a scheduled appointment. But she didn't even give time to think of when I could drive 2 hrs to this store. She just listed off when she would be there and to make an appointment and got off. I don't mean to come across negative but if I'm wanting flowers for a wedding and I'm willing to spend several hundred dollars the least you can do is to give me 5 minutes of time and not brush me off the phone very rudely. read more

The store is okay, they have great cashiers willing to help at every corner, the Deli suxs there service needs to improve 100 percent, one or two servers are good but when you see one on a cell phone and not even look at you, the other one has blinders on, does not know who to serve , ou stand inline and they serve ones who just walked up, when you say your first they ignor you and carry on serving them, maybe they friends or next door neighbors.
