It's cheaper price wise here then out in town for octane. And it reminds me of a 7-11 with the lay out. I know you read those reviews. Cashiers on the right of the door. Drinks aka soda, liquor, water all along the wall and snacks and small electric stuff in the center floor. There's also like a hot deli restaurant all the way in the back. But it only come here now for gas, because it's cheaper than anywhere else. And they honor the handicap requirement. They come out and pump my gas. Only one time.Did I get a bad attitude from someone who happened to be the manager. Plus she didn't understand the law. Once I pointed out the postings about how they will service people with handicaps, she got it. But generally, they give me great service with no attitude. So my gas always cost me a little bit more because I give them a nice tip. But i'm grateful.

I was told that the family matriarch did all the baking. Since it was before Thanksgiving I asked if I could make a pie order. I did it via text using the number on card they gave me. I ordered 3 pies and 24 dinner rolls. Picked up them the day before Thanksgiving. They were perfectly packaged for travel and the rolls are still warm, yeasty and large. My family raved about all of them and really loved the rolls. I hope people support the family by ordering from them. It is a funky place and there still figuring out what their niche is. The key will be not to try to be all things. A general store it's not. But the baked good were excellent.

Now add a bunch of glass pipes and bongs along with a bit more alcohol than your average 7-11. Welcome to Beaver Valley. Gas prices aren't great, but they aren't horrible either, and I get it that gas deliveries are probably a bit more out in the boonies. The aisles are narrow, the shelves aren't brimming with goods and the place is just dingy. To be fair, they've recently had new management, and the guy who bought it probably isn't loaded with cash, so it's going to take a while for him to build the business up. The building recently got a coat of fresh paint, and it's now downright vivid. It would be nice to fix the sign on top so it says "BEAVER VALLEY" rather than BEAVER VAL_EY"

Ralph's Red Apple Market seems like your typical small town grocery store. I have been here twice…read morenow. I have been in contact with a craft beer brewer in Bremerton and he is production only and does not have his own taproom. During our communication I asked where his bottled beer could best be obtained. He said the most reliable place was to go to Ralph's Red Apple Market. He does have other locations that carry his beer but you have to be there at the right time. This small, local brewery is named Smitty's Brewing. There are about nine different kinds of Smitty's bottled beer here. So far I have tried four and fell in love with his beer and made a special trip out of Tacoma to come back here and try the remaining five bottled beers. Where the beer is located was slightly tricky for us the first time around. We found the liquor section quickly but Smitty's is not in the refrigerated section with the rest of the beer. If you head to that section and simply turn around you will see that they have their own little rack of Smitty's. It would be in about the same proximity of a "sidecap" but in a technical way it isn't actually a side cap but a rack. If my directions are too confusing with this be sure and ask someone and they can point it out to you. When I was here I also did some basic grocery shopping for a few things. Normally in a grocery store I don't know very well I wonder the aisles for a while looking for what I need. In this case at Ralph's I found everything I needed quickly with virtually no trial and error wondering in the slightest. I'm not too sure if that's beginner's luck on my part with an unfamiliar store or if the lay out is easy to comprehend to find what you need. Maybe a little bit of both. The cashiers here are very nice and if you buy more than four of Smitty's bottled beer you can a discount on the 5th bottle. Pretty cool! I had two sandwiches I don't recall which ones but they were pretty good! I was hoping to get a coffee in the morning after a walk one day, but I didn't know exactly what to order because there was no menu. I did hear one of the workers say they could make basically anything. I came and ordered ice cream for the beach. It was a little pricey for scoops of ice cream, I also think I saw a price for it on the board but was charged a little more, so many the board needs updating. Overall a cute spot to check out if you're around. On the weekends they do a little local farmers market across the street. Fun to check out also. Check out the photo, if you want to see what I mean. They don't have everything, but they sure try. They have the best, most lively earthworms for bait you'll find anywhere. And plenty of beer. Beer is important. While there, we heard the nice woman at the counter immediately turn on a guy who she said came in drunk one night and yelled at her, then ran out and drove off. At first he tried to deny it was him, probably to save face to his companion, but the Daily Stop lady minced no words in clarifying the matter -- no, it WAS him, that she remembered, "you know, that night you were REALLY drunk and came in here and yelled at me and drove off? I called the cops on you and they were looking for you." He shook his head meagerly. He knew he was SOOOO caught! Then she ignored him and rolled her eyes over to us, and in her sweetest voice and asked us what size hooks we needed, and if she could help us with anything else... Gotta love being treated with the "good sibling" effect. Well worth the price of admission to this little store out in the middle of nowhere.

And probably the best selection of licorice I think I've ever seen in an American store, more than an aisle focused on licorice. There are the standard varieties, but also some serious salted varieties, including ones I haven't seen outside Finland. Also, lots of other German sweets and chocolates. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and shared my enthusiasm for the great stuff they carried. Well worth a visit. Who knows what you'll end up getting!
