Their useless option selection

Grocery delivery is awful. Placed an order and the driver never showed up. Claims I wasn't home (see screenshot below) but when I went to talk to customer service (a poorly trained AI bot) there was no option for "my order never showed up" (see screenshot below) When I tried free form text it also did not understand my question (see screenshot below). I'm going to find even more things I can switch from Safeway to Trader Joe's and Costco now because they understand customer service.

Smell in the yogurt case was of mildew...smelled it as soon as I opened the door. Ewww.

Really recommend this Safeway got the chance to meet Steph Curry the way it was about three hours and his bottle was about $100 but definitely worth the experience to definitely interact with my favorite NBA player Staff and service here are very friendly. The ambience is a very clean and sanitize Safeway

Beware of disgusting moldy bread with spores on the underside of the bread rolls.

Warning!! Warning!! Beware of buying deli sandwiches from Menlo Park Safeway location. Purchased a hot turkey pastrami sandwich which I consumed half that evening! Next day after preparing to eat the other half I discovered the back of bread roll had gross black mold and spore bumps (see pics). Inspect your sandwich well. They need a quality food check.

I stopped in to grab a few groceries and the fresh and steamy "Asian bar" made me hungry so I gave it a try. Wow it was actually really good! I'm impressed for a Safeway. 8.99/ lb

Service was excellent. They give away boxes. Great for carting things to good will. They also have potato chips.

Love the hours. The takeout deli section is great with lots of variety. Produce is fresh and well priced with lots of choice.

Draeger's is where a quick grocery run casually turns into a special occasion…read more Start with the bakery: the chocolate cake is rich without being over the top--smooth, balanced, and somehow disappears faster than expected. The apple pie leans classic in the best way: flaky crust, tender apples, just enough sweetness to justify another slice. Then the butcher counter shows real precision. Asked for two Wagyu steaks cut to identical thickness, and they delivered perfectly--even cuts so both cook evenly, no guesswork. Of course, that level of quality comes at a price (think ~$58/lb), so this is more "treat yourself" than weeknight dinner. Produce holds its own too. The asparagus was fresh, crisp, and naturally sweet--no stringiness, just clean flavor. You come here for the details--and stay despite the total.

This is the last classic Draeger's there is now that the San Mateo and Blackhawk locations have…read moreclosed because the Los Altos location doesn't carry housewares. This location of Draeger's is much closer to what the San Mateo location used to be. The top floor is mostly cards/party supplies and housewares (though it does look like they have a coffee shop up there) and the bottom floor is the grocery section. They had easy parking right out front and I was able to pick up a chestnut scoring tool and review their small selection of Le Creuset. All in all if you have the option I'd visit this location over Los Altos as it's more robust and definitely more friendly.

Cute, tiny specialty store on the perimeter of this new Menlo Park foodie complex. Fun to browse…read morethe cheese and snacks, and good looking options for fresh pasta, foccacia sandwiches, and antipasto for a quick dinner. Generally expensive, as expected for a specialty import store in this area. However, the gelato and foccacia are both exceptionally good and priced on par with what you'd pay for less delicious versions elsewhere. Foccacia is among the best I've had - pillow light, springy, and well developed flavor. Gelato had a perfect texture - smooth, dense, and creamy - more flavorful than standard ice cream (just as good gelato should be). I got a single cup of half pistachio and half cookies & cream - both flavors were on point. Portion felt generous for $5.99 (compared to other gelatos in the area) and as with the foccacia, the quality here stood out. Given how flavorful gelato is, I found a single to be perfectly satisfying. Foccacia sandwiches looked divine - earmarking to come back and try those when I'm not avoiding deli meat (due to pregnancy). I think there are less expensive places to buy imported cheese, although I did grab a round of tartufo from the cheese case because it was calling to me. The folks working here are helpful and friendly. In short, a tasty place to grab a chic snack or low lift dinner.

The market is closed, but the gelato window is open Fri-Sun noon-6…read more - 4.5: Gianduja gelato: It's too sweet and salty, but great flavor. It's milk chocolate and hazelnut. - 4.3: Pistashio gelato: It's too sweet, and the salt level is very high. But great flavor. They do not skimp on the pistachio. - 4.2: Mint chocolate chip. They use a mint extract, not real mint. But it's good. The chocolate chips are thin shards that melt quickly. - 3.0: Strawberry milk-based gelato: The flavor is weak and somewhat artificial, and the gelato is too sweet. Great smooth texture. It has some tang to it, from either lemon juice or a cultured dairy product. - 3.0: Chocolate gelato: It has a stale, burned, artificial flavor.
