We come to Safeway because they offer certain items we can't find anywhere else. They have a milk brand my mother loves as well as good produce. We usually find some good OR beers. It is usually clean and we are able to usually find the items we came there for. Staff are usually helpful if we have a question. looks like it's time to start going out of my way a bit to Fred Meyers. This time of year I get tired of the pressure tactic of the clerks to get people to donate. The debit card machine asks you to donate and they have a coupon display for different dollar amounts on the counter by the register that the customer could select to give the employee as you are being rung up. But that's not enough. The cashier had to verbally ask if you want to donate to a needy family. Today I was in line behind an elderly man who said no and then, based on the pressure campaign by Safeway, felt he needed to explain why he couldn't afford it. Make sure to stay away from checking out with Chris D. Rude and very unkind. It's to bad the men checkers can't be as reliable and kind as the women. I have been shopping at Safeway for many years. Normally, they have a good selection of products at reasonable prices. Within the last month, for some reason, they have chosen to deceive people who place their orders online. Initially, I thought that it was an error. As I have repeatedly brought it to the attention of both the local store, on Crater Lake Hwy in Medford, and the corporate office, it is obvious that they are aware of the deception and unwilling to correct it. On the Safeway website and app, they offer two choices for croissants, a Fifteen count of mini croissants for $5.00 or an Eight count of regular size croissants for $7.00. They do not offer any other options. The last four times I have ordered the mini croissants (and indicated NO substitutions), I have received a Nine count box for the same price, $5.00. Upon checking inside the store in the bakery department, it appears that they no longer offer a Fifteen count box, only a nine count box. While stores do sometimes change their products or prices, they can not advertise and sell one product but fulfill the order with a different quantity than advertised. read more

This Safeway is one I'll go to when I am also visiting Petsmart which is next door. The Safeway is large and has a very good produce department. The prices have always been higher at Safeway so it's wise to use a Safeway club card. I do my small shopping trips here when I don't want to go to the competition because of being short on time. 5 star plus to the gentleman who helped us in the Deli department today(11/22/2018)! I wish I got his name, but didn't get a chance. On the road for thanksgiving day and most places are closed. We didn't have any food, so we got to croissants, soup and wanted some deli meat to make sandwiches. He slice some up and even gave us a piece to sample, making sure it was the right thickness and exactly what we wanted. They advertise a sale price that you can only get by using their app which doesn't work and rarely gives the appropriate discount. Was told by a manager to try loading all the coupons on my app at home before going to the store. I tell her I did that and she tells me to go home and try again. Not shopping here again. I used the pharmacy in this store this evening. I waited for the pharmacist talked to a customer about their friends and things not related to the bag containing medication that was in the customer's hands. This went on for almost 5 minuets. They both could see me. They would have continued but I asked if I needed to go somewhere else. He looked at my script and said well you have to go down there, and pointed to the other end of the counter. No one could be seen there. And no apology for keeping me waiting. There is no customer service from the pharmacist, a person old enough to know what it is but not concerned. I hope Safeway is paying him accordingly read more

Absolutely terrible customer service at the deli. We went and stepped up to the sandwich counter, we never had gone there and tried the sandwich bar it looked new so we had some questions. Made eye contact with every associate behind the counter and got ignored while the woman working took every single person who stepped up after us infront of us because nobody wanted to bother making a sandwich. I waited and waited and even moved spots to maybe get someone else's attention and still nothing after everyone was helped except us they went to the back. I wandered back over to my wife where the sandwich counter was and they must have assumed we gave up and left because they then decided to come back out however with an empty counter and just us this woman seemed ticked she couldn't get out of it. I said my wife would like a sandwich just as Aaron stepped up to my wife because she finally got his attention enough to come over. He then looks upset for being asked he turns to the gal who I just told my wife needs a sandwich made she then shrugs and goes you got?? He clearly didn't have it. He had no idea what questions we were asking at all and all I asked was do you have sourdough rolls. They talk amongst themselves and finally say we don't have any and I said forget it. Alllllll we wanted to know from the jump was if they had that bread to even want a damn sand which all that waiting for no reason. Lazy unprofessional employees your job is to serve the costumer even when you don't want to do it. I don't wanna work but I do my job regardless step up your work ethic. Friendly cashiers. Clean store. It was pretty empty considering it was 5pm, during the busy part of day. Prices are crazy here unless you shop the sales! Their sales aren't even great deals, barely normal priced! Albertsons is arranged the exact opposite so this store was difficult to navigate since I'm not used to Safeway. On the surface this is your every day Safeway (minus the self-checkout) but deep down you'll find a store that isn't comprised of your every day jerko employees. Delicious and Nutritious deli sandwiches that are prepared by the friendly and efficient safeway signature staff. Free starbucks sample drinks. Yummy Chinese food. Wells fargo and ATM on premises. Clean bathrooms. Safe parking lot with a plentiful tree shaded parking spots. The patrons replace the shopping carts in the designated locations or the employees do an excellent job of herding those shopping carts. Buying groceries with my safeway card reduces my gas prices by $0.20/gallon. This is my favorite Safeway in the world. read more

I am disappointed with this safeway every single time I walk into the produce department. Every time, no matter the day of the week or time of day half the produce is rotted or wilting, yet safeway certainly charges a higher than I can find elsewhere price. Who is in charge of this produce department?? They need a serious overhaul. I see on my last visit that they are completely reorganizing the entire layout of the store. Perhaps with that they will revamp the produce department management as well??? Best Safeway in Medford. We choose to drive an additional 10 minutes out of our way just to go here. The service is great & the deli is much better than the Safeway in the Medford Shopping Center. They don't argue with you when you order the Shanghai Dinner with chow mein & fried rice...at the Medford Shopping Center the girl told us she could lose her job if she gave us both (I'm pretty sure if the difference between fried rice & chow mein meant your job then you were doing other things wrong that would warrant your termination). In general much friendlier staff and a much cleaner store with the prices being the same. Well worth the extra 10 minute drive. read more

This review is specifically for the Pharmacy: I normally go to Rite Aid but they seem to have problems having my medication about 80% of the time! I was so ticked off yesterday when I my prescription wasn't ready so I called this Safeway Pharmacy to see if they had it. The ladies I talked with were very nice and professional. She told me that had it and I could transfer the prescription over to them. Everything went smoothly and they even called me to let me know it went through and they'd have my prescription ready! When I went over there they were still very friendly (unlike Rite Aid). Now that I've had this experience I'll want to be switching to this Pharmacy instead. read more

The girls at the deli have a brain the size of an average marble. Asked for no mayo, the first thing she put on the bread? Mayo! Dealt with it because it wasn't worth her attitude that she gave a different customer when he asked her to cut the sandwich in half and she "forgot" - said "I'm sorrrrry jeeeeeez" to him and his wife. Use to be an okay neighborhood store with pretty good meats and fresh vegetables. Not too pricey if you looked for the sale items. Recently purchased by Albertson's and ruined. Soggy pre-packaged vegetables and jacked-up prices for meat and fish. We avoid shopping there now. Winco actually has fresher vegetables, and that's saying something. read more

Considering there is hardly anyone shopping here anymore should tell you something. I figure at this rate they cant stay around to much longer doing business this way and will probably be a Haggens soon enough. My main issue is there pharmacy. I have been using Safeways pharmacy's on the west coast for my medications since early 2000. I moved to the Medford area several years ago and started going here to fill my meds. At that time it would take 15 - 20 min to get my prescriptions filled. The same as it always had even in big citys like SF. Today it takes me at least an hour and sometimes twice that from the time I drop of my scripts. There is even issues when they get called in from my Dr. I also noticed in just the few years I have been going here that nearly every person in the pharmacy but maybe one has all been replaced. Why that is I am not sure, Its not like they tell you why your old pharmacist is no longer working there anymore. For awhile it seemed as if there was a new Pharmacist working there each time I came in. There is a new manager there named Ken, He does seem fair, but also seems over worked. They have told me the reasons for the long waits are because they are short handed in the past. Yet even when there are 3 pharmacists and 3 workers it still takes over an hour. Today one person told me the wait was because of the type of meds I take. Then I told her the same meds have been filled in 15 min here. The pharmacist on duty ( A new lady I had never seen before ) laughs and told me those days are over. I have witnessed old ladys come in saying they were told to come back at a certain time just to be told there meds are still not ready and that it would be another 20 min wait. So when I go to pick up today they then tell me the wait was because of the new data system to monitor meds and that 1 hour will be normal. So then why does my Aunt get her meds filled in Grants Pass from a Walgreens in 15 min with the same system Safeway has?I feel its because these Parmacists feel they can treat people and tell them what ever they want. And that most of us don't know all the rules so get told what ever. It really boils down to no one likes to be lied to. Maybe one day soon they will install these robots that dispense meds like some stores have now and we wont have to wait on someone who isn't don't there jobs well to count meds for us. It should not take anyone 90 min to count 30 pills. lol read more
