Every time I visit Safeway I'm reminded that the produce sucks and the prices are awful. Whole Foods is cheaper.

Outside of a good vast selection of groceries, this place should have never gone too a non 24/7 schedule.

Very very very very long wait in the one line that was open for checkout. A dozen customers or so waiting and not happy.

I had a frustrating experience at checkout. I was already having a rough day, but the employees were loudly chatting and laughing instead of greeting customers, When I scanned my item, one of the employees abruptly said, "Ma'am, that's broken," in a very rude tone. Instead of kindly directing me to another register, I moved on my own to the next one since it appeared empty I didn't notice there were already blueberries scanned there. Then she snapped again, "Ma'am, there are blueberries there." The overall attitude felt very unpleasant and unprofessional. These employees don't seem suited for customer service if they can't treat customers respectfully. read more

Normally I have a good experience here but you definitely need to make sure prices ring up correctly by checking your receipt. Something rang up incorrectly so I went to Brian in customer service. He was super condescending and when he couldn't figure out why it wasn't priced properly either...instead of offering a price adjustment he refunded the purchase. Ummm I wanted that at the price advertised or I wouldn't have bought it in the first place. Anytime this has ever happened before I was just given a price adjustment. read more

Still very impressed with this location! We shopped at a different time today (busier) but still no where near as crowded as other markets. Shout out to whomever is responsible for the parking lot.. below freezing temps last night and the lot was evenly distributed with ice melt.. the ENTIRE parking lot! Great job! Waited for an hour for an appointment that was booked days before. It was just a simple shot that should've taken 3 minutes tops at their Pharmacy, but instead they dragged it out and made my already busy day even busier. Don't go here if you want to be served properly by staff. read more

Cashier was extremely rude to my friends and I. She was ringing us up and running the self checkout at the same time. A group of people from Guatemala that I work with were also there shopping at the time and she kept making comments about them. We tried to explain that they don't speak english and they aren't from here, but she continued to scoff and angrily walk back and forth between us and the self checkout through our whole transaction. "why is he on one that's closed now uShe says she had a "rough day" because the fair is in town. I put on an order for pick up, as I have a baby that's sometimes the easier way to get shopping done. I arrived at the pick up parking and put my spot number in the app, no one came out for over 10 minutes I called the number on the app and no one answered. Finally I ended up calling the store it's self to figure out what is going on with my order. Took way too long, over 30 minutes. At that point I could have gotten shopping done in store all by myself. I just wish pick up service was more punctual. read more

Been shopping here for years. Its always clean, staff is always friendly, food is fresh. Having staff that can bag the items makes for a quick check out. Now that I have four kids I don't shop here much because its pricier, but great for last minute items. read more

This Safeway store needs a lot of help in the deli. There seems to be a definite lack of management and the workers are friendly and nice but there seems to be some over all confusion. Whoever is in charge of the deli and the manager of the store could use some training in how to run this operation. It's okay here. The prices are high, so it wouldn't be my first choice but the location is convenient. More selections than Food Pavilion but it gets rather busy here. Despite the high prices you can get deals when something is on sale. The other day Halo Top ice cream was on sale plus I had a coupon for $2 off, so I only paid $1.99. The staff is friendly, however, I have never been there and not been over charged! My cod filet was swiped twice today and I was charged $3.99 per pound for Honey Crisp Apples when they were advertised with Safeway card for $2.99 per pound. Last purchase I was charged $3.99 for raspberries (purchased 2) when they were advertised 2 for $5.00. Check your receipts people, this is the 4th time it's happened to me and we've only lived here 2 months! Last complaint would be that cashiers are a little rough with our groceries. i just cringe when they throw my produce from the scanner to the belt, to be bagged. I went to the sunset store the other day on my way to my daughters b-ball game. I got chow mien and general tsos chicken. The chow mien noodles were either hard or rubbery. The chicken was in a gelatinous sauce that had very little taste or heat. This meal was actually horrible. I should have known for a $5 special, but, I could have gone to Taco Bell across the parking lot for $5 and easily been impressed over this meal. read more

Tolerable. My beef with this, and every Safeway- is the same two givens: 1) not enough checkers, 2) never carrying all your main brands. They quit carrying my wife's ice cream bars, and yesterday had none of the coffee mate creamer in sugarfree. As a diabetic, it's a pain to shop here. Mostly this place has exceptional service. But twice now I've gone in there and been treated to the obnoxious "hard time routine" old guys love to do to every woman they see, all day, every day exactly the same way. Apparently they think theyre fooling the world but really they're fooling themselves. Yesterday I was buying mayonnaise and an older big mouthed guy felt the need to harrass me about not choosing Best Foods brand (the more expensive) and pressed the issue in a loud voice as I walked away. He got louder and louder as I proceeded down the hall saying Best Foods is $3.99 at the other stores. Yeah ....that's the same price Safeway has when it's not on sale. I'd like to know if Safeway is taking a cue from the street market vendors of Moroccan or French markets?? Haggling, harassing and bellowing at customers isn't service. If I were a man or with a man he would have kept his big mouth shut. Next time he better of I'll go to the manager...again. read more

This store is often out of things on there shelves ie.. lettuce, cucumber, sale items. This is the only store in Lynden so its very busy the store manager needs to put more thought into the purchase of items to be sure there will be plenty through the week. read more

A lot of items gone off the shelf.. I was overcharged on Franz bread loafs. Tried to call, with receipt, to resolve the $$ difference. I was put on hold , twice. I'm disabled and do not drive right now. So an impatiently sounding manager didn't know "what your talking about" . No resolution was agreed upon. read more

The deli section would be great if you could get the staff to actually HELP. This is not the exception but unfortunately the rule. Today, like many other times I have been in, there were people waiting to be helped while four Count them FOUR employees were behind the counter. One of the people waiting for service was another employee on break! I saw no one was getting helped so I went and did my other shopping. Coming back after walking to the other side of the store and back, I found nothing had changed. Same people waiting to be helped. So I asked the employee that was still waiting if he had been helped yet. He replied, "No." As we stood there discussing how it was often the case to have staff behind the counter doing everything BUT help customers suddenly we both got waited on. As we both got served at the same time we also went to pay at the same time. The employee mentioned that he only had four minutes left on his break because he had spent most of it waiting for someone to hand him a piece of chicken from behind the counter. Hey SAFEWAY, the deli could be a real money maker and probably is for stores with good management and staff. I have gone to this store, and this deli many times since it is convenient, however it is ALWAYS frustrating. Not because of the food, but because of the staff. I am sick with a nasty cough and bronchitis. I have serious health issues and its difficult for me to get out. I recently asked someone in the Safeway Pharmacy to help me with a very specific cough medicine to save me from having to go in and shop around for nothing. She was rude and impatient. She said, "we normally dont stock that, and I'll have to look on the shelf." When she got back to the phone, she said in a very annoyed voice, " There are many kinds of cough medicine and you'll just have to come in." I dont recommend this pharmacy. I can honestly say I have never been so disgusted by what I witnessed today at this store. I mentioned to a clerk that the all the cartons of a certain brand of eggs which I happened to want to buy either were missing eggs or had cracked eggs. What was the result? The clerk took eggs from another carton and replaced the missing and damaged eggs. Seems innocent? The eggs the clerk used to replace the damaged eggs were from ANOTHER BRAND, a DIFFERENT GRADE, and quite possibly a different sell by date! The date was missing on the carton I bought, another miss-sight by Safeway since it was their brand of eggs. One of the many things I learned to do as an animal science student and by raising poultry was how to check the freshness of eggs, which I did with the eggs I bought, They were obviously VERY different. Why does this disgust me? Well... If this egg replacement, as the clerk said, is a common practice then I have no confidence in the quality and integrity of my purchases. There is no traceability should there be an outbreak of any disease because there is no way of knowing which brand egg is contaminated. As someone who is active in commercial agriculture, this is both frustrating and disturbing. read more

Safeway wonderful place I frequent here and have never had any complaints. Always great product and prices! The staff is nice, helpful and the produce workers are always doing a great job keeping everything fresh. Even the check out clerks are friendly and get to know you if you come in often and it's great cause they'll ask how you are and get to know you better. Also if you like getting ripe bananas for baking or eating the have bags you can fill and you can get them at a discounted price compared to the un ripe ones which I love cause I hate waiting for them to ripen and there not wasting them which is also great! This store has a deli which has fresh meats, cheese and salads, chicken ect it's clean and always looks great! The deli counter turkey here is the best deli meat we only buy this kind. There's a Chinese food area it's really good. There beer, wine and liquor section is huge and always has sales going on. The pastry bread area is wonderful just walking through the smell is fresh and I could stand there all day and smell the wonderfulness!!! Also there floral dept is great always fresh beautiful flowers and you can get balloons. It is a wonderful store with wonderful staff! read more
