The store smells like it was poorly mopped and I asked for help 3 different times with the alcohol section and all three times nobody showed up, waited 30 minutes before Sue the great cashier who originally asked for help for me, decided to close lane and help me herself since nobody else would Terrible service from the whole team except Sue, the person working the self checkout area observed my struggle for help and did nothing. Our bad experience involved the pharmacy. We made appointments for vaccinations four days in advance. When we came in, we were told the pharmacist was too busy to administer the vaccinations and while I can sympathize with being caught in the weeds, a call or text prior to our appointment time would have been the responsible thing to do. We are busy people and coming back another day wasn't an option. This is not the first time something like this has happened and after shopping at the Anderson Safeway for 20 years, I will go elsewhere and damn sure won't deal with that, or any other Safeway pharmacy. Went into the pharmacy with a friend who was picking up a script and he asked the pharmacist if I could pay for a few items there and the pharmacy tech kim said yes. She began ringing everything up and I wondered aloud why it was so expensive. She rang up his script with my items never asking if it was all together but thankfully I caught it. She rerang my items but I was confused on the price about a probiotic drink but it only showed the CV charge on the screen so I asked her and she said,"I'm just used to doing pharmacy stuff" and so I expressed my concern again and she said,"I don't know". I feel like if I'm confused about a price I have the right to know what it is. She seemed like she just wanted to get it over with like it was quitting time. The pharmacy personnel seem extremely overworked. They get Rx mixed up or not filled when they have sent text saying it's ready. Too many of the personnel are rude. Took over a week to get my last Rx while pharmacy kept playing phone tag with my doctor. Infection had cleared on its own by the time I got the Rx. The rudeness really, really bothers me. I've been using this pharmacy for approx 20 Years. Also, when you make an apptmt for vacinations, arrive on time and then wait for an hour.you are just put in the waiting room and forgotten. i called to make an order for a cake and the whole phone call this woman has bad customer service. the way she responded with what i ask for on the cake she was confused. if she was confused she could've communicate with me. but instead she gave me attitude to what I ASK for on the cake. my mom loves angel food cake. so i ask a two layer with mix berries in the middle of the layer cake. she did not do as i told her. she added strawberries on top of the cake with the stems on it.. the cake look like as if a ten year old did it. i have order one before in chico last month and they made it perfect exactly how i ask they made angel food cake added with mix berries in the middle. i'll show on picture one. picture two is how they apparently made it how i ask. over all i'll never call or recommend a cake from this bakery. read more

This Safeway is pretty good and halfway between Redding and Red Bluff. This Safeway is better than most choices we have in Red Bluff, so I stop in here for groceries sometimes. When does a Safeway customer stop being a Safeway customer? I've actually been a Safeway customer for decades. My mother is a dedicated Safeway ONLY customer. I spread my money around, but not my mother shops Safeway exclusively. I live in Redding, CA. My Mom lives south of me, almost in Anderson. She moved up here from the Bay Area in 2011. And she stopped driving about six years ago, when she was 90. Until recently I was taking her to Safeway in Anderson twice a week for her shopping. The Starbucks was there, and they had a little café area. I would walk my mom into the store, make sure she's safe and starting her shopping, then I'd sit at a table with my book and read until she was done shopping. 30 to 45 minutes. She would check out and come back to my table and I would escort her to the car and take her home or out to lunch. Probably in May we changed our routine to once a week to cut our possible Covid exposure in half, so Mondays we are generally there. Sometime last spring Safeway got rid of the café area due to Covid. The area was empty for a while, and I'd sit on the little shelf that ran around the floor of the room to wait for my mother. Nobody ever said anything. Product started coming into the area by mid-summer. But there was room to sit on that little shelf, and I stayed there while mom shopped. About a month ago the store filled up the former café area with books, magazines, and other product. This eliminated any place to sit and wait for my mother. I'd like you to understand first and foremost that I need to drive my mother to your store, and drive her home. For her safety, I escort her in due to street people in the area usually outside the store. I escort her out of the store for the same reason. My walking through the store with her is not an option for me. I let her shop at her own pace and criss cross the store as many times as she wants while I enjoy a book. After the store filled up the area I sat in with product, I started carrying in a fold up chair, and I would sit back out of the way and read while she shopped. Nobody said anything. Now yesterday, Sunday, October 18 my husband and myself took mom out for her birthday lunch then ran over to Safeway. She went shopping and my husband and I were sitting there while I taught him how to enter contacts into his cell phone. A young man with a big attitude came by to roust us. He said we couldn't sit there, because of Covid they had eliminated that café area, and we had to leave. I explained I was waiting for my elderly mother, who is shopping in the store. He said we had to leave, go sit outside. I asked to talk to the store manager, and he informed me he IS the store manager. If he was, he was out of uniform, no Safeway shirt, no nametag identifying him as an employee, let alone a manager. I asked to see his business card, and he said he didn't have one. I have no idea who he was, and he didn't give me his name. He told me again I'd have to leave. I explained she would be looking for me there, and he said I had to go outside. I did lose my cool, I confess. He was aggressive, I pushed back. He had an audience, he was grandstanding. He was obnoxious. My husband and I went outside to wait for my mom. It was about 95 degrees outside. The street people roost between Safeway and the Dollar Store, smoke and do whatever they do. He was relegating us there. IF he's really your manager, he needs additional education. I am 70 years old. I have a bad back and bad knees. I can't stand for 45 minutes. I make sure my mother gets to your store in Anderson at least once a week. My husband and I own a successful business in Redding. Your "manager's" demeanor was that of evicting street people who were squatting in his store. He kept repeating "It's the Covid". It wasn't "the Covid". I was counting, more than half the people in there weren't wearing masks. So I ask you. When does a Safeway customer stop being a Safeway customer and become an undesirable? We were publicly evicted like street squatters. It was humiliating. Am I only a customer when I'm walking through your aisles with a cart, selecting product off the shelves? Am I still a customer if I bring my mother into your store and provide my own seat to sit, read and wait until she's done? Or would you prefer I sit outside in the heat, in the rain, in the second-hand smoke created by the street people hanging out there? What I am asking for is a place to cool my jets while my mother shops in your store without putting her at risk going into or out of your doors, without my sweating or freezing in the Redding weather, where I can peacefully read and wait for her to finish shopping. I don't think that is such a difficult thing to provide. read more

I stopped in here to get a snack before my long trip back to Sacramento​, I walked in and went to the deli to get a sandwich I ordered a turkey avocado pesto not toasted and it was very tasty​ almost a little too​ much turkey for me but everything​ was very delicious​s. It was definitely crowded​ due to it probably being a Sunday that we had stopped in but the service was good for how busy they were and we were able to get what we need within several minutes and be on our way. read more

We have been getting mostly grocery delivery since Covid, but my husband and I have shopped inside as well. First off the store is layer out kind of crowded. The 2 ends of the store are the fruit/vegetable aisles and on the other end the deli/bakery. Both are stocked well and layed out attractive. The other aisles of the store seem cramped and stocked kind of odd, It takes awhile to find things. All the clerks are nice, knowledgeable and helpful. My one complaint is the entry/exit doors. I am handicapped and they keep changing which doors are to remained locked. I'm assuming this is due to Covid times-but guys come on! Be consistent please! read more

Whoever schedules the checkers in this store is insane, 5:30 at night two days before valentines day and there is one regular and one express line open. The line went all the way down the isle and into the bakery. This is just uncalled for and stupid. To top it off there was a poor elderly man there to pick up the flower arrangement he ordered and there was no one there to help him. they told him he would have to come back and 7pm when people came back from lunch. OMG Wish I could post pictures of the line. Felt bad for the checker who got verbally abused by everyone that went thru her line. poor girl. Clean, friendly, and reasonable..... but their butcher in the meat department usually only serves singles of seafood. Bachelors like me can't get small portions of meats for only one. On the other hand, the club membership gets you some pretty good discounts and sales as well as the discounts on their gas. And their produce department is excellent. I feel it's not so much the Safeway and it's service but the area it's in, in the overwhelming number of transits invade this place along with the fuel station. Stopped for some milk, bananas and a few more items on our way back to Redding after our trip ... No one to bag our groceries, so I bagged while Ron finished paying. No biggie, except that when I picked up my bag, the handle broke and bananas and tomatoes went rolling.... The bagger at the next counter, said oops and continued doing what he was doing... Stopped here on last day of month, 11/19. Wanted to get my Safeway discount, had trouble at the pump figuring it out. Went inside, Thomas was super helpful, patient, polite - then, I was about to leave, when he ran outside to stop me and bring me back in to get my change - $20! I had forgotten that it would not go automatically back to credit card - how easy to pocket the difference - not at this place. So when I get off work and need to pick up a few items this store is on my way home. Every time I've been there, they have 4 checkouts open(no 15 item or less one) and lines going to back of store. I see clerks not knowing codes for common products, not aware how to process payments and not charging for correct things. I don't usually shop at Safeway as I prefer rayleys and costco but today my boyfriend and I were just wanting a specific salsa they sell. We grabbed a bag of chips and the salsa and went to the 15 or under line. To our surprise the two people in front of us had over 45 items in one transaction and the other person had about 30, not including the people behind us had what looked like a months worth of shopping that they were loading up. We ended up waiting in that line for over 30 minutes as every other "express" checkout was full of large purchases. Very inconvenient and those people should have been told to go to a regular checkout. This review is for the deli only. Came in at lunchtime hungry for a sandwich with all the fixings. There were two ladies making sandwiches at the deli counter so the wait was minimal. I ordered one of their signature subs and made a couple substitutions to it. My requests were accommodated quickly and with a smile. It seems they do not charge for additional toppings either- I added olives, peppers, etc for free even though the ingredients listed in the sub description did not include them.
