This store is useless ,which is really sad because it is the only big store in the area, besides the junk food at Walmarts grocery store. Their delivery team is the worst. Today, I had 12 items or less in my whole order. They shop 4 hours early for your groceries which makes it impossible to get any hot deli items, even if you schedule an afternoon delivery. I order delivery from Safeway once a month maybe once every 6-7 weeks and I always want some hot chicken tenders. Well chicken tenders aren't available until after 10 so I schedule my orders usually between 12 and 2. This day my order was scheduled for delivery between 12 and 1, and they started shopping at 8 am. My order was complete by 9 am. The shopper sent a message and said they didn't have "any" tenders today because there was a sale yesterday. I waited a bit and called and spoke to the deli, and they definitely had plenty of cold tenders in the deli case. Essentially my shopper lied to me. I then called back and spoke to the delivery department, and I believe it was the shopper that took the phone and she had surly attitude with me. Let me just say i had 12 items or less in my whole order. She said the orders are shopped for 4 house before delivery and I couldn't make any changes because the order was complete. Well then, why did you lie and say you didn't have something you had. She totally could have said we are out of the hot tenders but they have cold ones, would you like them? Nooooo, just we don't have any. The last delivery order I received was just as irritating. I ordered a sugar pie pumpkin for baking and picked the heritage pumpkin as a replacement in the event that the sugar pie pumpkin wasn't available, what did I get in my delivery? A big decorative pumpkin. Do the employees not speak to each other, are people afraid to ask a team member a question? The deli itself is an issue when you go in to get fresh deli meat and cheese. No one likes to handle the fresh meat and cheese area of the deli. From my experience it seems they always have a new person in the deli that has zero experience. When I ask for my meat and cheese to be sliced thin, I either get a sigh like I'm bothering them because they have to change the setting or they don't know how to change the slice setting because they ware new and were thrown to the wolves. I've had other customers around me that dread the same thing. I've met some fun people as we complain about the horrible service at the fresh deli section. I emailed corporate months ago and it did nothing. I had enough today and canceled my freshness for delivery, and i will be avoiding shopping there at all costs. I am always frustrated after shopping there or dealing with their delivery issue. My advice to anyone in the area is plan for some back up store or go in knowing it's is going to be a disappointment. Update: My order just arrived and apparently you pick substitutes for no good reason because they don't have the baby romaine I ordered so instead of going with my substitution request of green leaf lettuce, they brought me this old looking of wilted romaine so out to the chickens it goes. read more

Does Safeway despise their customers? Have we become an inconvenience? The ongoing game of getting sale prices continues to become more convoluted. Some sale prices work when you enter your phone number. Other sale prices only work when you 'clip' the digital coupon. Other sale prices require a level of tenacious behavior and detective work that it seems as though Safeway finally rolls over and says "Fine. They figured it out. I guess we'll give them the sales price." ENOUGH!!! Some of the cashiers at the Aberdeen Safeway are very friendly and pleasant. At the same time, some behave as if their biorhythms have been thrust into darkness and their disgust is evident. Never mind what you have to go through now if you want to buy batteries and ice cream. Sheesh! She said she picked my order herself and it was very fresh. I've had problems with this before. I was not looking for a refund. I came here during a week long solo break to Aberdeen WA, and I found the store to be well-stocked and clean.  I needed drinking water, which eventually added chips and dips, which eventually added a few bottles of wine to help with the cold weather.  The store is very much arranged like all the other Safeway locations so finding things will be a breeze if you're a Safeway's regular.  If not, the aisle signs will guide you to what your needs are... The staff are nice and knowledgeable about the aisle contents.  The girl I asked was even nice enough to walk me straight to the aisle and location where the item was!  (The advantage of having white hairs...old person vibe...I have to help him and get my good deed for the day done and over with!) And checkout was a breeze as well.  We came in at a time when the store was near empty, but still had three cashiers open for checking out.  Reminds me of New Zealand where three people in line at the checkout is too crowded, so they open more! The store practices absolute highway robbery. They are very understaffed and I don't blame the employees for being rude because they do not have the tools to do their job. Prices go up on a weekly basis for absolutely no reason. They are usually at least 75% higher than the Walmart supercenter. I came here looking for some food while on the road. Specifically I was hoping for something good to-go, I found it. Their to-go food section was very large and had a wide selection of options. Not all of the sandwich options I had seen before, so I took some time in finding what I wanted. The sandwich I got was well-made, very tasty, and filling. It held me over from mid-afternoon to about 10 p.m. and a hike. Great assortment if this is what you are looking for! They had both cashiers and self-checkout payment avenues. This review is not only a testament to how Safeway in Aberdeen WA treats their customers but a warning in case you find yourself in a similar situation please excuse my grammar as I'm extremely irritated and let down at the length some people will go to humiliate their customers when they should be more understanding and helpful. I went to the Safeway in aberdeen.wa on Dec 21 to purchase some diapers and wipes for my brother because he had recently been laid off and has a new baby girl to care for so I purchased him a box of Pampers diapers and a box of Pampers wipes and a couple other small items totaling a little over 130.00 and over the Christmas holiday I went to Seattle to visit family and drop off these gifts to make a long story short my brother although extremely thankful advised me that I had purchased the wrong stuff and he would be unable to utilize the items so I said no problem I will take them back and mail you the gift card as you can the. Purchase whatever you would need to help your family out and returned to Aberdeen the following day I wasted no time when I returned I went to the Safeway where I had purchased these items and when I got to the counter I realized I did not have the receipt with me no problem I figured I used my club card phone number to make the purchase so everything should be ok boy was I wrong not only was I treated like a comon criminal I was told that I would not be able to return my items and I would have to write down as much information as I could remember about the day I purchased the diapers and wipes and then the information I provided would have to be sent to the receipt department as they can not look up or verify anything at the store and it would take about a week or 2 to confirm the information now I have only returned about 2 things my entire life to Safeway stores but never have I had someone tell me this so I reluctantly provided all the information they asked for even asking the person who rang my items up to confirm and he said yes everything is exactly right but here take this he printed out a blank receipt with his name on it and said call this number tell them I rang you out and give them the details as you just did and they can go into the club account and find your receipt and email it to you and with that you will not have any issues and even better I would not have to wait for this mysterious receipt department to get back to me my god if only that were true ya see I did this I contacted the people from the phone number he provided and within 15 mins I had the receipt emailed to me and with this I went back to Safeway only to find out this was not true either and yet another manager one mason sales came to the customer service desk and instantly approached me with hostility and the worst service I have ever been treated so far ya see he treated me like I had stolen these items and was trying to return them even after I explained the situation even after I had given him the receipt provided to me just a few short minutes before I got there by his department and now for the last slap in the face as he joked with the other girl who was working the desk he says to me how do I know you didn't steal these items from Walmart and are now trying to get one over on us with a smirk I was extremely hot at this point and as calmly as I could I said this is ridiculous you scanned the items I purchased the barcode I assume would tell you where it came from are you kidding me look I don't have time for this I have real issues I need to deal with what do you want me to do your going to have to wait for barb I cannot help you and with that he went in hislittle office and I was standing there embarrassed and without options I went outside and chatted with the online managers who after hearing my case and what I have been dealing with tried to credit my club account with some funds because and I quote felt so bad at how I was being treated was almost going to break protocol and credit the full amount but I explained the gesture was nice and I'm extremely appreciative I don't want you to take a chance of getting into trouble and risking your job all because the Aberdeen store has no clue what customer service is at this point beware if you ever step foot in the Aberdeen location because I'd they don't like you or are having a bad day or whatever it is they will make sure your are as well I have filed with better business bureau I have sent out emails in hopes I can find the district manager in charge of this store because I have videos of my encounters I think they should see and listen to all the stuff I could not write in here as it's inappropriate all I want is to have the items I purchased in error returned read more

The Safeway itself was ok the bakery on the other hand...it was our daughter's 40th b-day my wife picked out a cake and design, i also ordered this doll cake because that's what dads do...I have specific instructions for the dress to be black and the highlights to be gray...quoted me $37.00 specifically told would not be more than $40.00, next day go to pick up cakes the one my wife ordered looked ok....but the doll cake was wrong everything was backwards they made the dress gray which really looked green and the highlights black...as there was no time to have the cake redone I was stuck with it to add insult to injury when we reached the register I was charged over $50.00 for a cake that was not done as ordered... read more

We waited closed to 10 minutes with the line growing while other customers just walked away asking if this was line to use the toilet. Toilet paper on the ground. Seats and toilets had not been touched, but we did have toilet paper. 10 minutes while associates passed the line going to the office and saying nothing. I always have positive experiences shopping in the Aberdeen Safeway! I've ordered 2 custom cakes from their bakery and both of them turned out perfect! The staff in the bakery is always willing to guide you along while building the cakes and offer helpful tips on frosting choices and designs. HIRE SOME DAMNED CASHIERS. There's a line 4or 5 deep at every checkout station every time I go in there.

The people here are friendly and helpful, but for one of the busiest stores in the state it is chronically understaffed with cashiers. The place can be packed and there are only two or three cashiers with 3 or 4 people with full carts waiting. The only time they are reasonably staffed is Christmas and New years. And parking sucks too. As a result I often find myself shoping in Oly or Mill creek where the service is faster and parking is better. :( read more

The sandwiches at the deli are pretty good, a little expensive, but pretty good. They have in my opinion the best chinese food in Aberdeen or Hoquiam. You used to get two heaping piles of whatever main dishes you wanted along with rice/chow mein and an eggroll or potsticker. I am standing near a gentleman,he is asking if they had a particular sale item that was not out on the shelf. Normal Safeway, nothing out of the ordinary. Very good selection and variety of items, large store that is fairly new. The deli is probably no different than any other Safeway but it is one of my favorite places to eat in Aberdeen oddly enough, and very cheap too. Compared to other stores in the area I think Safeway probably has the best selection and the most staff on duty at any given time which is nice for avoiding long lines. Swansons is generally a little more run-down, but you can find a lot of things cheaper there, but not as high a quality or large of a selection as Safeway. Also, I worked at Ocean Shores IGA for 7 years which is considerably smaller, older, and significantly understaffed in comparison (which is reason enough to never shop there). However their weekly sales are the same or better priced than Safeway, and many regular priced items are cheaper too. However most regular prices are higher. Overall Swanson's has the possibly the lowest regular prices I've found by comparison shopping (which I do religiously), but I recommend driving out of your way to shop at Safeway for the higher quality, better store, shorter lines, and larger selection. You seriously need to do something about having deli products ready for purchase, every other Safeway has all of their product cooked and ready at 10 AM, once again today we came in at 1130 and was told it would be at least 20 mins until anything was ready in the Chinese section. All of the employees here are super nice and always there to help. Lu, at the deli, slices my turkey exactly how I like it and has my order memorized. Friendly grocery service can't save the aweful Pharmacy, and sometimes grossly overpriced produce and meat. This review is mostly about the pharmacy. Safeway Pharmacy has to be the most incompetent pharmacy in Aberdeen, Grays Harbor county Wa. Meds are never ready when they say. Usually 1-3 days after they say they will be ready. Pharmacist are nice, but the cashiers in the pharmacy always have an attitude and appear to hate life and not want to be employed there. Auto fill is a complete joke and never auto fills on the correct dates. Me and my wife have called 3-4 days before fill date, only to run out of important meds, days after fill date, because they still haven't filled them. And we still have to wait at least a day or two longer for meds to be filled. Is Safeway pharmacy now a subsidiary of Walmart, because that's what it feels like. Walmart's pharmacy is actually better sadly. It's beyond belief how a Billion dollar grocery chain has such friendly grocery service, and the pharmacy the equivalent of frog excrement at the bottom of a New Jersey toxic waste pond. Part of me wishes they had a Zero option in the ratings, but they receive 2 stars only because of friendly service. Prices can still be grossly over priced in the grocery sections. After dealing with this for a long amount of time we are going to change pharmacys. I suggest avoiding the Safeway pharmacy at all cost. read more

This Safeway is always crowded because it is one of the few big grocery stores in Grays Harbor County. They are way over priced and they get away with it do to the lack of stores. There are always a long lines and the manager obviously doesn't do anything about it. Grays's Harbor is one of the poorest counties in state Washington which use to thrive on the lumber industry. I've shopped here since they closed the south Aberdeen store many years ago. It's far better than any other grocery within an hours' drive. Clean, modern, excellent variety in all departments. With the Just For You program you get special prices and coupons based on what you have bought in the past... I LOVE that! I also save a lot on gasoline because the points you get add up fast. The meat department is fabulous...top quality and and the people are always pleasant and extremely helpful. They are real meat cutters, not just people unloading everything that was shipped from who knows where. The front case with special items always has something new and delicious. The marinades and rubs they can apply or sell are delicious. The produce department is amazing. It's hard to believe we have such a wide range of fruit and veggies here in such a small town. Beautifully displayed, always excellent quality. Take time to look at all the herb packages and the little containers of blended herbs and spices for cooking. Lots of inspiration! The deli is awesome. It's very hard to not impulse shop over there! The sliced meats are excellent and the wide variety of salads has something for everyone. Don't be afraid to ask for a little sample if something is new to you. My personal faves are many but right now the Kale Salad is #1. I'd never eaten kale before...this salad has so many yummy things with crunch in it and a great vinagrette dressing. It's full of healthy things and tastes awesome. Try it. The Chinese foods and other items like fried chicken in the deli are great too. Don't wait too late for Chinese if you want the best variety. (The shrimp seems to sell fast). It's all good. The fried rice is excellent. If they had egg fu yung and almond chicken they'd be perfect! In the bakery the doughnuts are always good as is the French bread. I wish very much that they baked rye bread in the store. What really makes a shopping experience excellent is the service. Even though the store is very busy the service never fails. Checkers are fast and friendly. They look you in the eye ans remember regular customers. It's the norm to have an employee walk past you in an aisle and both greet you with a smile and ask if you are finding what you are looking for. If you ask where something is they actually take you to it...they don't just tell you the aisle number. Very impressive and hard working. The pharmacy is excellent. Wonderful helpful people who really are top notch at their jobs. I have total confidence in them. I obviously spend too much time in the grocery store...but I can tell you that the Aberdeen Safeway is the place to go. read more

Like anyone else who is extremely dissatisfied with a business, I would give this store's pharmacy zero stars if I could. The sad story here is a year ago I would have given them five stars. Since the adoption of their new software program, their service level has dropped and mistakes in insurance billing have reached the point where I can no longer afford to do business there. The last two mistakes alone took $190.00 from me and they say they cannot fix and/or refund any money. My only recourse as a consumer is take my business elsewhere and encourage people to look elsewhere as well for their pharmacy needs. read more

I got cash back at a self checkout and I forgot my cash back. An amazing employee was observant enough to notice. And she kept it for me, I appreciate her honesty she has excellent coustomer service. We need more people like that in this world. She was incredibly friendly, she made sure to thank us when we were leaving. I am extremely happy with my experience at her store.
