Very unprofessional and pushy. The instructor was unhelpful in preparation of my exam. Do not go here if you want to pass the road test.

I'm not trying to criticize his technique as a whole, but I do want others to have a clear sense of what to expect. Booking a session was quick and easy, and I was able to get an appointment the very next day, which I really appreciated. I understand that driving instructors sometimes need to be curt and direct for safety reasons. However, I think the type of feedback also needs to match the situation and the student's experience level. For me, the lesson felt like an hour of being yelled at. I was constantly aware that I was doing something wrong, but not always what I had done wrong or how to fix it. My impression was that Lucien overestimated my prior driving experience. This could likely have been resolved by taking a few moments to pause, talk through what we were about to do, and ask whether I had done it before. When I asked questions, Lucien was willing to demonstrate, but many of his instructions weren't clear to me, and his tone made me feel as though I was being scolded, even if that wasn't his intention. If I made the same mistake multiple times, that suggested I didn't understand something, not that I wasn't trying. Instead, he seemed frustrated that I didn't get it immediately and would tell me I was doing it wrong without giving concrete, descriptive feedback about how to correct it. For example, when I was practicing turning, he would yell that I was doing it wrong and grab the wheel, which didn't help me understand what I needed to change. It would have been far more helpful to pull over, explain the steps clearly, and then practice on a quiet street where I could try again safely and independently. There were also times when I misunderstood his instructions (for instance, going into the leftmost lane instead of going to the leftmost lane that eventually turns right). His immediate response was to yell that I hadn't listened, rather than clarify what I had misunderstood. This approach felt infantilizing and made me upset and distracted, which wasn't conducive to learning. Pedagogically, it also didn't make much sense to me. I wasn't paying $70 an hour to ignore instructions; if I wasn't following them correctly, it meant something about the instructions wasn't clear. A more helpful response would have been to ask what part I had misunderstood and adjust the explanation so I could succeed next time. Overall, Lucien may be a good fit for students who thrive under very direct and high-pressure instruction, are very good at articulating the specific skills that they already have and are hoping to gain, and are better at interpreting his feedback. For others, his style may be stressful and difficult to learn from.

Inconsistent, Unprofessional, and Ultimately a Waste of Time & Money…read more I am writing this review on behalf of my father, a retired military Veteran from India, who just completed 7 lessons with Brookline Driving School. Unfortunately, his experience was overwhelmingly disappointing and I would strongly advise you to look elsewhere. Our primary issue was the complete lack of consistency between instructors. He had at least three different teachers, primarily switching between Ervin and Vitaly. While Ervin was patient and seemed to genuinely enjoy teaching, the same cannot be said for his counterpart. Vitaly was, frankly, obnoxious. He lacked basic respect for his students, was often loud and visibly frustrated, creating an environment where my father felt intimidated and unable to ask questions. If you don't have the patience for this job, why are you in it? To make matters worse, he made uncalled-for and stereotypical "jokes" about Indians being bad drivers, which was completely unprofessional and offensive. The biggest practical problem arose from this inconsistency. Ervin and Vitaly taught completely different techniques for parallel parking. One would say to do it one way, and the next lesson, the other would contradict it. This constant change in instruction confused my father daily and shattered his confidence. The culmination of this failure was on his road test. He failed specifically because of the parallel parking maneuver. The conflicting advice from his own instructors left him unsure of the correct method, leading to a critical error. I hold Brookline Driving School 100% responsible for this. We are cutting our losses and heeding our neighbors' recommendation to try Waltham Driving School instead. Save your time, your money, and your sanity--go somewhere else. This school is unorganized and employs instructors who are not aligned, with at least one who lacks the basic demeanor required to teach.

I've learned manual transmission 5 years ago and got my manual license in my own country. But since…read moreit's been so long ago, and I wasn't really ready to drive in a manual in the real world and I was always dreaming of getting a manual transmission car. I was nervous, went out for test driving several manual cars, got embarrassed how bad my manual driving skill was, stalled the test drive car 2 times, and I decided to take some serious training to fresh up my memories and also learn some new useful skills of driving a manual. George is welcoming and very helpful. What he taught me, the 'pushing the clutch in a bit' technique with coordination of the gas pedal, is extremely useful. Instead of 'only let the clutch off slowly' to launch, I launched way more efficiently than I did when I was getting my license. So far I've already got 3 lessons in total. I'm gonna get the full 6 courses in the next following weeks. George told me that the clutch of STI is pretty stiff, so if you can drive the STI well that probably means you can drive any other manual cars even more comfortably. I can tell George truly cares about his students and I recommend this to anyone that wants to learn how to drive a manual transmission.

I waited for around 45 minutes in the dark parking lot, the office was closed, although it showed open on the website. I kept calling their number, but no one picked up. I left 4 voice mails also, called in earlier in the day to confirm the appointment as well and left a voicemail then also. No one cared to call me back. And no one showed up on the site for the classes well past 8. Such a terrible experience. I hope no one goes through this ordeal.

I had the pleasure of being trained here for my License and I do not regret choosing this school…read moreone bit. I first took courses with Kaz who was very patient and calm with me as I started to learn the ropes. To which I appreciated immensely because I am the type of person who does not do well when people are aggressive or curt with me. Makes me tense up. He also gave me very useful spreadsheets to study for the following classes. I had to change instructor due to Kaz's schedule filling up so fast so I next got Jennifer who was just as efficient if not more ( no disrespect haha.). She was a pleasure to train with as well and continued to help me feel confident in my skills while correcting me as needed. One thing you should keep in mind is their mannerism via text. They can come off as very curt through the communications ( at least to me they did. ) so I did a little digging and found out that, in general, people in these professions have to project this demeanor in order to keep the tone serious to emphasis that, "you are going to be on the road, where you can possibly kill someone!" So I understand the approach now. But still takes some getting used to but dont let it deter you! They mean well! The prices are very reasonable as well! 32 bucks for 45 mins of driving. Pretty great bang for your buck considering they seriously know what they're doing. Schedule wise, they are flexible but dont you DARE BE LATE! their time is precious and take it very seriously! All in all I would definitely recommend this school to anyone in need of getting top quality training to be on the road.
