All government phone service is BAD .these call centers are NOT in the u.S and they get away with whatever they want and nothing you can do about it . They're in control, and constantly lie to you . I think the government needs to step in and FIRE those people immediately!!! It's hard to leave even one star. Is there a negative star rating? If there was that is what we would give Safelink. Long, long, long (over 50 minutes) wait time for tech support, slow response to our service request, techs and phone operators that seem as if they are being annoyed by a customer call and on hold music that would drive Mother Teresa insane! They promised that we were going to have excellent service because of the direct line of sight we have to their tower. We live in town not on a remote hillside! We purchased the service and for two whole weeks the service was great. After that we began to have intermittent outages. We called customer service and were pit through the "diagnostics". It was determined that "something" was wrong so they sent out a tech. The tech said that the dish was pointed to the correct tower but for some reason we weren't getting the full signal strength. He didn't know why and didn't do anything to fix the issue. He simply left. At this very moment I am again on hold waiting for tech support to answer. I have been here for 48 minutes so far and I'm still #3 in line! Don't buy the hype. This service is not worth the money or time unless it is your absolute last resort for internet access. Even then I might consider moving before having to deal with this company again. I don't know how they arrive at 98% positive feedback (I'd like t0 see the actual surveys) but i can't imagine I'm the only dissatisfied customer they have. read more

I have read many of the negative reviews for this company. I recently bought a connection from them and my experience differs greatly. I get excellent service from them. I am also a seasoned IP engineer and have 24 years of experience in building portions of this countries Internet backbone. There are many moving parts that have to work flawlessly for the network to function. It is most likely not SafeLinks fault for much of the trouble people experience. If you want reliable in the Idaho expanse, you are going to have to pay for it plain and simple. Good is not cheap and Great costs even more. For me these guys have given me an exquisite service in an area devoid of network resources. I live here because I like it and it is my choice to do so. I don't even want to give 1star on this review, but seems I don't have a choice. Horrible internet service! Do not sign up! You will be sorry. Terrible customer service just as soon as they set you up, they are no longer helpful and pleasant after you sign your name! If you call to report a problem they don't send anyone out, they look at their computer and tell you everything looks fine on their end. They will NOT send a service person to your home! We have had Safelink for over 4 years. The service has been getting worse. "Our tower" keeps going down, burning down, who knows what. We have to unplug the cables sometimes 3-4 times a day to get the service back on, which is really annoying. The techs are nice enough, but we have to call them far too often for the same thing. They claim "legendary service". Far from it. It's very unreliable. I wish there was a better option. read more

Been a customer for several years, and they have never delivered what they promise despite paying for their expensive "best" option. Reason we keep them is they are the only provider in our area in Idaho, otherwise it would have been adios a long time ago. S-L-O-W speeds, often down, poor customer service. Safelink Internet is some of the worst I have ever had to deal with. I live in Gooding, Idaho and have problems with it since day one. It constantly goes down and I use the internet to bid on jobs. Since July 2016 to December 30 2016 my company has missed out on an estimated $220,000. Don't bother even talking to them. Their customer service sucks as well. They tell you it would be fixed by 10pm that night but when it is not and you call back you will not be able to get ahold of anyone. Good luck on trying to get them to call you back too. read more

Safelink is the worst company I've ever dealt with in my life. The Internet has been unreliable and deficient, working off and on, for over 5 weeks with no improvement. They apparently "overloaded" the tower that provides the signal to our house, and the service plummeted suddenly and has been horrible for over 5 weeks. They are incompetent and deserve NO stars. I would have switched long ago if there were any other company providing internet where I live. Before this, we had problems for two years with the service going out and needing to reboot the modem and router frequently. They said we had the most updated equipment and everything was fine, but the router went out completely shortly after that, proving that it was not great equipment. It took over a week for them to get service to us again! After we bought our own router to insure we were getting better equipment, it worked tolerably until they made another mistake overloading the tower. Or whatever happened - who knows what the truth is. Either they don't care or they are incompetent, or both. Get any other service but this one!!! read more

Absolutely do not get internet from this provider unless you absolutely have too. I have had the family plan for 2 years now (6 Mbps down 1 mbps up) And our first year of 2014 service was okay. Speedtest were around 4 or 5, and it was a steady connection throughout the day. However, at the start of the 2015 year, our speed got horrible. The connection is not steady, and were lucky if we even get 3 mbps download and 0.5 upload, at any time of the day. Cant stream netflex, whatching a youtube video on low quality even means waiting 2 minutes for it to load. For a 3 hour period of 5pm to 9pm the speed drops to 0.5 download and 0.5 upload http://www.speedtest.net/result/4885909163.png . Absolutely ridiculous. I dont know what they changed, but ever since the start of 2015 my rating has gone from 4 stars to not even a half a star. If they let me give a 1/4 of a star I would. 1 star is too good a rating for the representation of this service. The techs are nice and helpfull, but ive called at least 7 times and each time it fixes nothing. I dont think im the only one getting this problem because every time I call im always 8th in line. If you live in a city area, get Cable One. They charge 55$ a month for 100 mbps download and 3 uplaod speed. It is a limited connection, but you would have to stream 14,000 hours of Netflex HD to go over your monthly 300GB. I would love to get cable one, but im out of there service area. The very moment that they offer internet in my area, I will throw a damn party that I am not paying MORE for internet that is 15x SLOWER. Do NOT get safelink if any other service is offered in your area. Period. read more
