The front desk girl is rude and unprofessional. She does not articulate well, and seems to not understand basic dialog. I'm sure the attorney(s) do a great job, however, the office staff is very offputting. read more

I have never had to use a lawyer before so I looked up lawyers in the twin falls area and went with the ones that had the best reviews , which you can't find reviews on most lawyers, and their websites give little information. I found two lawyers that I wanted to talk with, McRae Law was one I chose to call first because the couple of reviews they did have were good, their website gave information on who was in their firm and what they did. At this point I was wanting to know if they would take the case, and what they charged. Some ask for a retainer and then the fees pile up, some charge a flat fee. The person who answered the phone (Lydia) was very pleasant, patient, and understanding with my situation. She was also very helpful with information that I needed, one was that they charge a flat fee. I would have used them for the representation I needed but I never received a return call from the lawyer, I called twice, my husband called once, we were both told the lawyer would call us back as soon as he got back in the office, as he was in court. I understand lawyers are busy but to this day, two weeks later, we have never received a call. I had left a message the same day I called McRae's office with another lawyer and he returned my call two days later, we went with him. read more

Steve McRae is a great lawyer and I highly recommend him if you need an attorney in the greater Twin Falls area. After calling a few lawyers in the area, I decided Steve was the most articulate and he became my legal counsel. Over time, I discovered he has a firm grasp of Idaho state law. He genuinely cares about his clients. But what I feel truly separates him from other attorneys is he has great people skills and political savvy. If you read the rest of this review, you'll see why those last two qualities can matter more than you might think. Steve arranged for me to enter my plea and receive my sentence on the same day. Later that day I checked in with Twin Falls probation and asked to go back to California. They told me it would take a few days to process. I called Steve and told him what happened. He personally went in to the probation office and convinced them to get me the travel permit I needed that day. This meant I did not have to stick around town a day longer than necessary and saved me hundreds of dollars I would have otherwise spent in a motel away from work. A year later I have a major problem: the county I just moved to wanted me to register as a drug offender, the county I lived in before didn't. Registering as a drug offender is a California thing, it lasts five years even if your case gets dismissed. It would've undone the benefit of the deal we made in Idaho. Steve files two requests in Idaho: to have my case dismissed or get me off probation. He asked me if I would still need to register as an offender if I was placed on unsupervised probation. I call up California probation, turns out no, I wouldn't need to register if I'm on unsupervised probation. So Steve tells me he's no longer going to ask to get the case dismissed. During my hearing he explains to court how California will require me to register as a drug offender unless something changes. He informs the court we're removing the request for a dismissal and adds a request to place me on unsupervised probation. Judge and prosecutor both said they were glad we got rid of request to dismiss case, and I was lowered to unsupervised probation. I suspect Steve looked into California law a little before filing the motion and already knew that I wouldn't have to register if I was on unsupervised probation. So he asked for a dismissal. Then conceded some ground in court. Resulting in me getting what I wanted which was not needing to register. I paid Steve a retainer fee after our first conversation. Since then I've called his office at least a dozen times; mostly during the registering as an offender episode. Most lawyers charge you a lot each time you call them, maybe Steve charges, but if he does, it's not a lot, because he hasn't asked me for more money since the initial retainer fee. In summary I'm glad he's representing me. read more
